“Great for families and couples!”
Reviewed 18 May 2010

We stayed here because we were in Negril for a wedding and did not want to do the big resort thing. What a fantastic time! The service is outstanding! We had two good sized cottages-- one was for my husband, myself and our 3 little kids and the other for my sister, her fiance and my mother and grandmother. We all had so much fun. Errol the security guard will not only keep you safe, but will make sure your beach chairs are ready for you in your favorite spot every single morning. No worries about anyone bothering you on the beach-- Errol will not allow it! If you want to buy something you can, but we never felt harassed. A simple "no thank you" and that was all it took. Make sure you buy patties for lunch from the patty man!! Moses keeps the grounds looking picture perfect everyday, and all the ladies will clean, cook, and make you feel right at home. You want fresh fish? Let someone know and they will call the fish guy to bring the catch of the day for your choosing, and then they will cook it for you! Like fresh orange juice? Just ask and someone will call the fruit man so you can buy a gigantic bag a fruit for cheap! Want to go snorkeling or on a boat ride? Just ask Errol or someone for their trusted recommendations and you will be in good hands! The bar next door has drink specials everyday...you can grab a drink, then sit on on an inflatable chair in the water and relax in the sun, or plant your bottom on a beach chair and watch your kids play all day long, and practically have the beach to themselves! Our rooms were perfect, clean, and we had everything we could have needed and more. Even though I know there were other people staying there, it seemed like we were the only ones! You can lay in the hammock in the garden and surf the internet (free wi-fi!!), or play cards in your cottage. NO TV...what a gift! We did not have to worry about the kids asking about watching TV. We played chess, checkers, read books, played cards, and really had some quality family time. This place would be great for couples on a honeymoon too. If you want to be pampered, well taken care of, and experience paradise right on the beach, then this is the place for you!

Nirvana was in the perfect location that allowed us to get away from the typical resort-style vacation. By far the nicest beach and grounds we saw on our walks up and down the beach. The staff was very friendly, the room was spotless, and the information provided in the room was helpful. We didn't know what to expect and were a little nervous about being on our own in Negril but were pleasantly surprised with the whole trip. We will definitely be back (hopefully in the near future!) to Nirvana.

Tips: 1) Grocery store 10 minutes by taxi, but plenty of restaurants on beach. Try jerk stands on the roadside, especially The Best in the West, across the street, for the best grilled shrimp. 2) Bring bug spray for mosquitoes after sunset. 3) Bring a flashlight just in case. 4) Go the the West End/Cliffs and LTU Pub for a beautiful view and amazing food.

My future wife at the time wanted something different than the box hotels and wanted to get married in a place we could see ourselves comming back to. We wanted something special as our wedding to each other. We found it in Nirvana. We stayed in the owners villa and felt like home on the seven mile beach outside our front door. This place is big, clean with a kitchen, living rm,dinning rm, big bed rm, huge bath that is a spoiler-wish it was in my house, extra shower outside-kool stuff. It has a veranda that overlooks the ocean and beach. The grounds are well taken care of and very tropical, like a park setting with plenty of places to kick back. The beach is outstanding, shopping, food, stuff to do all the time or just lay and enjoy. What reallly makes Nirvana is the staff, I can not say enough, they made our trip and wedding complete. We highly recomend giving Nirvana a shot. You will find yourself going back as we are this fall for our two year annv.

First time in Jamaica! We couldn't have picked a better Resort to stay at. Nirvana on the Beach <located in the middle of 7 mile beach/ Negril> was wonderful. My 25 year old son stayed with us for the first week. He loved everything about Jamaica! The staff is what makes Nirvana such a great place to stay. As well as our 2 bedroom cottage complete with kitchen & large full bathroom! Lyn & Leonie are wonderful , friendly & can cook up the best meals we had in Jamaica! Shine, Nicardo & Errol made us feel very safe & Welcome! David our driver was excellent, helpful , knowledgeable & patient! Moses 1 & 2 & Ottis kept the grounds well groomed! Leora gave my son one of the best massages-< on the patio / outside>- he has ever had We truly love all of the staff at Nirvana- they are the reason we will come back again to Jamaica & stay at Nirvana! We enjoyed their island, culture & music. Every question that we asked was answered & request met. Two of our favorite places to go for a meal was Idle Awhile & Norma's- great food! Just walk the beach & enjoy ! No problem!

Every review written before mine says the same thing. Love the Staff, beautiful grounds, excellent cooks, etc. etc. All the things written are true. We stayed in the owners villa for 10 days. We watched sunsets from our verandah every night while we heated up our meals that were prepared by the ladies. Excellent cooks! David took us to the Hi-Lo and helped us get everything we needed. He was a big help. They cooked for us 4 times and we had left overs 3 times. We ate breakfast next door a few times and it was very good but very slow. Lunch we'd eat from the sandwich vendors on the beach or make our own sandwiches.

We both agreed we have never had a more relaxing vacation. We slept well, we ate well and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Words of advise. . . if you want to have drinks at night bring your own. Alcohol is very expensive! If you want to work out use the Negril Gym do not go to Swept Away. While Swept Away is a beautiful facility they will grossly overcharge you to use it. Negril Gym is old but serves it's purpose and the people are very nice. It cost us $2.00 to take a cab there and they charge $5.00 per day. We'd walk the beach back.

We went and looked at several other places on the beach and talked to people who were staying there and we feel Nirvana was the best choice. My only problem now is that I've set the standard so high my husband doesn't feel we can find another to place that is comparable. This means we'll most likely be back!

We both felt that our 10 days went too fast. This has never happened to us before. We're usually ready to get back home to our routines after 7 days. Not after staying at Nirvana.

We were greeted upon arrival and helped up to our verandah suite which was clean and welcoming with an amazing view! We were then taken on a quick look about the property; lounge chairs right on 7 mile beach with fruit trees around, a large hut with hanging chairs and hammocks aswell as a large shared BBQ. A perfect to meet and enjoy the company of the other guests!! The housekeeping serviece was wonderful leaving everything squeeky clean. If you wish to learn about outside activities there was a travellers guide in our room, and the staff as well as the frequent return guests are willing to share their expertise with you. They will also provide you with a safe, well price taxi, and sometimes pick things up for you if you wih not to leave the property!!! We had an all round excellent experience!

Having done all inclusives in Mexico and a Caribbean cruise this was a stretch for us when we first booked it. Turned into one of our most relaxing vacations ever! Learned to make the local food, enyoyed making our own drinks with actual tropical fruit and spent every evening watching the sunset. My teenagers took nothing electronic except portable IPOD speakers for the cabin and NEVER complained of being bored. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, eager to help and completely unobtrusive. Errol does a great job of keeping the beach vendors at bay while still having access to things you might want to do. My only complaint is that Negril is noisy at night, while the reggae parties are over about 1 am they drive fast and honk all night long.
