We stayed at the Casablanca hotel on both sides of our cruise vacation. The staff excelled in customer service. Arriving late into the evening made no difference, when was the last time management came out to welcome you. That was only the beginning. The restaurant located in the hotel had just closed for the evening but stayed open to serve us. The hotel staff service exceeded that of most large chain hotels. Personal, friendly is only a small part.
We were aware that the hotel had no elevator however that was not a problem. The staff was there to help. The room was comfortable and fit the hotel theme. Don’t expect lavish appointments.
Hotel location was excellent. In the middle of all the action in Old San Juan. Within walking distance of the cruise ship terminal and mostly downhill. Unfortunately the street that the hotel is located on is under construction and is blocked. Somehow this was not a problem and it made for some great pictures of the street without being clogged by cars.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Casablanca hotel and have no problem recommending it. Too bad some of the big chain hotels can’t run their hotels the same way.
Thanks Casablanca Hotel, you’re everything we expected…and so much more!!

We spent two nights here and the stay was very enjoyable. The building is very old and built in the old Spanish style like everything in Old San Juan. The rooms are small but nice and accommodate two people just fine. The motif has a Moroccan flair with heavy influence from the movie Casablanca. Great location in the city with plenty of shops and cafes only minutes away. Actually, everything in Old San Juan is within reasonable walking distance of this hotel. There is a good cafe on the first floor adjacent the lobby and a good restaurant, Mondito's, just a couple doors down. If you are driving, this hotel may be a bit difficult to get to due to the tiny one-way streets, construction, and lack of parking. The staff was very friendly and helpful with advice for getting around the island, recommendations, and setting up car services. I would stay here again.

We stayed here on the recommendation of a local. It is evident that the staff take pride in the hotel and it was very well located
would recommend it, but a few things to know before you go-no parking at the hotel (as expected in this historic area), no elevator.road construction made it impossible to even get close to uload luggage-check before you commit, no pool-but some bathtubs on roof...
there is a nice small inhouse spot for breakfast, sadly the gasline broke down and we had a fortuitous good breakfast at a place they recommended as a backup

Room Tip: as mentioned above, no elevator...

My boyfriend and I stayed here in a balcony room for our last night in Puerto Rico. What a perfect place it was! Our room wasn't huge but the balcony and high ceilings made it feel very comfortable and open. The stone tubs on the roof (that are available for guests to use whenever they want) were a great way for us to unwind after a long day.
The staff at the hotel were super friendly and this sounds weird but the place smells AMAZING! The staff allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel for awhile after we checked out because we still wanted to wander around a bit. I would definitely recommend this place- super cute.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a balcony.

Lovely boutique stay hotel.
Beautiful Moroccan style decor.
Friendly helpful staff.
Excellent location -- in the heart of Old San Juan, just walk out the door and it's all there, restaurants, entertainment, live music, shopping.
Great value.

We enjoyed the location of this hotel, right in the center of Old San Juan. Old San Juan was beautiful. We enjoyed being in walking distance to great restaurants and sightseeing sights. We spent 5 nights at this hotel. It was lovely. The room was a little small for us, the bathroom was also small.

The hotel was a bit old. We went during high season (around January of 2014) when it was winter time in Philly, therefore it was quite pricey for us, but comparably good value for the area. The hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful.

Old San Juan were beautiful, the beach, the water really nice. We loved the beautiful blue Carribean sky. We would definitely come back to San Juan and Casablanca hotel if the price is a bit lower for us.

Honestly, this place is just simply great. We walked in with a fairly strange situation - we have a tandem bicycle that we needed to break down and pack up. And it was raining. Well, Miguel brought us in, set us up, took care of us...talk about above and beyond service. And the woman the next morning (so sorry I didn't get her name) was just as helpful with our luggage, taxi and boarding passes.

The hotel looks as good as the professional web photos (how often can you say that?) and they appear to be making constant improvements. I hate to be redundant, but character, charm, lovely - all great words to describe the place.

Comfy and efficient rooms. Nice mattress, linens and shower amenities. Nothing elaborate, but we didn't ride our bike around Puerto Rico for the hotel rooms anyway!

Central location but not noisy at all.

Really a gem.
