I am so glad on our second trip to FDR we did not encounter any of the snooty people that write the negative reviews. This is our second time at FDR and we brought 6 out of 7 of our children and our 2 granddaughters. We had originally booked a 2 br and a 1 br but were pleasantlysurprised by the upgrade to #24 which is a 3 br 3 ba one level right by the pool and a one bedroom for our oldest daughter and her 2 year old twins. Our group spanned 2, 2, 5, 5, 14, 16, 16 23 and myself and husband. The resort was slow and thats how we like it. God bless Monica and Coretta. Two sets of twins and you never looked anything less than happy. Wehave had Monica as a nanny in the past and treated her like family. Coretta was a new addition and we loved her just as much. Fdr is what it is. Family friendly, spacious, warm, inviting, once your inside, attentive and beautiful. We are planning trip three for November 2013.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom if more than one child and 1 infant in your party

Its that time again. We are on our way to my daughter's favorite place. FDR has been a home away from home for one week every year for the past 17 years. Just being there has always been comforting and totally relaxing. The food is great not to mention the nanny's. The staff is always welcoming and oh so warm and friendly. I wish we had more time but we will definitely make the most of it.

We stayed a week here. The staff was friendly and warm. We had Ruth Ann as our nanny for our 20 month old daughter. She and our daughter got along terrific from the start! Ruth Ann was very patient and kind to our daughter, even when our daughter wasn't cooperative. Ruth Ann had a calm and serene personality. The Yellowbird Kids Club was great, too! There is a computer room with a 2-level play area and toys; then a lounge with child-size chairs; and a toddler room with a ball pit, books, toy cars, rocking horses, more toys, and 4 child beds for the children to nap in. Behind it are 2 outdoor playgrounds. There are activities and recreational areas for older kids, too, though I didn't check these out. The pools were very nice. The have life guards at the pools and beach. The food was good. The unit we had as very accommodating; not real posh, but comfortable. I don't recommend going on the complimentary shopping trip to Ochos Rios - at least don't go to the craft market with your children. The vendors are very pushy. We found that shopping at the airport was more pleasant and, with some things, less expensive. It appears that the staff appreciate tipping as you go. You can't charge a general tip at the end. We gave a couple US dollars for the wait staff at meals, and that much or more for other special requests. We had a wonderful vacation and we cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: There are no elevators. If you don't like stairs, choose a room on the first floor. We really liked our room on the top (3rd) floor, but it had some leaky spots in the ceiling of the guest room and patio when it rained heavy. They asked if we wanted to move, but we stayed since we were already settled and the leaks weren't that bad or in our way.

We recently went to FDR for a couple weeks long vacation. First off, the nannies are incredible. Just incredible with the kids. We had Monica and Chevalene and I highly recommend either... VERY RELIABLE and paid all the attention in the world to the kids.

FOOD - The food is good. not gourmet, but really good. The fish was always excellent. Its mostly Jamaican food, most of the time, so know that going in.

SERVICE - Outstanding. We felt like family there. People knew our names and just wanted us to be happy.

ROOMS - The room was nice. If you are expecting the Ritz, keep looking. We stayed in the 2 bedroom beachfront suite and it was like we were staying in an apartment. LOTS of room. The Nannies kept it all clean.

RESORT - The resort is small. Its not one of those newer humongous resorts. There is a pool, a water slide, boats, and a hot tub. Keep in mind that this is an older resort (They are supposed to be doing rehab on the property soon) so there is a lot of stuff that needs updating. They are working on it, and for us, it didnt detract from the vacation.

OVERALL - The service cant be beat. That is what will have us coming back. If they upgrade the amenities of the resort, it will be a no brainer to stay at... but, if you have kids, dont hesitate. They will have a great time, and you will get a much needed break!

Room Tip: 2 Bedroom suite beachfront is one of the best on the property.

We stayed here in December 2012 for 10 days. Our trip was booked for 7 days but we loved it so much we couldn't leave and stayed for a few extra days.

Our nanny Charlene was absolutely amazing!!! Our daughter called her 'mom' right from the beginning and we always felt comfortable leaving the girls with Charlene. My husband and I and our in-laws actually got a vacation. We had a great 2 bedroom suite that was on a private little stretch of beach complete with hammocks and loungers. We never had a bad meal and the kids loved the food as well. The jerk chicken was amazing. All of the staff were excellent and we can't wait to go back.

If you have young kids this is the place to go. We met amazing people, both staff and guests and we will be returning for sure.
