“Great Relaxing Place!”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

My second of I am hoping many stays at Samsara. If you don't want one of those "city" type resorts that easily have a 1000 or more people, this is truly a great place. Small, intimate and quiet. Being up on the cliffs is just awesome. A really relaxing and chilled vibe. Incredible sunsets. Don't expect the endless buffets you get at the big resorts, the choices are limited, but the food is really good. Your also a short walk or few dollar cab ride to some of the best real local food I've ever had. The staff is a just the best, everyone is warm and friendly. Greet with by name and with a smile every day. If you one of those who may never leave your resort and like to be pampered with luxury and the endless party scene(which totally fine if that's what you like) then stay at one of the big guys. But if you want a relaxing good time and see some real Jamaica, than Samsara is for you.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Samsara. This was a return visit for us and the room renovations were quite evident. Our room faced West with a view of the ocean and was worth the cost of the upgrade. This hotel is small and provides a relaxing, laid back atmosphere. It is a place without the hustle of the larger resorts.
Check in was smooth and easy. Our room was comfortable with plenty of storage space for two adults with scuba gear in addition to the usual vacation clothes. One downside is that there is not an abundance of electrical outlets in the rooms to plug in chargers for tablets, laptops, etc. Also no outlet in the bathroom which makes using a hair drier in front of a mirror difficult. Housekeeping did a wonderful job of keeping the room clean and fresh towels and a bath mat were delivered daily after the room had been cleaned.
There were plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and on the area overlooking the ocean. so finding a place to relax was never a problem. We did the all inclusive option and the food was good. Selections were limited, but everything was well prepared and you won't go hungry. The restaurant staff was friendly and helpful as was everyone we talked to at the front desk. The front desk staff was very helpful when we had questions and always asked if we needed anything when they saw us in the lobby. The bartenders at the small bar were friendly and efficient. There is no big production entertainment which made meeting and talking to other guests enjoyable. A small Reggae group performed several evenings and that was it for entertainment. Two nights a week dinner is served downstairs next to the bar and you can eat under the stars at tables set overlooking the water.
There is a daily shuttle to Legends which is located on the Beach. The Samsara and Legends have exchange privileges and two nights a week you can take an evening shuttle to Legends and have dinner there. During the day you can be on the beach and enjoy lunch there if you want a change of scenery.
We did scuba dive with the PADI dive shop located at the resort. The owner and the divemasters were great and very helpful. You can dive right there off the cliffs or do boat dives arranged by the shop staff.
This is a resort for people who want a laid back, relaxed vacation. It is a short ride into Negril if you want to do some shopping. There were very few families with children while we were there. The cliffs are open to the ocean with a direct drop into the water. There are ladders to climb back up the cliffs.
We would definitely consider a third trip to the stay at Samsara and hope to return again soon.

Room Tip: The West facing rooms have a great sunset view.

Samsara is a great little gem of a resort that won't cost you a fortune. The property is big and lush, so it never feels crowded. Tons of patio space overlooking the sea with built in sun shades. We were upgraded to a Pillar House upon arrival and were thrilled. We didn't use the pool, opting to launch off the cliffs into the perfectly temperate sea when we got hot, but the pool was beautiful and well-maintained. The staff was great. The ping pong tournaments are fierce. I'm usually a pretty exploratory traveler, but this time around we barely left the resort. Their sister restaurant across the street is charming and delicious. If you like a unique experience and can appreciate simple charms, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Pillar Houses are the way to do it. Great ocean views, your own patio with hammock, warm outdoor sho...

Me and my now FIANCE stayed here here for four nights this past thanksgiving and we had a great time. We stayed in room 16 which has 1 queen size bed and a single bed, tv and air condition. Its not the Ritz Carlton but it is very comfortable and clean. They multiple spots where you can jump off and enjoy the sea as well as a mid sized swimming pool when its high tide.
We did not do the all inclusive meal plan since we always venture out to the local spots. We rented a fridge to store beers and mixers which was about $10.

It is a good maybe 3-5 minute ride to get to Rick's Cafe which is great since its really one of the best bars there.
Everyone was nice and pleasant and they set us up to go to the Mayfield Falls which is a MUST to do activity.

I will definitely come back to this resort.

Samsara was such a wonderful place to stay! Everyone was so helpful and accommodating, and the beauty of the property and the sea is unbelievable! I hosted a yoga retreat there with about 10 guests and we could not have felt more at home. The owners and staff at Samsara really want to take care if you and make aure your every need is met!! We host our next Joy Of Yoga Retreat here February 2014 and I'm already counting down the days!! (This retreat is open to anyone- message me if you'd like to join. We'd love to have you!)

For the right traveler, this place is heaven on earth. I almost hate to put the word out, because we love getting our pillar house when we want it, but there is no other way to stay at the cliffs, in my opinion. The staff is attentive without being intrusive - shout out's to Sharona and O'Wayne and JC and the rest. We don't do AI's, so I would recommend to anyone who opts out,,,,and drinks coffee to bring your own pot. Otherwise, you can't ask for a better time, view, vibe or vacation.

Room Tip: If you can, request (and spend a little more) for the pillar houses. There are only 4, and sometime...

Me and my husband, were here at this hotel on Nov 15/19.. We had a great time, the hotel is simple but nice, I will make some chances if I were the owner but nothing serious, the staff is great.
We got the all inclusive deal, not bad at all, the food was very good, expect you have to eat at set times,(didn't like that much, sometimes we will be hungry and have to wait or eat some where else) the bar closes to early 10:00 pm, I think maybe 12:00 pm will be a decent time. Besides this everything was great, amazing location, stunning sunsets, the cliff was so much fun, we loved it, it felt like we were high school kids again!
The staff were awesome, Wayne the bartender at nights, was great, I asked him for a good drink that wasn't so sweet, he gave me Boston's something,It was very good a mix with rum, lime, and ginger soda.
Jorge one of the maintenance guy was awesome too, he got me some coconut water, straight from the palm loved it!!! Ask him to get you some, if you ever go.
The room was good, nothing fancy but have everything you need and the best thing is the view, was just breath taking, I 've got to wake up to that view for 4 days, I'm thankful for that..
Really Jamaican in general is amazing, we love going to this island, nothing but good memories, I feel so alive when I'm in there. If you ever go, make sure you visit Rick's cafe is a top 10 bar in the world, when you go there you'll see why..also the blue hole great experience, we got the tour from a Rasta that stays outside the hotel by the store, he only charge us $50.00 which is a great price, he goes every were and for local prices, go check him out before you do a tour with the hotel, is way more expensive, he is a trustworthy, and nice person. Don't need to worry.
Well as you read, we had a great time at Samsara and Legends hotel, great experience, we will be back again, but this time for more then 4 nights lol.

Room Tip: Ocean view..
