“Exactly what was expected-- in a good way!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2014

I am a female in my mid 20's, and went to Negril with my female best friend. The hotel was pretty much what we expected based on the reviews. Simple, cute, quaint. We weren't looking for bells and whistles since we did not plan on spending much time in our room. We did not opt to do the all-inclusive since we wanted to eat at the local eateries as much as possible. That was probably a mistake, financially speaking. Learned my lesson that even with eating mostly off the resort, all-inclusive is worth it solely for the DRINKS. A day lounging on the beach ordering just a few drinks certainly adds up! The food at the hotel was alright, nothing special. My friend and I ate Jamaican the entire time at all the little mom & pops on the strip, which were absolutely delicious. Walking around the area was very tough for two females. Granted, we were warned of this ahead of time, and aware that it is highly recommended to stay on the resort at all times when staying in Jamaica. My friend and I are travelers that like to be immersed in the culture of the location we are visiting, so we opted out. As a result, we would never go to Jamaica again unless we stay completely on the resort (or with our significant others). Overall, we had an amazing time and we are glad we went! I do not recommend solo females traveling there unless doing all-inclusive. The guards at Legends were wonderful. They were always looking out for us, and were very accommodating the whole time. They recommended safe, reliable, and great tour guides and services. We basically went to them for anything we wanted and needed. The beach at Legends is beautiful. We were approached about every 10 minutes bythe "hustlers" and such, so it was a bit difficult to relax sometimes. But luckily, the hotel had a security guard that kept an eye on the guests and would move people along if it became too much. Within the gates of the hotel, on both sides, (my friend and I were across the street on the garden side) it was peaceful, relaxing, beautiful, and safe. Our side had a big pool in the back that was always empty and quiet. The hotel provides a free shuttle daily to their sister hotel Samsara, which is on the West End. It is ABSOLUTELY worth a trip! It's absolutely stunning and sits on the side of cliffs rather than the beach. Make sure you check it out! If you have all-inclusive at Legends, you can use it at that hotel as well, just show them your bracelet. Over all-- it's a great resort if you're looking for something mellow and quaint! Definitely make sure to do the all-inclusive, but take the time to try the local cuisine, especially at Goa (down the street) and Sweet Spice Restaurant (short cab drive away).

Room Tip: Rooms on the garden side are a bit quieter, it's directly across the street from the lobby

A group of 9 girls stayed at the Legends celebrating a birthday. We had 4 rooms all on the beach side; two facing the beach on the second floor and 2 facing the walkway to the beach. The rooms with two double beds were spacious enough for a rollaway. The king size bed room too had room for a roll away bed. Bathrooms are minimal ...no counter to put make up or hair dryers. Rooms were clean and beds okay. The location is the perfect spot on the beach! The reason to stay here is location and the staff. The Operations Manager, Paul Wilson, is always on site and ready to assist. We did have issues with our hotel reservation that was booked in Sept four months in advance. Due to a power outage with their reservation system the night before, we did not have all 4 rooms the first night so we opted to have roll aways in our rooms. The hotel did offer us to stay next door but after checking it out we felt safer at Legends.

The night guard at the hotel, Damar, was superb. He knew when all 9 of us were off the property and provided us great information for our safety. He made sure we all got back to our rooms once on the property. He truly knows how to engage with the guests and makes you feel safe. Jamaica in our opinion was a little "sketchy" so having Damar at the front door at night was a plus.
The waitress, Roneika, was so accommodating and so nice. We had the breakfast buffet every morning which was about $12.00 U.S. as we were not on the All -Inclusive. Being from Texas we ordered ice tea and she brought us a pitcher of tea! We like a lot of ice so she made sure our cups were full of ice. She smiled all the time and was resourceful on all of our questions. She is a true gem for the resort and if you have the chance request her tables. Our food was great. Breakfast omlettes, french toast or pancakes, cereal, fresh fruit, toast, juice... enjoy.

The bartender, Tiffany, was great. She mixed great drinks and was so happy when we talked with her. She would smile and make you feel like she was thinking..."you girls are having too much fun".

