We have visited this hotel twice, once for a holiday and then because it was so good we chose to get married there. The welcome as in most Caribbean hotels is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious with air conditioning and fans. The food is plentiful and varied and the staff in the dining room are always willing to explain the dishes. The drinks are full strength and not watered down like some hotels. The bar staff will try to provide whatever you want where possible. There are a selection of beach and water activities or you can just lie around on the sun beds. There are always enough. The cleaners come in 6 out of 7 days and are very thorough. The staff are friendly and most helpful. They always have a smile and greeting for you. The entertainment team although maybe not to everyone's taste work tirelessly to ensure that you are enjoying yourself.
Our wedding co-ordinator DAVIAN pulled out all the stops to ensure that our day was perfect.
All in all it is definitely worth a third visit.

Room Tip: The rooms on the beach are great, but to be quite honest if noise bothers you then get a garden room...

The hotel/resort is excellent - staff really helpful and friendly, food is brilliant - loads of it and good quality. Accommodation is fine - its not a five star hotel so some people who were complaining were frankly being unfair! Its a good 3 star quality place for the Caribbean.
Four lovely small bays, loads of sun beds, never a problem finding somewhere to sit. We liked the jetty with its own bar all day and the sea lapping up against the sides!
Pools were great - we liked the quiet pool which was very quiet. The sea wasn't as clear as we expected - a lot of seaweed, but the beaches are cleaned every day and in fantastic nick. Be aware - this part of Jamaica is on the north coast and there is a constant breeze off the sea which is brilliant in that it keeps you cool but misleading in that you think its cooler than it is - easy to get burnt! You must use high factor screen to start with. For those like us used to the Med, you have to remember you are several hundred miles further south and the sun is stronger! Much stronger!
At around 3.30pm the wind gets much stronger in July and you will get wind burn even if you hide from the sun under the sun umbrellas!
Only real concern for us was when we went out of the resort. We went to Ocho Rios twice and both times were hassled fairly strongly to buy things including weed...there is real poverty on the island. The kids working at the resort don't have a lot of options work wise and we reckon from talking to some we got to know, don't get paid very well, so they appreciate even small tips - we gave several $200 Jamaican dollar tips (just over £1) or $2-£3 US dollars - and they were snapped up.
We got to know one lad who was very depressed and fed up - wanted to escape the island to go to the States but can't get a visa....seems there are a lot of frustrated youngsters on the island.
We had two air con failures both sorted quickly by the excellent staff on reception. I needed to run my business from the place and wifi is of dubious quality but just about OK - $5 US dollars an hour from reception. If you're sending large attachments that $5 US dollars goes pretty quickly.
Food wise - brilliant - just pace yourself. After the first two or three days we made a conscious decision to cut back! Three main meals a day is excessive! We moved to lots of fruit and salad and that helped. You need lots of fluid - and that doesn't mean lots of alcohol! Although some clearly thought it did! Drink lots of water - its safe to drink tap water on the island.
Guests were from all over the place - mainly from the States, lot from South America - Brazil, Argentina, Columbia and Ecquador. Some of the US and South Americans were quite rude to the boys and girls who were working at the resort - treated them like servants - understandably they resented that. being friendly and kind -even just saying thank you a lot is appreciated! They're very proud of their independence from the UK (in 1962 as they tell you over and over again) but amazingly most are proud of the Queen as head of state!
Only major negative of the holiday was the transfer back to the airport at the end of the trip. One and a quarter hours around midday in a bus where the air con didn't work....several guests including a couple of older people really struggled - as I did! Thought we might have to stop for a while, but got there absolutely soaked in sweat and knackered - not great for the flight back! Sure it was a blip but not a great farewell to the island.

Room Tip: WE were in 31 for most of te stay which was great for noise - away from the main pool area where the...

We only spent 4 nights here, but we had a wonderful time. The beach is very long and has multiple protected coves for swimming. The water is warm, but not very deep.

The food was good, with lovely fresh fruit in the buffet, which also had attentive table service drinks. The a la carte seafood restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and wonderful service. The Thai restaurant was not open the night we tried to get a reservation, but during the day it is a table service burger joint with reasonable food and excellent views.

The bars we tried all boast a good selection of alcohol (unless you are exclusively a whiskey person), with friendly, efficient service. The beer is Red Stripe, which I found appropriate and very refreshing.

Our "bungalow" was clean and spacious, with lots of room and a walk-in closet. Toiletries are provided, but bring your own if you have temperamental hair.

