We recently spent 3 weeks in Zion Country. Since we were the only guests for most of that time, we had a chance to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, watch humming birds and lizards, snorkel in the bay, listen to frog and lizard concerts in the evenings. Free-I and Owen were very helpful with information for various trips. We visited Reach Falls with local guide René, who was very attentive, carried our backpack and camera, took photographs when we jumped into rockpools. Very enjoyable! Diving with Lady G in port Antonio was fantastic. We almost always ate at Zion, because we really enjoyed Owen's cooking. He cooks local food, Ackee and breadfruit and plantain and other things and everything tastes lovely. The cabins were basic but comfortable with a balcony to relax on and the cold showers were refreshing. So if you want to be close to nature and local people in the nicest bit of nature on the island and not too close to mainstream tourism and animations we would strongly advise you to come here. The only little things we were not so happy with was the breakfast, which was a bit simple (toast and marmalade, sometimes an egg, but always some fruit) and the fact that there was no electric socket in the cabin. Just light and a fan, so you couldn't make a cup of tea or charge your phone without going up to the main area. We could understand Free-I's reason for that though. He wants to preserve the peaceful atmosphere and doesn't want people to start playing loud music or sit at their computer all day. We would certainly go and spend another holiday there.

We met Free I earlier on our trip in Negril (West-Jamaica). He invited us on his guesthouse when we past the east of the Island. So we did.
We expected the same average guesthouse as we have experienced in the west and the south. But believe me, we where all pleasand surprised on our arrivel in Zion Country. When we saw the ocean view, the beautifull garden, the rooms... we where totally relaxed.
We where with a group of six. Only one beach cabin was free. 2 guys slept there en 4 of us in a room on the street side. One of us slept on a matras on the ground. Thats why I just give it an "very good" quote ;) Never the less, we didn't complain 'cause after all, we where a "big" group and they found a solution to sleep over.
The helping hands Owen en Tamar are very friendly. They made one of the best breakfasts of our roadtrip!
TIP: if you like adventure, ask to go fishing on baracuda's with the local fisherman. They will arange it. If you got lucky, like we did, Owen will prepare your fish on a very tasty way!
TIP: if you like to visit the reach falls, ask information there to go with a local guide (Renée). you will see a much more beatifull side of the falls.

Conclusion: when you are on a roadtrip, it's the best deal in the east!

Good luck!

This is paradise without any luxery. No wifi, no warm water, . Zion country offers everything you needed . the hospitality is wonderful. Fre I has a lot of knowledge for sightseeing. Even with a local guide my daughter Milou 21 years jumped of the reach falls. what an experience was that.
The food is delicious and every morning at 9.00 am (except for the weekends) the bell is ringing for breakfast.
Swimming in the sea is possible, with watershoes is more comfortable and take your snorkeling gear. There is a little private beach. the cabins are nice and clean. looking at all the stars from your porch is also a wonderful experience.Marita S.v.W. , the Netherlands

Room Tip: rooms without private bathroom are on seaside. You have to walk a steep staircase to reach the restro...

Showed up here without a booking (not recommended) and luckily they managed to fit us in. Such a beautiful spot in a beautiful part of Jamaica. The staff were all lovely and it was easy to get to nearby beaches and attractions via route taxis for a small cost.
If you stay here, definitely sign up for dinner - the food is amazing!!!

We stayed at the Zion Beach Cabins for 3 nights. We were looking to stay "off the beaten path" and experience the remote Jamaica. We had a great time at Zion! The views from our cabin were AMAZING and the gardens and property were absolutely beautiful. We definitely got to experience untouched Jamaica here, including the friendliness of the local community. Free-I is a simple yet accommodating host. He drove us to the beach and to the nearby Reach Falls, free of charge. He is not overly friendly yet I got the feeling that he genuinely cares about the safety and pleasure of his guests. This is a great value place to stay for those looking for a remote, simple getaway- nothing fancy, no frills whatsoever. Staying here was very much like camping! There are open area showers, no hot water, no towels or soap provided. Also, there is no WiFii on the property, contrary to what we had read on their website.

We would definitely stay here again if we were to go back to Portland! Great overall experience.

Me an d my friends stayed in Zion Country for 14 nights! For us this place is paradise... you can visit every day another beach, nearly without tourists!!! The cabins and the hole property is clean and you have a nice view to the sea. You can visit the community, they'll like it if guests from zion country are interested also in how rhey life...
Owen is a good cook, you can ask him or free-i also for a lobster dinner with fresh lobster that brings a fisherman from the community! We had nearly every day dinner at zion country, after eating we always had nice discussions and free-i told us some nice storys about the life in JA. The eastside of jamaica is very beautiful, there aren't the stupid tourists like in negril. It's much more natural and you'll see a part of the real jamaica!

I'll come back for sure!!!!

This is not a hotel! Please read the website before booking, if you can't live without hot water, tv, room service ecc. it's better if you look for an all inclusive resort in negril or ocho rios...

After a short walk truth the jungle you can swim in a beautiful waterfall with water basin. The Village is a small Village but there are a good bus conniption. Owen the kitchen owner is a really good cook. Meat / Fish / Chicken -> What you want you get!

I Hope we come back soon!
