Stayed for one night over the weekend and was delighted to be given a complimentary upgrade upon check-in. The property has been there for years but was recently given a complete make-over by the owners...the result is an airy, relaxed, chic vibe. The villa itself was well appointed, complete with apple tv, ipod dock, a huge 2 person rain shower, outdoor bath, walk in wardrobe, etc. The bedrooms are beautiful and spacious with all white decor and minimalist design. The mini cinema is a wonderful idea and staff are happy to reserve it for you for a private movie showing. Mike's Supper Club provides a great evening's jazz in a cool space with lovely jamaican and japanese food options. The only issue that arose during our stay was the service at dinner/breakfast. The dining room was very busy the night we eat there with almost every table full and a group in having drinks also, but I felt the service could have been more timely. A few more waiters would easily have solved this issue. As I said, it's very relaxed and we were in no rush, so personally this did not present a major problem, however I could envisage this being an issue for others who do not want to take a lot of time over meals and are used to speedy service. I must add that the servers were very accommodating and had no problem facilitating specific requests.

All in all 9/10 and a super cool spot in Jamaica.

Spent a week in Trident Castle and hotel, including a wedding on saturday and had a really good time. The staff was perfect, and especially Shevanise did a great job with planning the wedding and the whole week for us norwegians. "Perfection" is the best word to describe it.

My husband treated me to a day at The Trident for my birthday and to say it was my best birthday ever would be an understatement. It was my absolutely best birthday to date! The team at The Trident handled my day with effortless aplomb. Rose-Marie (reservations), Floyd (front desk), Candy (spa), Tyrone (restaurant), Byron (bar),Sheeka (billing) and Vinroy (our personal photographer and tour guide for the day), were all awesome staff members that added special touches to our day. The very moment we stepped onto the property we felt like royalty. The property was fantastic! Every piece of furniture gawked elegance and seemed to be hand-picked for the area in which it was displayed. The entire property oozed classic chic, sophistication and modernity. The hotel has an intimate feel to it which implies that it is the perfect getaway for anyone who wishes to bask in the beauty of nature with a touch of contemporary style. We have vacationed in several hotels (local & overseas) but these so called “high-end” properties pale significantly in comparison to The Trident. Extremely highly recommended, The Trident is a must-do for your next vacation.

The Trident Hotel in Port Antonio, Jamaica offered us everything we were looking for in our week long Caribbean honeymoon. The resort is quiet and peaceful, but still welcoming and friendly. The large room was ultra modern, sleek and very spacious offering an indoor and outdoor shower, over-sized bathtub, walk-in closet, large bedroom and living area. Outside we had our own private pool with walled landscaped yard. The man-made resort beach was right next to our room, it’s sheltered, the water is warm and during the day there is a member of staff on hand to make sure you have a fresh towel, snorkeling gear or whatever else you might need to enjoy the beach. We couldn’t have hoped for a more pleasant place to stay.

The staff were also genuinely friendly, almost all of them knew our names from reception, barmen and restaurant through to drivers. They wanted to make sure we enjoyed being in Jamaica as a whole, not just our time in the resort. We spent a few evenings and lunches eating out at the locals favorite Anna Banana’s as well as a taste of authentic Jamaica at Boston Market and Beach for barbeque jerk chicken, pork sausage and a bottle of Red Stripe. We also sampled burgers Jamaican style at Woody’s and a local organic meal at Mille Fleurs. The hotel staff and drivers were more than accommodating suggesting places to eat, telling us about the local area and when needed the drivers would chaperone us round grocery stores and the market. The food at the resort was excellent too, the menu is small and safe with a Jamaican twist, we must have tried nearly everything on it by the end of the week! Portion sizes should be large enough to satisfy almost all American appetites ;-) The bar menu offered plenty of choices, we particularly enjoyed the mango cocktail with Scotch bonnet pepper.

During our stay we each had very relaxing hour long massage at the spa. It’s in a separate building away from the rest of the resort, but still only a few minutes walk from our room. It’s very private and you can have your massage with the doors open to a balcony facing the sea with the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks below, no need for ambient music playing in the background!

Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Trident Hotel, it provided the perfect backdrop to our romantic honeymoon.
