“Awesome Anniversary”
Reviewed 19 October 2011

This was our 14th time to Sandals Negril and our 30th anniversary. We arrived at the resort and were welcomed home with warm smiles and lots of hugs. We had decided to pull out all the stops and book a butler category room ( loft suite) for two weeks. We love the location of these rooms as they are close to the dive shop and boat but these rooms could also use some updating and a bigger bathroom. Before arriving we had requested Jerry and Kenrick as our butlers and we weren't disappointed. These two men were always one step ahead of what we were thinking or wanting! We're not needy people but gotta admit it was sure nice to see one of them waiting for us with drinks in their hands when we got off the dive boat! And then there were the shrimp and cheese plates most afternoons. They even set up a private lunch from the chef ( LOBSTER!!) to have on our patio one afternnon. We definitely will request them both again!
The diving was awesome and the reef looks good- lots of new growth and lots of baby fishies. Water temp was about 85 at 100 ft, visibility great! The dive team here are some of the best around- Josh, Emron, Wayne, Kemar, Philip, Capt Hook - you guys rock!!!
We booked our trip through Amy McHugh of Dream Makers Vacation Services. We've used Amy for the past several years and it's always reassuring to know that everything will be taken care of by her. She's one of the top sellers for Sandals and is highly respected by them as well. And I'm sure she played a big part in us getting upgraded to the walk out river suites our second week there! Thank you again Amy!!!
We went off the resort one night to Ivan's at Catcha Falling Star- fantastic views and even better food. Dinners were around $22. each, drinks $5-6. Very romantic and private- excellent service. Food at the resort was great- best meal was at The Sundowner ( beef tenderlion), Kimono's never changes but good, Dino's just so so. The Monday night beach party was rained out both weeks but they moved it to the Bayside- lots of excellent food! We opted to attend just one of the returning guest dinners where we received our second free week cert! They are still giving out the El Dorado rum but it was hinted to me by one of the managers that Butch has been listening to what people are saying about that rum compared to Appleton's and there's a good possibility Appleton's will be back. No time frame was given but it sounded very positive. Keep your fingers crossed!!!
All in all, a fantastic trip and ready to do it again! Soon come

Room Tip: Try not to book the bottom three room categories- lots of road noise and no view. Pay for the room...

Group of Friends from North Carolina spent a week at this wonderful Resort. The famous Seven Mile Beach was wonderful, the food was great, the drinks were great, but the best part of our entire vacation was the wonderful service we received from Junior at the Swim Up Bar. He went out of his way to make our vacation the best it could be. The service we received from him was "Superb". Keep up the good work Junior. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed October 8th – 15th. After reading a lot of reviews of Sandals Negril I was worried about our decision to stay there. From the moment we arrived I knew we made the RIGHT choice. This resort was amazing. My boyfriend and I loved every minute of it. From the rooms, beach and the food we did not have one issue.

We had a Beach Front Ocean view room with Concierge Service and 24 room service. The room was great. Yes it was small but it was just want we expected. The air conditioner was a little cold but we had no problem turning it off during the day. We did not use the Concierges much but we did love the mini bar in our room. Mainly for the 4 bottles waters everyday. No where will you get a bottle of water unless you have this service. We did do room service one night and it was not great. We got one wrong item but no big deal. Funny thing was room service called and asked if we ate the item they wanted to give it to the correct room.

All the restaurants were great. We did not have to wait once for a table and we did not have Butler service. Rumor was the resort was half full that could have been why. We did have trouble getting beach chairs one day but no biggie we went the pool and waiting a little bit. As some reviews have said do not expect a 5 star hotel in the U.S. This is Jamaica. The staff is so great. Everyone is friendly and always will to help.

We did go to Rick’s Café and had a great time. We did not get hassled to much for tipping but the place was packed so there were plenty of people for them to choose from.

If you are looking to have the most relaxing vacation ever go to Sandals Negril . For hurricane season the weather was great. Only two days of rain and it does not last too long.

NO PROBLEM MON!!!

From the moment we arrived, I was astounded. Great service, great food, clean, quiet, gorgeous. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The beach was quiet, clean, and right outside our door. There was food/drinks available 24 hrs a day. Views were excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. I will certainly be visiting again. EXCELLENT!

Room Tip: We had beachfront deluxe. LOVED walking right out onto the beach.

