If you’re looking for the peace, beauty, safety and serenity of the “real” Jamaica (rather than the cloistered all-inclusive resorts) Pimento Lodge is for you. No begging in the community, there were only friendly greetings throughout the town as I went out on my daily 5 mile run… alone, as a woman. It’s a wonderful place to relax, workout, sightsee, and discover on your own [no package tours necessary…but they are available]
Aside from the community’s benefits, Lloyd and Kate, the owners and managers of this very special accommodation are: warm; skilled at what they do; attentive to every detail; talented chefs who prepare delicious prefix HEALTHY meals [very limited traditional Jamaican frying and loads of tropical vegetables, fruits, and local fish]; and designers and builders of a lovely, small scale get-a way site that allows for both privacy and/or socializing. This is a DO NOT MISS destination if you want an opportunity to really see Jamaica at its best.
Not to be forgotten, the greater Portland Parish community is considering sponsorship of a few sporting events, perhaps something akin to Treasure Beach’s well known Triathlon. The tropical northeast of the island would be a special contrast to the arid setting in the country’s southwest corner; it would be worth attending both events just to see the variety of the island.
We’re going back, if only to re-visit the Pimento Lodge…hope to see you there too.

Room Tip: Each room I saw was lovely: clean; private; very comfortable; and with a view of the Caribbean Sea.

Pimento Lodge is located in Long Bay Jamaica (Northeast coast) is the perfect spot for those travelers seeking seclusion and relaxation in a small fishing village that is untouched by MASS TOURISM.

Pimento Lodge is a Bed and Breakfast NOT an ALL INCLUSIVE resort.

The rooms are very large, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom very large and modern.

Patricia, the housekeeper cleans the rooms every other day to perfection.
If I needed another towel, coffee or anything I asked and Kate or Lloyd provided me with my request.

The rate for an air conditioned suite is SO WORTH IT. To my knowledge there are no other rooms, villas or resorts in Long Bay that provide air conditioning or are 5 star rated.

My husband and I are planning to return for Christmas and New Years 2014.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms with balconies have the best views.

I discovered this enchanting place on TripAdvisor after we had already booked all of our other accomodations in Jamaica. However I couldn't resist staying there at least for one night and so we actually extended our stay by a day just to sqeeze it in. I was so happy to have made this choice! The property is incredibly beautiful, up on the hillside above Long Bay. The gardens were so well tended and the landscaping and the architecture was exquisite. We could really tell that the lovley owners put their heart and soul into this place. The rooms are comfortable and extremely clean with delicate decor.

I regards to Long Bay, it is a beautiful beach but it seems like the last hurricane wiped out several businesses, including some of the more popular beach restaurants/bars/hangouts. Perhaps given some time they will rebuild. In the meantime, the hosts can arrange meals and I can't think of a nicer setting than by the fantastic pool where you can sit and marvel at the construction of the lodge with its multi-levels built right into the hillside or enjoy the rainforest vistas below!

We arrived at dusk after 6 hours of sightseeing and driving from Negril and were greeted by Lloyd. He helped us to our room and settled us in. We then met Kate, Lloyd's wife. We hadn't purchased the meal plan, thinking we would be close to options for food. This resort getaway is nestled in a magnificent but isolated hillside locale overlooking Long Bay. We were starving and mentioned to Lloyd and Kate if they could offer us something, even just a toasted sandwich. Well, that's when our "Blissful" experience began. Kate, Lloyd's wonderful wife and he cooked us the most amazing 3 course dinner, served poolside alfresco in the balmy Jamaican evening. We experienced attention more thorough and friendly than any 5 Star restaurant we have dined at and a truly "family style" atmosphere from that moment onward. Nothing was too much for either of these wonderful hosts from our first night to our last.

We woke the next morning to a magnificent view of the beach and tropical gardens. Our room was amazing, very large and more like a studio apartment, immaculate in presentation and the bed comfort and linen quality was sublime. We arranged with Lloyd and Kate upon arrival to have a meal plan consisting of breakfast and dinner each day, a brilliant decision. Each day started with a three course breakfast, lovingly prepared by Kate and Lloyd. We were treated with love and respect all the time and the experience of being around these two amazing people to start our day and end our day at dinner was as much a part of the "bliss" as the entire local experience.

We could write about how magnificent the food was, about how amazing the coffee was, about how the conversation at every meal with Kate and Lloyd as our hosts was stimulating, informative and nurturing but that would only be a very small part of the big picture.

