Yes, it's a gate... What else is there to say? The walk to the gate is better than the gate itself. Worth a look if you are walking between all the sites.

The area around here with the water is nice, and should be on the list of things to include on your walk in the old town.

Enjoyed visiting the gate on our last day where we only had a few hours before departing. Lots of good shopping in the area.

It was interesting to walk around the old wall originally built to keep out unsavory characters and see the only remaining 'gate' left.

This stop is steeped in history as much of Old San Juan is, and you can reach it by either walking through the park and on a path by the water which is very flat or by walking up through the city and down a tree lined cobble stone road. The path by the water is much easier, and makes it harder to miss. The gate is scenic but won't take much time to see, there are some interesting trees near it with dangling roots coming down from them. If you are lucky you may see a ship go by.
