Surprised us with substantial "x-tras" beyond our expectations.
Amazing staff-friendly & professional, very accomodating-made us feel like family. Always kept us very safe.
Breathtakingly beautiful spot for wedding on San San Beach. Phil was totally amazed and can't wait to go back.
(See photos on www.machenphotography.com Allison & Phil) I was able to plan wedding from States via email & phone.
Great food. Gorgeous & comfortable accomodations. This property is in the preserved rainforest, and every villa overlooks the Carribean. There is an xtra drive or flight into Portland, but the pay off was that we saw very few tourists. Whether swimming in Somerset waterfalls, or lounging at the beach in a luxurious chaise, we were usually the only couple there & it was very private, other than staff or security on grounds.

Much has been written on this site regarding the ‘Geejam Experience’, and we are happy to report that in all aspects, my wife and I would agree with the positive comments posted. We recently spent 5 nights at Geejam, we stayed in ‘Mento’, the accommodation was perfect, we were surrounded by lush vegetation and from our deck we had a wonderful view of the ocean/cove, we could relax in the hammock or the 2 seat lounge bed, in addition we used the hot-tub. The food was very good, actually the whole experience was so relaxing we never left the property – we will next year upon our return! The private beach area is well thought out and maintained; loungers, beds, chairs etc. Being such a small and private resort you will soon know the names of all the employees, Jason, Noel, Iola, Eugene everyone has a great personality, are very friendly and will always accommodate your needs. We have been lucky enough to visit a few luxury resorts e.g. Jade Mountain in St.Lucia but I would say it’s the attention to details and the small things that set Geejam apart. For example, during breakfast your room is cleaned and upon arrival and departure one of the Owners will meet and greet you. We did not take the road transport and understand it can take 2 plus hours, we opted for the Helicopter transfer, which literally lands and takes off from a neighbors land, the Helicopter ride is about 30 minutes and a great way to see the island from Kingston to Geejam.

You read so much about the scenery at Geejam, as well as how beautiful the rooms are. And it's all true. But the untold story of Geejam are the people who make the experience so wonderful. First, we had the coolest drivers on the island taking us to and from all the best spots in and around Port Antonio. Then, back at Geejam, we had one of the owners invite us to Fi Wi Sinting, a special annual festival that celebrates the African heritage of the island. That type of personal touch is just so unusual these days. A quick call to reception or to the Bush Bar gets you anything you want, and service is always with a smile, no matter the time.

We stayed in the Drum & Bass suite, which was absolutely stunning. The bathroom was elegant with a large steam shower and lovely free-standing tub. Our deck was enormous with a hot tub and complete privacy.

We also fell in love with Port Antonio. The heart of the island beats strong here.

We can't wait to return to Geejam!

Geejam is so Hip they probably think hip is history. A delightful hotel with design that matches its aspiration, but this English couple were comfortably at home. Take a chic cabin and place it in the tropical forest with every five star amenity and a perfect place is discovered. If you were going to dream a hotel this is it.
There is a media leitmotiv through music and a 'buzz' stimulus of music industry visitors passing through the recording studio. This is a welcome antidote to sybaritic lethargy.
If I describe the new private beach as Hollywood perfect I'm not being cynical.
The restaurant on a tree high deck provides tasty food from a trim menu.
The staff smile, are competent, and nothing is too much trouble.
This technophobe liked the room phone which is a complimentary cellphone. Take it off site so that when you're bored with a local beach the stored number for guest service allows you to call for a driver to carry you back to the hotel at your whim.
Heavens! Does this place really exist? It surely does.

We went to Geejam in Feb. for a mid-winter getaway. We found paradise and we couldn't bear to leave so we had to stay an extra day, which is no small feat considering hurdles like jobs, children, airlines, etc. However, it was so worth it to extend our time in nirvana. Having stayed at Jakes previously, we were familiar with the eclectic luxury offered by Island Outpost resorts, but Geejam exceeded all our expectations. The service and scenery were impeccable. The food was amazing, and our time at the Bush bar was wonderful as the cocktails, company and views couldn't be better. For music lovers, music is a constant theme and we felt as if we had our own movie soundtrack going in the background, thanks to the endless Apple music libraries. While we did have some rain, the beach beds and thatch coverings along w/ the cooler of Red Stripes provided made it all good. When the rain was heavy, we could escape to the beautiful Mento villa and enjoy the storm from our porch or lounge in the soothing clean lines of the cottage and enjoy the snacks, drinks, and movie library at the ready. Jamaica is beautiful, lush, wild and Geejam is an oasis of luxury in the midst of natural beauty. A special thanks to the owners for sharing their slice of heaven.

