I didn't stay here but they offer breakfast to outsiders daily. Me and a friend at breakfast here 3 mornings and each morning we were impressed. The staff is friendly and the food was deliciously prepared! Oh, and it only cost $500 (Jamaican) which is about $5 US. Great deal!

Hotel is located on a side street in Port Antonio just a short walk from the center of this small rural town. On first sighting the hotel we were a little offset by the rustic appearance but on entering found the decor quite pleasant. The staff were attentive and pleasant and Mr. Panton, the manager, was very helpful and always seemed to be there. Good local meals are available but I cannot comment on the available international menu as we ate local. Breakfast comes with the room. On Easter Sunday there was a special brunch and a show featuring Grammy nominated Jamaican artiste Singing Melody. It was a great show and well received by the guests and other members of the audience. My only regret is that they serve instant coffee rather than perk real Jamaican coffee. We will stay at Hotel Tim Bamboo again.

Room Tip: Ask to see the available rooms and choose for yourself. Staff and management are quite accomodating...

Stayed here as a solo female whilst visiting relatives who live in the area. Found the staff friendly and accommodating. Your supposed to pre-book breakfast which I sometimes forgot to do, staff were always prepared to rustle something up for me.

Never had the experience of a hot shower, although the cold water situation was mentioned to staff who looked into it. I'd shower by lathering with soap and tentatively step into the cold shower, not sure whether the cold water is usual, but I stayed for 6 nights and didn't have a hot water experience. This did not overshadow m overall experience though. I mostly felt safe as a lone female traveller. The electricity went off during one nights stay, but this was in the whole of the town and was not exclusive to the hotel. This can sometimes occur in the town.
I found the bed firm, but comfortable, the room was very clean, no fridge. I'm not sure if some of rooms have fridges, which would be useful to keep water and other drinks chilled when bought.

There's a short walk( 1.5 approx) maybe less to any local amenities and in fact the walk s pretty nice. Just be careful of the sometimes racing cars and roaming goats on the way as the side walk is hit and miss.

I also learned that local people sometimes stay at this hotel which is a good recommendation in itself. I would stay here again!!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are preferable. There was no view to speak of. Not certain which way my room was faci...

On the one hand, we felt the value of the room was greater here, given that the room was modern, clean, and had hot water (compared other guesthouses and hotels in Jamaica, where we spent more money for much more basic rooms with either cold showers only or no running water/showers). The room price also came with breakfast, unlike the other places we stayed in Jamaica.

However, for the 2 nights we stayed there, the breakfast wasn't worth it. If you wanted breakfast, you had to order it the night before; we ordered straight off the menu and both times it was wrong he next day. This was annoying too because we don't eat meat and had ordered a callaloo (like spinach) and cheese omelet, but received a ham and cheese omelet. The next day we tried ordering the vegetable omelet instead, but received only a pile of vegetables and no omelet or egg!

Breakfast was served in the hotel bar area, and the only waiter was the bartender. Getting him to even acknowledge our presence, or that of other hotel guests who were also waiting for their breakfast at the other tables, was impossible.

Because of the bad service at breakfast and because we wanted to stay in a room with more character/charm, we stayed only 2 nights at Hotel Timbambo, instead of the original 4 nights we initially reserved, and relocated to a nice guesthouse on Titchfield Hill Peninsula in Port Antonio. Fortunately, we had paid in advance for only 2 nights at Hotel Timbamboo, so it was easy to checkout early.