The ocean conditions prohibited most water sports for the majority of our stay, but we did see them out the last day. Swimming in the coves was always available, although towel service was available only from morning until late afternoon as were the pools.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and there were many lizards on the outside of the bungalows, keeping the insect population down. Sea birds were present in abundance as well.

Room Tip: We had 67 which was garden view, but still very close to the beach and the main pool area.

We got married here early in July midway through our 2 week holiday. We travelled as a party of 9 including 3 teenagers (aged 16,16 and 18), a 10 year old and a 1 year old.
We booked through First Choice. Our arrival at reception was friendly and efficient. We were given our keys and a welcome drink before being shown to our cottages (3 in total).
Firstly the cottages were beautiful. We had numbers 42,43 and 46. They were situated in the middle of the resort so not too loud on an evening but close enough to everything if you needed anything. We didn't book beachfront cottages and I was hesitant as to whether or not to pay the extra, however, the beachfront ones were the row in front of ours so the beach was a mere 10-15 metres from our door. You could hear the sea on a night from the bedroom. The rooms were spacious, relaxing and cleaned every day to a high standard. Yes they could do with some updating decor wise but this certainly didn't spoil our stay, they were clean, comfy and somewhere to put your head down. The maids were really friendly and worked so hard.
The beaches (4 coves) were all immaculate and the water was clear and warm. Some parts were rocky/stony so water shoes are a must if going out further than paddling distance. The pools were clean, the main one being where all the fun/entertainment was located right next to the beach and main bar, and the adult/quiet pool being in the gardens and very peaceful with its own small bar. The only thing I would suggest is that they add a kids pool. There was a shallow end of the main pool but no paddle area for our baby. The lifeguards were always on the ball and were always chatty and great with the kids. Extra peace of mind.
The bars were great. Service was usually with a smile although you could sometimes wait a while at the main bar during busy times. The jetty/swing bar was relaxing on an evening if you wanted a night off from the entertainment. Sun loungers and chairs meant you could sit and watch the stars over the sea whilst sipping a rum cocktail with reggae music playing in the background. Perfect.
Food was great. My husband is a fussy eater and there was always something to please him. Drinks were brought to you by the waiting staff and they were always friendly and didn't seem to mind our 1 year old making a mess whilst trying to master his table manners!
Entertainment...it was brilliant. Colours, Birdman, Vanilla, Empress and Freestyle. The team worked so hard from morning to night, great with young and old alike and always stopped for a chat. They all took a shine to our baby and he loved being with them on stage. Their dancing was amazing, not the usual cheesy moves you usually see on holiday but really professional dancing. They did try to get people to participate in stage games etc but if this isnt your thing then they didn't pressure you.
Our wedding day was perfect. Make up, hair, nails, flowers , champagne, cake, etc were all organised correctly by Annaline after a very detailed meeting with her on our first day. We chose to marry at 3 so we didn't have such a gap between reception and evening meal celebration. You have your choice of beach, jetty gazebo or garden gazebo venue. We chose the garden as it was mess windy although we had pictures on the beach afterwards. The garden area next to the gazebo was made up beautifully for our champagne reception. Our evening celebration was in whichever a la carte restaurant is on that evening as they alternate nights. Ours was Thai.
All in all our stay was amazing.
We booked our trips ourselves with the taxi drivers outside the hotel. We saved a fortune and they were great. Just haggle a price for the taxi and venue before you leave and you won't be disappointed. If in doubt, ask for Murphy. He took us to 9 mile and to Dunns River. He told us all about the scenery on the way to 9 mile and asked us if we wanted to stop off in one of the local villages on the way back. It was a great experience and we wouldn't have got this if we'd booked through the tour operator.
Everyone from the gardening staff to the bar staff to the receptionists and entertainment team worked hard. Remember the gardeners may appreciate the odd drink from the bar. It's thirsty work keeping those gardens immaculate in temperatures in the high 30's. Tips weren't expected but we did tip those that made our stay extra perfect.
Those that complain about this hotel need to remember they're in Jamaica. If you want 5 star rooms then book a 5 star hotel. However if you want an exceptional stay in private villa type rooms whilst enjoying the all inclusive perks of a hotel along with getting a vibe of the real Jamaican culture then please book this hotel. We are planning on returning ASAP and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Many of the people were spoke to during our stay were on their 3rd or more visit. That says it all really.