Truly, words can't express what a remarkable experience meeting Lloyd and Kate was. The amazing marriage and partnership they have and the remarkable vision they had to create this getaway resort destination "Pimento Lodge".

Our additional thanks must go to Patricia, a beautiful girl born and raised in Long Bay. She lovingly kept our room in an immaculate fashion, complete with turn down service, fresh flowers and flowers buds on our pillows each night, heaven!!

Really what we would like to say to everyone who wants to visit Jamaica is, do yourself a favor and stay at Pimento Lodge, the experience will enrich you beyond your wildest dreams.

With love and gratitude,
Joanne and Kelvin

Pimento Lodge is a new hotel in a cliff setting overlooking Long Bay, just about a half hour drive northeast from Port Antonio. Long Bay is a very long white sand beach that has surf and very few tourists, with lovely scenery and people. A short drive away is the birthplace of Jerk Chicken, Boston Bay. Lloyd and Kathleen built the lodge which has eight different kinds of accomodations, with ac, cable tv, ceiling fan, wifi, a porch and a refrigerator. The place is immaculately clean and beautifully designed. The bed was very comfortable. We had privacy and quiet with the feeling of being hosted by close family. Our room was the cheapest and furthest away from the pool--which has a lovely overview of the sea and landscape from its terrace. Again the pool is kept very clean and what I liked as I have to avoid the sun, is that it is shaded from the afternoon sun. As others have said, the landscaping and walks are lovely. The only drawback is that there are many steps to climb to your room, so this is not a place for people who have problems walking. Lloyd showed me some of his other rooms, and the next time I stay I think it would be great to be in the end room above the pool which has a great porch with a view of the sea and a king size bed and eating area. This would be great for honeymooners. Nearby in Port Antonio we took trips to Frenchman's Cove which has one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Lloyd and Kathleen can cook your meals if you ask in advance. The prices for the cooking are a little high, but the food and company are great. The room prices are a great value for the quality of the accommodations. The longer you stay, the more at home you feel--we didn't want to leave.

Our stay in Pimento Lodge was just perfect. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by Lloyd, who showed us our room, and gave us a tour of the property. The four two-storey buildings all have a view of the sea, and look out over the lush gardens that make up most of the property. At the end of the site is the pool, bar, and seating area for breakfast/dinner.

Lloyd and Kate who run Pimento Lodge are the warmest, most welcoming couple, they really look after you like you're family instead of just another guest. We've spent many times just sitting around after breakfast or dinner, chatting about Jamaica and all things in life. The meals they serve on request are honest home cooked food from fresh and local ingredients, there is no menu, but you can let them know if there are certain things you really don't like, and they'll make sure you're catered for. We absolutely loved all the breakfasts and dinners we had!

There are not a lot of eating options in Long Bay, just a few cook shops along the beach, for actual restaurants you'll need to head direction Port Antonio. But then again, why would you need a restaurant if you can have your home cooked dinner right where you're staying?

The rooms are all spacious and immaculately clean, the beds are huge and very comfortable, and come with a mosquito net. Our Superior room had a floor standing fan and ceiling fan, and air conditioning too, but we only ever had the ceiling fan going at night, as the sea breeze kept the room at a perfect sleeping temperature. All blinds and windows have mosquito netting on them, so you can safely keep the room ventilated without being bothered by insects. The rooms have both USA 110V and UK 220V electricity sockets, which i thought was a really thoughtful addition.

We absolutely loved our four night stay at Pimento Lodge, and will most definitely come back.

Lloyd and Kate are such a lovely couple, and i wish them many more successful years running this fantastic property.

Room Tip: Get the superior room if you can afford it, they're nice and spacious!

We love Jamaica and have been many times but never to the northeast coast. The reviews, location, and price really sealed it for us to stay at Pimento. It didn't disappoint at all, Lloyd was a fantastic host who was attentive and helpful. We stayed in a Superior room which was perfect, it had a great view, nice balcony, tables and chairs, and a small fridge. The grounds are beautiful. We had Lloyd make us breakfast each morning and was great, he is a good cook and uses lots of fresh ingredients. Other reviewers are correct, there are not a lot of options for eating in Long Bay, basically one or two cook shops. We had breakfast at the lodge, then lunch where ever we were, and dinner in Port Antonio or San San area. So plan accordingly.....a car is a must if you want to move around! Long Bay is a place to experience real Jamaica, and Pimento is a great place to stay while doing so.

Room Tip: Superior room if you are a couple.....great value!
