Samsara Cliffs Resort
Ranked #31 of 80 Hotels in Negril
Reviewed 8 May 2014

The Samsara is just as beautiful as the pictures show ~ the cliff setting is fun yet relaxing and unique. Visited May 2-5 for a long week-end. The front desk staff is efficient and informative with restaurant and attraction suggestions. Peter who mans the front door is the best! Always ready to find you a taxi or escort you across the street. We chose to eat off the resort and can recommend Push Cart, Spice and Ciao ~ definitely go to Rockhouse as well. It is beautiful at night ~ we didn't eat there but would have if we had more time.
We stayed in the cottage and loved the rustic charm of ceiling fans, shutters and hammocks ~ big shower, TV ~ not much more needed. The cottages don't have air conditioning and there wasn't much breeze so if you are uncomfortable without air conditioning this might not work for you. My daughter asked for a fan, one was delivered and she was fine after that.
The resort has plenty of lounge chairs around the cliffs and pool and cabana shades ~ no need to go out and reserve early. Nice outdoor bar area, eating area outside and on second floor with great views. The grounds are lush, tropical and well maintained.
Overall, the Samsara is a place I would recommend and definitely visit again.

I had the best times at the samsara and the legend. The samsara is beautifull the garden well kept and the food is great, the cooks georgia and kelly-ann are amazing and are really nice. The barman owayne always as a smile on its face and will be happy to let you know where is the party for the night. The waitress are always nice and firendly and the staff at the front desk attentive. We took the shuttle bus pretty much everyday to go to the beach at the legend and the driver gregory is hilarious. Once there the friendly staff once again made our stay a charm especially Jenese and Rosey-Shana. I am in love with jamaica and defintely comming back

stay here from Apr. 24-May 1, the 1st room was not good, 2 small beds in a very small unattractive room, which was changed to a king bed spacious with a better ocean view. the maid didn't give another wash clothes when in fact I had only 1 wash cloth, stating she placed 2 wash clothes there earlier, just gave up the soaps. I later complained to the ladies at the front desk who were always pleasant. I was told internet is very slow there...... with a min of 15 mins at $1 per min I think. I didn't use it. No water bottles, no ice box, if u want an ice box it's $12.00 US per day. the bucket of ice u have 2 get from the bar doesn't last 2 long. If u want guest over nite there is an extra charge with tax of $25.US per nite. the food at the restaurant across the street gave me upset stomach for 2 whole days, NEVER EVER EAT THERE AGAIN.... gift shop has good prices of beach towels b/c this hotel doesn't give u any!! I like it there, but would stay else where when I go back to Negril. The safes are not in the rooms, only at the front desk for a daily upfront charge of $3.60 plus taxes. the shuffle bus to the sister hotel Legends leaves at 10am, pickups up at 4pm... then again leaves Samsara at 6:30pm-9pm. I did go to Legend once & the sellers do NOT STOP with asking you to buy this & that..... the beach is lovely there..... didn't eat there either. beds are VERY hard.

Room Tip: room cottages looks much nicer with plenty of more privacy on the cliff or get the front ocean view...

We booked this trip 48 hrs before going. We are used to travelling to Mexico/Cuba. Neither of us had been to Jamaica before. I'm not going to lie; when we first arrived at Samsara, we were "what have we done!". The hotel itself is "rustic'. The rooms are basic..shower/sink/bed and dresser. We had a small tv in the room as well. They were clean and well maintained.
We were a little intimidated by the fact that we only had one buffet restaurant; but let me tell you.. the food was delicious. Homecooked meals every day. It was just like going to grammas for every meal. Everything was authentic Jamaican. But let me warn you; that just like at Grammas, you have only certain times to eat. Breakfast 8-10 Lunch 12-2 Supper 7-9. No snacks. There is a grocery store about 5 minutes down the road that we went to for snacks and bottled beer. You only have draft beer available for all inclusive, so we bought a case of 24 RED STRIPE for $24US. Wine isn't included in all inclusive either, so we bought that too.
If you want a change for meals, CIAO across the road is excellent. I recommend the lobster pizza...to die for!! And don't miss out on breakfast or lunch at PABLO'S down the street a little bit.
It is a little hole in the wall place, but Pablo makes the best breakfast French toast, and Ox tail for lunch.

