The grounds were lovely well kept, food to salty with mostly rude staff, stayed in the pillar house which was a fabulous view, pillar house badly in need of renovations although maid service was good.Never do all inclusive on this property. Totally over priced definitely not worth the money. Only select drinks with all inclusive,

Room Tip: No best room on the property, badly in need of renovations.

I have just returned from two weeks at Samara and had a great relaxing time, most of the staff are lovely & always smiling (apart from Dian she was Mardi everyday, never smiled and had no manners) service was tops so please tip as they earn just £8 a day.The view was great and there were plenty of sun beds and a good sized pool. Food was always nice we never had one bad meal here. Breakfast was great and the eggs are cooked to your liking. our room was cleaned everyday and the shower was lovely and hot everyday. If you decide to go on any of the tours ask for Decorda he is the best and the cheapest, he changed our booked trip for another day to suit ( we were asked to attend a wedding for a couple of guest we met there) & on our last day he came from another hotel just to say bye.
DOWN SIDE sorry but best to know before you go. The pool wasn't cleaned everyday bugs floating around and it was slimy I'm guessing from sun cream the day before. The rooms are very tired. The drinks are expensive. £5 for Pina Colada £3 for a small red stripe. For buffet breakfast lunch or dinner was £10 EACH so I advise booking the AI option with your travel agent for extra £400 per couple for two weeks, we went bed and breakfast thinking it would be cheap to eat out and experience the culture I was wrong we were advised by the reps, taxi's and other fellow holiday makers that it is very dangerous to walk in the streets after 6pm and even a risk in the day. After we were told this we inquired about going AI but was told at reception that it would cost £ 90 a day for the two of us £1290 total, there was a card in our room saying that if you upgrade to AI for 7 days you get 3 days free we inquired about this after we were given our price but reception do not do the offer anymore, they should remove the card from the room and reception. in the brochure it stated a gym this consisted of a row and a bike with a few weights in the open paved area (we did chuckle at this) also the activities that are free for AI guest is no longer available. There is no entertainment at all and no facilities whatsoever for children, We booked an air conditioned room but upon arriving we were told it was an extra £8 per day , you have no choice to pay as its so hot.The minute your tab is over £150 your told to pay now at reception then we can serve you. They had our credit card at reception so I found this very embarrassing as it was said in front of everyone and made us look like we had run up a huge tab we could not afford to pay, we paid cash anyway as we wanted to use all our dollars up before returning home also there is a 4% card charge.
As much as I loved the scenery i would not return it is more expensive than Britain (even the cheap tat shops) Ricks Cafe is the place to hang but is also expensive we paid we paid £80 FOR CHICKEN breast in jerk sauce and chips x 2 & 4 small red stripe. over the road from Samsara there is a cafe called King Royal the owners are lovely they reopened up just for us one night when they seen us coming the food is great & the owner chats away to you giving you all the local gossip, we paid £4 for chicken and chips £6 for jerk chicken, £16 for Lobster.beware of the drug dealers next door the owner does tell them to leave you alone & and they never asked us again for the rest of our stay. Our hotel staff tried to sell it to us as well, great if your into that but if your not be prepared to get harassed everyday. Our rep who was a local informed us that 75% of Jamaica smoke pot, I'm guessing the 25% left are the children. Iv been honest & hope you find this useful.

Don't get the all inclusive. Place is okey, people are friendly, location is on the cliffs, the only good thing is that they will shouttle you to their sister hotel in the 7 mile beach

The Samsara resort and it's facilities is worth 3 stars. My experience there was 5+ stars though, so I rated this place a 4 out of 5 overall.

Don't expect frills with your accomodation. The resort can use a remodel and repairs in certain spots, but nothing is unbearable. The rooms are basic but have a lot of space. I stayed in one of the hexagon shaped rooms. We had our own entrance and porch and it felt private. We did not have A/C but the cieling fan was way better anyway. There were five speeds that worked great for different parts of the day. Overall the room was clean and we recevied fresh towels daily. The more carefree and enlightened souls would not have a problem spending a few days here.

By far, the Samsara's greatest feature is location location location! I would be surprised if there were other places better to catch a sunset on the cliffs (see pic). Even better is they offer 2 for 1 Sunset Happy Hour from 4pm to 7pm. I probably had about 6 drinks for around $25 to $30 which included a tip. You should order a coke and rum if Owayne is behind the bar - he can make a stiff one.

Swimming at Samsara is quite enjoyable. The pool was clean and kept at a nice temperature. The cliffs were simply amazing and should be experienced if you are in Negril. I would say the highest cliff is about 15 feet, so they are more like mini-cliffs, but they are just perfect for jumping off! They also make for great snorkeling. The water was calm and lukewarm when I was there and we spend a lot if time swimming. The hotel is also located within walking distance of Ciao, Three Dives, Sips & Bites and a few other great local spots. On one afternoon, we had a pizza delivered from Ciao and ate it on our porch (see pic).

The staff was great and friendly to me. People who complain probably just didn't take the time to try to talk to them. I would tip them a few bucks even if you are all-inclusive and you will get some nice drinks. For the vlaue and location, Samsara is worth a try.

Let me say that we have stayed in hotels and resorts all over the Caribbean for years and this was the worst place ever; misrepresented on their website, photos of the 'resort' must be when the place was new, because I have "after" photos to go along with their apparent "before" photos showing the place in near utter disrepair. We had to buy beach towels in the overly priced gift shop because there were none available by the pool or cliffs area, or placed in our room.

We did not sleep the 2 nights were stayed. I had reservations for 6 days/5 nights and selected the 'all inclusive' plan which is misnamed. Housekeeping, room quality, poor and unfriendly service just touch the surface of this awful experience. The air conditioner made so much noise, when it actually decide to work at all, that we also used the ceiling fan until we decided it might wobble off the ceiling and fall on us. The AC stopped around 3 am both nights and nothing we could do to turn it back on because the power was cut to the unit.

The buffet meal for this the all-inclusive package was practically not worth the trip to the restaurant. Poor choices, no variety and of average quality and taste. Most drinks @ the bar where not covered on the package either, beyond unnamed draft beer and sodas available in the 'plan' you have to pay for Red Stripe and some of the liquors for cocktails.

I moved us to an all-inclusive 'chain' resort that luckily had a room available on very short notice. Our vacation vastly improved as soon as we vacated Samsara. Now I'm faced with trying to get our money back for the unused portion of the trip; what a NIGHTMARE.

Also, please note that the staff at Samsara is not kind, there is no one manning the front desk in the middle of the night or 'afterhours' and I use that term loosely, and the only person at Samsara that was truly a joy to deal with is Peter, the front lobby 'door man.'

Room Tip: no good rooms