Just got back from our holiday at this hotel , and had a fantastic time. It is only 3 star so is not posh or snobby and is very laid back and the most friendly place and people I have ever experienced . All the staff are lovely and the entertainment crew go out of their way to help you have fun at all times nothing is to much trouble for them and they are in fact amazing.!! The life guards need a special mention too a lovely. Bunch of men. Now if you like a huge pool you will be disappointed but the sea is here although at times a little rough with a red flag needed at times and very windy while we were there. But still got a great tan but this time of year humidity is high so beware. All the rooms are single buildings in the grounds and a lot with sea views very pretty but will cost a bit more that is if you can manage to get one. Now we were on the right of the reception if you face the sea and at weekends it can be very noisy as there are festivals that take place outside the complex that are very noisy and the really really loud music plays all night and day for 2 days so if you are not a good sleeper take this in mind .the main draw back was the noise at night. It the other side didn't seem to get these problems . We will be going back to this hotel and would recommend it and would pack lighter next time as you only need shorts and t shirts at night it is not a over dressy place if you don't want to. A good tip.!!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the right side facing the beach are very noisy at certain times especially weekends.

We choose this hotel specifically for the beach bungalow, and we were left in no doubt that we made the right choice despite some unfavourable reviews on here. We are a well travelled couple in our 40s and this review is based on our own preferences.

Check In -
Quick, efficient and friendly, off the coach and to our beach bungalow within 15 minutes.

Beach Bungalow -
What a stunning room. Room 18 is perfectly situated at the quiet end of the property, in one of the 4 coves, just 5 steps from the Caribbean Sea, with an adjoining deck area hidden away from everybody else looking out over the water. The inside is basic, but has an extremely comfortable bed, a walk in wardrobe space, separate bathroom with bath and shower good water pressure and temperature), Huge modern flat screan tv, excellent air con, and working fridge with water.

Food -
Always something new to try at the buffet, even though not loads of options, there was still several different meals available at every sitting. Really enjoyed the traditional Jamaican dishes. We also tried the Thai restaurant, which was table service, this was a nice change to the buffet and the food did not disappoint at all. The Thai is also open during the day as a snack restaurant serving burgers, hot dogs, pizza etc. oh yeah, NO dress code other than standard no topless and no swim wear in restaurants.

Bars -
Several bars scattered about the property serving Red Stripe lager and an array of cocktails and spirits, Cocktails were just ok, and some of the unbranded spirits weren't great. But plenty of good brands on offer and the lager was always cold. Bar staff on the whole very good and service was speedy enough even at the busiest times. Pool bar was busy in the evenings as it was by the stage, but for a more leisurely drink then the jetty bar with the swing seats was never overly busy and had the reggae vibe going on from morning to night.

Pools -
Main pool was busy with kids and entertainment crew during the day so can't really comment as we stayed in the quieter areas, there is also an adults only pool.

Beach -
Four coves with varying degrees of sand quality, all the coves had shallow water, and temperature of sea in July was plenty warm enough for anybody. beach shoes came in handy as some of the coves had rocky sections. Always lots of free sun beds at all times of day. and each cove was swept and looked after daily by the beach attendants.

Staff -
Staff always polite and friendly, whether gardeners, management, life guards or whoever, if they were only looking for a tip then it wasn't apparent to me and the laid back but efficient attitude of the staff did result in a few dollars going their way. I did get offered something to "smoke" by a couple of members of staff in the early days, but it was done in a very non threatening way and a polite "No Thanks" was more than adequate.

Entertainment -
excellent nightly shows. Every night was "showtime". A mix of dance acts and singers were of a decent quality, and all brought together by the fantastic entertainment crew. We didn't see much of the guys during the day as we stayed away from the busy pool, At night they were always to be seen chatting to guests without being overbearing and pushy, And they were a sight to behold when they got on the dance floor. They really did seem to be having a great time.

To sum up, The Royal Decameron Club Caribbean can be as chilled or as exciting as you want it to be, beautiful location and lots to do for everyone that isn't happy just chilling out listening to a bit of Bob Marley on the beach. We will definitely return to this hotel at some point even though we still have many places yet to try.

Room Tip: The beach bungalows are amazing, 17, 18, 19, and 20 walked directly onto the beach.

The Club Caribbean is a very nice place to stay. The staff is great and the entertainment group is amazing. We really had a great time there. The food was plentiful and delicious and something was always available. Our room was large and very clean and well maintained. My complaints are minimal yet noteworthy. Our shower was very tough to regulate and the hot water knob got too hot to touch. There was no coffee pot in the room, inconvenient but not a deal breaker. The resort didn't offer free wifi. You could purchase by the hour for reasonable cost, but the kicker here was that you had to use it only in the lobby. Lastly, the swimming pools were only available until 5 pm. All in all I would definitely go back.