Where the crystal clear blue ocean, meets the lush, gentle mountain rainforest in quaint Port Antonio is where Geejam will embrace you. You may be a rockstar, or just be made to feel like one!

At the Bush Bar, the fish jump out of the ocean onto your plate with expert preparation from Nigel. Jason will learn your desire and create a drink just for you. The music fills your surroundings exactly to your taste and vibe with loving guidance from Eugene. Your day is on autopilot by the subtle guidance of Jason, Steve and the staff at Geejam. Intimate a request? It is heard and executed effortlessly. Elegant Latrice greets the morning with a smile and fresh pressed French coffee. And Bentley? We wouldn’t be here with out him. He’ll take you from scenic cove to indigenous restaurants and gently navigate the roads to make sure you don’t miss seeing all the hidden gems of the area. He’ll keep a loving yet distant eye on his guests while the respect he garners from his peers embraces you in this handsome paradise. Don’t want to know anyone’s name? That’s ok, they know yours.

YOU are the reason for all of the above. At Geejam, your every whim is catered to. You are tucked away in your own deluxe cabin down hidden paths, in an uber hip room one of only three such accommodations along with a 3-bedroom house on property. You may choose to vacation as if you are the only one there or engage in the positive energy of other guests and staff. Your privacy is Geejams top priority yet; you have the acoutraments of a larger resort. Although there is no spa, a gifted message therapist was brought in to work her magic on a bluff overlooking the ocean.

The activities in this part of Jamaica are plentiful and your safety secure. We loved spending days at Frenchman’s cove just a few minutes complementary drive from Geejam. The Rio Grande River raft trip is a must: the romantic equivalent of a rickshaw ride down shaded paths but with tropical wildlife, vegetation and schools of fish throughout. The pinnacle of our trip was a lunch stop on the shore with crayfish fresh from the river cooked to perfection by Belinda. Belinda is a Jamaican national treasure and her beauty, hospitality and fine picnic dining are all yours with access only by the river.

At the Geejam, a tour of the studio is a must. We sang like rock stars, listened to pitch perfect music and watched videos of Port Antonio’s own mento band, The Jolly Boys. Although not scheduled to play this week and luckily in the country, our Geejam hosts, John and Steve brought in the Jolly Boys for a private concert at the Bushbar to round out our perfect experience.

I need to leave you with one major suggestion to allow you to enjoy more time at Geejam. The ride from Kingston Airport is a good 3 hours on bumpy, harrowing mountain roads. Take a private plane! The cost, ($600 for four of us) was well worth it!

Now go, and ENJOY!

The idea behind the Geejam Hotel in San San, Port Antonio is simple and highly original: Build a small intimate resort around one of the world's great recording studios and provide the high level of personal service that is normally reserved for the superstars who record and vacation there. (Tom Cruise occupied my room not long before my arrival.) Built on a hillside overlooking the sea, the rooms and other amenities are hidden along labyrinthic paths that add to the mystery and charm of the experience. You receive your own cell phone when you arrive, which allows you to call hotel personnel 24/7 to meet all your needs. The Geejam concept is beautifully executed with detailing that truly befits a high-end luxury resort. The blackout curtains do blackout everything; the in-room air conditioners are virtually silent; the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in; the beach furniture is more comfortable than the expensive lounge furniture in my home. To top it off, co-owner Steve Beaver is present at the Bushbar during lunch and dinner to ensure that every guest is made to feel welcome and is getting the full benefit of the Geejam experience. In addition to a private beach, Geejam drivers wisk you off to Frenchman's Cove or the Blue Lagoon (only a few minutes away) for swimming and lounging on the fine sable sand that is the area's trademark. In short, Geejam gave me the greatest vacation experience of my life. Can't wait to go back.
