“Horse guided tours at the Palomino Island”

This was a beautiful hotel which gives you access to Palomino Island. At the Palomino Island they had horse rides which was the best! I was able to go with my 10 year old daughter and she loved it. The horse tours cost $69 per person and they take you in a 50 minute trail all around Palomino Island. The tour guides were very, very nice! I had a great time there!

This resort is very much improved since it was bought by the Waldorf Astoria group. The ferry to and from the island was smooth. The island, while not deserted, can handle the crowds. Be sure to go during the week as opposed to the weekend for greater enjoyment if crowds bother you. All beaches/offshore islands in Puerto Rico are public beaches so there are people who dock their boats offshore and swim in the ocean near you. Use of the facilities is for resort guests only. There are activities for the kids and adults both on land and on sea. It was a great family outing. Bring water or money to buy drinks, because it gets HOT. We ate at the Iguanas Outdoor Cafe and it was pretty good for resort food/prices. The kids enjoyed feeding the very tame iguanas that are adjacent to the cafe.

“Over crowded, Not private”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

El Conquistador touts about how this is a private island. It's not. It seems about only half of it is. They allow people to pull their boats up and moor very close to the beach and blare their awful music. It totally ruined the beach ambiance for us since we couldn't even hear the waves. Also a TON of people in general. People don't bother to deposit their towels and trash in the appropriate places when they leave so you never know if you are stealing someone's beach chair or if they have left for the day. We never had a waiter come by our chairs to see if we wanted drinks or anything. I did spot them in the distance though, so I know they existed. The swim area is too small and we never saw a spot for snorkeling.

“enjoyed in the beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014

This is a private Island maintained by the management of LAS CASITAS_ VILLAGE(Fajardo) where we had our reserved accommodation. The small beach has scenic view and places marked for swimming and bath. The guests are given bath towels and Ocean side resting couches are plenty where one can relax. This place has change and rest rooms.it has few food courts too. I disliked the high pitch music and announcements soliciting guests played by one of these food courts on the beach and noise pollution need to be looked into and stopped to enjoy . which

“Private Island for El Conquistador”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Once upon a time this was the Wyndham El Conquistador, but it has been a Hilton/Waldorf property for several years now.

The beaches are well maintained; the beach chairs are comfy and widely available and the cafe (Iguana's) is surprisingly good.

I have been on three private islands
1. Disney - AWESOME
2. Norwegian Cruise Line - Made me question the whole concept
3. Palomino - Restored my faith that a non-Disney private island could be worthwhile

Two of our 4 family members are not beach fans - but even they had a good time on Palomino Island.
