The first thing we did when we arrived at Geejam after a redeye flight, was fall asleep on our deck in an extremely comfy lounge chair. We were awoken by the tantalizing smell of delicious Jamaican food being cooked across the way at Bush bar... we followed our noses and were absolutely thrilled with our cocktails and meals. After making friends with a few of the other guests and the entire Geejam staff our magical vacation began.... nothing but relaxation, delicious food and fun from then on. Every single staff member of Geejam became a great friend by the end of our trip... from the owners, the chefs and the hosts, to the technicians, gardeners and drivers. We sampled the entire kitchen because we couldn't stop eating their yummy creations. Anything we could possibly want was available to us. I had one of my best and most memorable vacations yet at Geejam and will definitely return!

complete relaxation in the most stunning setting. Fantastic staff and superb food and as a solo traveller felt completely at ease. If you are a music lover this place is a must. The private beach is a truly spectacular spot and nearby Frenchmans Cove is stunning. This is as far from your preconceived ideas of Jamaica as you can get. Ali London

Geejam, a tiny luxury resort in Port Antonio, Jamaica, is a little slice of heaven on earth. Owned by two music industry moguls, Steve Beaver and Jon Baker, it exudes a rockstar vibe and attracts its fair share of them. You don’t have to be a celebrity to stay at Geejam, but you will definitely feel like one while you’re there.

The Geejam property is situated on the side of a mountain within the lush Jamaican rain forest in San San nature reserve. It consists of three guest cottages, one suite, one villa, the Bush Bar restaurant and lounge area, a gym, and a recording studio. The buildings are nestled along the mountainside, connected by charming stone paths and stairways. Each building is far enough away from the others to ensure your total privacy.

DINING: The food at Bush Bar was outstanding. The menu is small and enticing, but it was made clear that we weren’t limited by it. If you had a special request, they would do their best to honor it. In our case, we are major diet soda drinkers. They standardly only have regular soda on hand, but they went out and bought Diet Pepsi just for us and they even stocked the mini fridge in our room with it.

The complimentary breakfast was absolutely delicious – I enjoyed both the simple plate of two eggs and potatoes and the banana pancakes, and Greg loved the omelet. They offer traditional Jamaican breakfast specialties, as well. The only thing lacking at breakfast was fresh pastries and muffins, which is apparently a result of having lost their pastry chef to a long stint on a cruise ship. But after mentioning to Steve that the only thing we wished for at breakfast was fresh pastry, the next morning a basket loaded with fresh croissants and danish magically appeared on our table.

Lunch and dinner were just as enjoyable as breakfast. If I had one complaint, as a dessert-oriented person, it is that the desserts lacked excitement. But I am sure this goes back to the same reason there were no fresh pastries at breakfast. Here’s hoping the pastry chef is back from that cruise ship soon!

BEACH: The Geejam private beach, nestled at the foot of the property, is accessed by a short hike down many many stairs. The stairs are SO worth it, though. You pass through a thick wooden door into a magical oasis. The top section is green and lush with a small playground area and a bed right out of a fantasy. The lower level is an immaculately groomed beach with lounging chairs, comfy shaded beds, a hammock for two, and kayaks.

ACCOMMODATIONS: There are five guest rooms to choose from: three cottages, one suite, and one three-room villa. We stayed in the cottage at the top of the property, Ska. I’ve always had kind of a treehouse fantasy, fueled by watching Swiss Family Robinson a few too many times as a kid. Even though it isn’t technically a tree house, when you’re inside Ska it seems like one, like a luxury treehouse in the rain forest. Heaven. Every room has a cell phone instead of a regular phone – this way you can carry it with you and call for beachside service or a ride from town, etc.

GEEJAM STUDIO: There is also a recording studio on the property. In fact, Geejam started out as a studio, only opening up as a hotel about two years ago. A few notables who have recorded at Geejam include Amy Winehouse, Gwen Stefani, Bjork, and Drake. If you are musically inclined, you can book a recording session for yourse

EXCURSIONS: Geejam’s drivers, Gary and Mr. Bently, are ready to take you into town or town or to one of the area’s beaches. We were so enamored with the Geejam beach and with our room that we didn’t fully take advantage of the possibilities for exploring. We did go to Frenchman’s Cove one afternoon, and I absolutely recommend this as not to miss. Before dropping us at the beach, Mr. Bently drove us up to the top of cliffs to see the view, which was breathtaking.

GETTING THERE: You can fly into either Kingston or Montego Bay airports, where you will be met by a Geejam driver. The drive is pretty long – it took us about three hours from Kingston winding through mountain roads. You can also arrange transfer by helicopter or charter plane, which cuts the trip from Kingston to about 30 minutes.

My husband and I decided to stay at Geejam with our two year old son, since my best friend stays there every year and I heard so many great things about them. We arrived in Kingston Airport at night and drove through the mountains to get to the hotel. That was a bad decision. We got lost and the roads were really rough. It took us forever to get there. The staff at the hotel called me few times to make sure we were OK. We arrived at the hotel pretty late but Jason was waiting on us with some food for us ( that includes special plate for my baby, too.). He looked like a angel after the rough ride and we were starving!! The staff there are so so sweet and friendly. This hotel has so much to offer. Gorgeous private beach to great food to great music and great people. I can't ask more than that. Make sure to visit French man's cove and Blue Lagoon. They are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you, Geejam! We had a wonderful time.

My husband and I spent a fabulous week at GeeJam for our 30th anniversary. Our octagonal bungalow was our private retreat, tucked away in the lush rain forest. From our private hot tub on our balcony we had gorgeous views of the sea. As romantic as this perfect retreat was, we would venture out and up the winding stone steps to the bush bar for lively music and libations or head down to private beach oasis with hammocks for napping and thatched sun huts. A phone call would arrange a friendly driver to take us out to explore the local sights and culture. Waterfalls, river rafting, delicious jerk barbecue and scenic beaches were a close adventure. Thanks to all at Gee jam for a glorious visit!