I used trip advisor for tips of things to do and things to refrain from. Let me begin with a heartfelt thank you to Mark and Neisha, not our butlers but our new friends. We just got back from this resort and had the best time! First let me begin with that we made the choice to pay for an upgraded swim out room with the butler service. We got this room for pool right outside of our room but the butler service was great. Mark and Neisha took care of us. My husband and I are not high maintenance people but we were treated as family. Our room was gorgeous! I found the whole resort to be very clean and in no way outdated. Our furniture was beautiful. Let me say that I’m no interior decorator but I was trying to figure out how to get it in my luggage. I’m sorry to hear that some people had a bad trip but I really feel that there are some people that just can’t be pleased. We were on vacation spending some quality time together on the beautiful island of Jamaica. I didn’t have to cook or clean, that’s more than enough for me. Remember that you get what you pay for. If you are booking the cheapest room, your view is not going to be the best and there will be street noise! The food was excellent with many choices. I never saw anyone with a problem getting a chair on the beach. Yes we did get reserved seats on the beach but we paid for it! Here’s the thing, if you don’t get out to your reserved seat by 11:00am then they go up for grabs as well as they should be. The swim up rooms are the best!!! We are already planning a return trip and will be requesting Mark and Neisha to make our vacation perfect. I cannot explain how wonderful they made our vacation. We were always greeted with a smile and pure island kindness. So here are my tips: book a swim up book and request Mark and Neisha! Ask about the Club Mobay when leaving Jamaica, stay as long as you can, take bug spray. In closing I would say to enjoy your vacation and know that everything isn’t always going to be perfect. All resorts are run by people, that just like you can make mistakes. You get more with sugar than vinegar. Remember where you are, appreciate the beauty and that you are not at work.

We just got back Saturday night. We were at Sandals Negril for a week (10.8-10.15)

This was my husbands favorite resort (we have been 4 other Sandals, and 10 other resorts)

We had a fantastic time!! Thanks to our fabulous travel agent Ruth DeMuth of TripGuy travel we were upgraded from Honeymoon Concierge Beachfront Walkout Room to Honeymoon Beachfront Suite (Palms Building) the room was great…. Had a spacious terrace, vaulted ceiling, and great view!! (as well as yummy treats!!)

The concierge was wonderful, they and they arranged everything you needed , snorkeling trips(2), spa visits (1) and any time the beer ran low would send more quickly!! (6) Both check in and check out was quick and easy. We didn’t do a lot as we spent the week camped there in the first tiki hut in front of the piano bar. The beach was absolutely excellent, and the water was so clear that you could see your feet in chest high water….

THE ROAD: ... OK I will mention it, as so many othere have... The resort is not deep (maybe 3/4 of a football field from road to beach) And, yes I could hear the road at times.....at 6:30 AM even from the beach..During the day it was not that noticeable because of all the activities going on. But really after the first day I didn’t even notice it except when someone beeped.. and our bathroom window was 10 feet off the road...

Overall we had a FANTASTIC Trip and cant wait to come home next to Sandals Negril next year…..

TIPS:
1. See Chris... bartender during the day at the piano bar (next to sundowners) have a Crazy Chris.. they are great... He has been there 20 years, knows just about everything.. if you have a question he can answer it! He really helped make the trip for us.

2. Walk off the beach between the sandals and beaches (sundowner end) and there is a shopping "mall" and a small hotel between the 2 resorts.... kinda cool....

3. The lobster on the beach was yummy..... Fireman walks the beach carrying 2 live lobsters, takes your order and brings you back a grilled lobster, cut in half w bread wrapped in foil...The locals are allowed to walk along the water... No one was pushy or rude, Just say no thanks and they will respect it..... They were very nice, would always say hello...

4. NO PANTS!!! (made hubby very happy) except kimonos... even to the SSG dinner.. it is very casual.... a few women were in heels and cute sundresses (read too short or too tight for a post grad body) most were in flats and a casual sundress....

5. Important lesson: You are never too old or too chubby for a bikini there..... ;)

We have travelled to the Carribean / Mexico probably about 15 times. Sandals Negril was by far the best that we have ever come across. The beach was amazing, service fantastic and food was absolutely tremendous. There was ample water sports - all included. My wife and I took a spin at the tubing but you could also water ski, knee board, snorkel, paddle trike etc. Our room overlooked the ocean. There wasn't anything I would want different.