It took no time at all to appreciate the location and ocean views! One word "AMAZING".

sunsets were incredible. The marine wildlife that we had an opportunity to see was awesome..dolphins in their natural habitat; schools of flying fish..

We both agreed by the end of our week, that this trip was the most relaxing vacation that either of us had ever had.

There is nothing to do at the hotel itself, but many things to see and do in Negril and surrounding area. We chose to stay at the resort most of the time. But some of the people who we met there went to various places throughout the area.

This resort is a hidden gem. You really have to forget about every resort that you may have stayed at in the past, and totally embrace this place. You will not be disappointed. Relax, enjoy the views, experience the culture.

There are a few things that you should know before you go. They do not provide beach towels, so bring your own. We had to buy ours. They don't initially provide facecloths, so bring your own, or ask at the front desk upon arrival.

Go snorkeling with the glassbottom boats. We went out one day, and it was amazing. Take "SUN BABY" with CAPTAIN ROGER!! He and his partner Kirk, will take you out to the coral reef and let you snorkel for about 90 minutes. They go in with you and point out marine life for you. They are wonderful.

Over all, I would totally recommend this resort. You will love it!
We would definitely return, but next time, would not go all inclusive. There are many little restaurants within walking distance, and they are delicious and cheap. If you like, you can go to the grocery store and buy wine, beer, or liquor for relatively cheap.

Enjoy!!!

Room Tip: Room 114 is where we stayed..King bed and bit room

We don't typically do the all inclusive resort thing. This trip was booked at the last minute and on a budget but we got exactly what we wanted. The key to enjoying Samsara is knowing what its all about before you get there. If you're looking for luxury, gourmet food and a party vibe then you should look elsewhere. However, if you're looking for comfort, relaxation, a chill atmosphere and great service then this place is great. Highlights were the cliffs, the sunsets, snorkeling and the staff. Another great feature was the free shuttle to Legends resort which is on the beach, so you can get the best of both worlds. What the food lacks in variety it makes up for in home-style goodness. If you want excellent jerk chicken walk 10 mins down the road to 3 Dives. We also went to Rick's cafe ($5 taxi) which was ok, but aside from the watching the cliff jumpers its a full fledged tourist trap.

We spent our honeymoon in Jamaica in January 25- February 2, our first trip to Jamaica, let me tell you the minute we got to the hotel we were greeted by everyone from Samsara w/a smile. Peter the greeter made you feel safe crossing the streets. Owen the bartender was top of the line hilarious.
We stayed at pillar T3 and it was amazing, the view, the service, the food was excellent. We are definitely coming back to Jamaica and staying at the Samsara Hotel

Room Tip: Pillar room is private and romantic, it has no air condition but when you open the windows it is a c...

We have been back for two weeks, and we are still talking about our Holiday, The resort was great, people there were helpful when needed, and left us alone when not needed, this is not party central, but Heaven on Earth for true relaxation. We had the pillar house, and do not regret it for a second..... solitude, view, privacy and overall "unique" factor, made the upgrade more then worthwhile. I could have complaints if i wanted to, the fact of the matter is, it was all things that didn't matter.. fresher paint, quieter ceiling fan, a toilet that rocked back and forth a little...we had ten days, for our 25th Anniversary, and we loved it... I would go back again in a heartbeat... I cannot comment on the food, as we went European (Not Inclusive), just because we wanted to sample the great local restaurants in the area, and there are many. Samsara has a beautiful restaurant across the street, called Ciao Jamaica... beautiful food, try the Snapper de Limone, or the Spaghetti Stir Fry....in ten days, we went 3 times, with no regrets, along with a couple of their pizza's thrown in late night as well...Honest bartenders at the resort... had one girl overcharge me, and I knew it, the other girl there corrected her, and brought me my change back...very nice to see. In closing, if you want to truly relax, this can be the place for you, if you don't want to nik-pic every little thing that is not a 100%.... as Arnie says... I'll be Back.. Thanks Samsara, and hope to see you soon

Room Tip: Had the blue Pillar room, T-4... closet to the ocean, furthest away from everyone and everything, an...
