Description: OUR STORY BEGINS with the opening of Rick's Cafe by its founder, Richard Hershman, in April 1974. At the time, Negril was a sleepy fishing village with little development. It lacked many modern amenities such as electricity, telephone and hot running water. Our beautiful little cliffside location was originally owned by a local doctor, the son of the first Governor General of independent Jamaica. RICK’S CAFE was the first public bar and restaurant of its type on the West End Cliffs, offering an alternative to Negril's majestic seven mile beach. From the beginning, Rick's Cafe boasted an unrivaled view of the sunset from its naturally formed cliffs. Over the years, visitors and locals alike have designated Rick's Cafe as Negril's premier gathering spot and our sunsets have become a Jamaican tradition.

And truly, everyone does! Rick's has above average food but the crowds will push you into the sea. Tour buses from everywhere stock people from every country. It is gorgeous if you can find a seat and put up with the constant 'hacking' from the high divers.

A must place to visit if in Negril. The music and more so the locals diving from incredible heights from the rocks into a beautiful blue sea inlet. Something which anyone wouldn't forget. Even the children get involved by jumping or diving from different heights. Not to mention Ricks chicken served up just as you like it, super experience all round

Nice view of the cliffs. Food was so-so and the merchandise is nice but just very expensive. The cliffs themselves are safe enough but I worry about the boats that come in/out - they are the danger.

It is difficult to go to Nefgril and not visit Rick's cafe. It is one of the most popular location in Negril. There is music, great food, colorful drinks, gift shop and a great scenic view with locals diving of a high cliff. It has the best bathrooms that I have seen a this kind of venue. I will be back!!!

We stopped here during our ocean excursion while staying at the Grand Lido Negril. It is a restaurant atop a mountain over the ocean. There are cliff divers, which were very entertaining. You can dive also if you desire. I disliked having to climb spiral like stairs to the top. I have issues with my knee. It was very crowded. Service was just okay as was the food. Expensive beers. I didn't like being constantly asked for money to give to the cliff divers for their performance either. I would not return. Overpriced gift shop. Kids everywhere too and it isn't a family place to me.