Overall the hotel is a 3 star hotel. Don't expect any more than that. The reviews are accurate so I knew when I booked what we were getting. Walking 7 mile beach we felt that we were in the best hotel by far. So if you are looking to stay on 7 mile beach this is the place.

Love that this was a small hotel!

Room Tip: We stayed beach side right above the restaurant. No noise, No loud music...over looked the Carribbea...

We've stayed at Legends twice and happily recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Negril for a reasonable price...Legends is great value...

I can't say enough about the Legends' staff, a wonderful group of people who cannot due enough for the guests. We've had small problems with our rooms, one an air conditioning issue, the other plumbing, and in each instance the staff responded quickly to resolve the problem. A meal or a bottle of wine were comped for our trouble/inconvenience.

The rooms are comfortable, clean and secure. The grounds are lush with plants and trees, the sound of reggae floats above from the adjacent music bars. A nice slice of Jamaica...

The location is terrific, there are music bars and restaurants within walking distance on the beach or via Norman Manley Rd...The beach is pristine and lively...

Legends is simply a great place to hang out, chill on the beach, enjoy a Red Stripe, listen to the music and enjoy what Jamaica has to offer...

Room Tip: The 'ocean view' rooms do not all have a view of the ocean, they are simply on the ocean sid...

I took my 2 daughters to Negril for a way over due family vacation. We stayed at Legends, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The front desk staff was amazing (HI Leona, Kayon and Timesha) These ladies were always quick with a smile and so helpful. We found all the staff friendly, respectful and helpful.
We were lucky enough to get a room with an ocean view, one of 5. Our room was clean and cleaned daily. Yes the pillows leave a bit to be desired as they are hard and flat, so you might want to bring one with you. Depending on when you get back to you room in the afternoon the towels may not be ready, but were usually back by 330 the latest.
We did not have the all inclusive as we wanted to try a more local approach to dining out, but did eat when we first arrived as our rooms weren't ready, I had a cheeseburger and was not impressed. But the drinks were good and strong!

Yes this is not a first class resort, and if you are some spoiled traveler, then Legends is not for you , but if you want a relaxing, great value for your money type of vacation then I highly recommend you stay at Legends I know I will be staying there on my next trip down!!!.

We traveling aroung all Jamaica in January 2014. We visited many places and stayed in many hotels for 15 days. Hotel Legends in Negril was not so perfect. Price was not cheap 120 $ without breakfast. Room clean serviss was not good, at first staff take all towels from the room and put it back too late. After swimming in the sea we had to use our beach towels with sand. Also near hotel was very big garbage, smell was terrible :( first night we not slept. Beach sofas was very old. No air condition in the room.
Hotel staff was very friendly! If you would like order all incl -> 100$/2 pers. Near hotel shopping center, where you can buy suvenirs, dresses, wathes and other. 2 swimming pools in hotel. Part of hotel situated near the sea, part across the road.

We were here for one day to use their facilities, since we were staying at the sister resort, Samsara. Thus, this review is only for the beach itself and the food/drinks offered in the restaurant.

There are three rows of loungers, and the first row is reserved for those who can stand being harassed every two minutes. Those street vendors are relentless. The only one I looked for was the guy selling meat paddies. USD $1.5 each, and so delicious! Cooked lobster is also available although I didn't get any since I already had a full meal.

When we arrived a little past 10am, we were able to get loungers in the second row. When a hawker approached my lounger, security told them to leave me alone. I thanked security. Our neighbors from Samsara got loungers and chairs at the place next door for the whole day, just for ordering some drinks. They got umbrellas, too. They weren't on the all-inclusive plan, so it didn't matter to them where they were sitting or drinking. I agree and would recommend you do the same, if you choose not to be on the all-inclusive and don't care to wake up early just to get a lounger in the Legends section. Legends provide a few inflatable loungers, so you can float in the ocean.

We had their served buffet for lunch, but it's nothing to rave about. Very basic stuff: burgers and fries. There's an outdoor seating area so you can enjoy your meals and drinks on the beach. Ice cream is not included in the all-inclusive plan.

There's an outdoor showerhead by the small pool in the garden, so when you want to wash the salt off, you'll need to head through the restaurant and proceed to the pool.
