My Husband and I stayed at the Marriott for three nights be for we moved on to another hotel in Dorado beach.

After a long journey from England we arrived quite late in the evening so we went straight for a snack and drink at the bar, the waitress service was quick and good, the beer and white wine was ice cold and the fish Tacos tasty and absolutely delicious.

The beds were extremely comfortable and we had three great nights sleep, we heard no noise from guest once we were in bed, The upstairs of the hotel is very quiet compared to the downstairs Casino and bar areas.

We didn't have breakfast included in our stay so we purchases breakfast from a little coffee counter just inside the Hotel lobby, they sold yoghurt, pastries, fruit etc

The Hotels Location is right on the beach and we were grateful that there was security staff on the hotel steps stopping none residence using the hotel as a walk through.
Along the beach is a mix of graffiti and boarded up hotels mixed in with renovated ones.

The Staff at the hotel are really friendly and helpful, We had good service and no problems with check in or check out.

At the front of the hotel are many restaurants, and I can recommend a Turkish restaurant called Ali Baba right opposite the Marriott. Other than the Fish Tacos that we had at the Marriott and the great meal we had in Alai Babas, we found the food in Puerto Rico a little bland and non description.

The Hotel pool has a swim up bar and although it's not terribly deep was deep enough for swimming, however the majority of people used it to congregate and enjoying a leisurely drink. (including me).

The town has a mix of shops Louis Vuitton, etc down to cheap and tacky ones. And we felt a little bit vulnerable although police presents are abundance and on every street corner.

The only negative thing I would say about the hotel is the lack of clarity over Happy Hour .
I'm not sure if this is the norm, but not all drinks are included in happy hour, Only Bacardi rum and corona beer are included and we didn't know until after receiving our drinks. We mention this on check out and they kindly refunded the difference.

We had a great stay and would recommend this hotel.

So, if you love the ocean and laying on the beach, this hotel has a beautiful spot for you, but the rooms are very small and expensive! Don 't forget the extravagant resort fee added onto your bill, as well. We did not have a great experience right from checkin. We ended up in a adouble bed room for the instead of the king we reserved. The balcony door was smeared with hand prints from what looked like sunscreen. We waited a day or two to give housekeeper a chance to clean, which we ended up cleaning ourselves. We did complain and someone showed up12 hours later to clean it.We found about half of the staff to be pleasant and the others almost like they could care less about the guests. There are plenty of hotels in the area that deserve your hard earned vacation money more! As a trip advisory member, I would not recommend this hotel!!

Room Tip: Although we do not recommend this hotel, a high floor either ocean or partial view is best. The other...

We recently returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel. I am Marriott Rewards Lifetime Platinum member (946 nights) so I have had a lot of experience with Marriott properties. This hotel overall lived up to the previous reviews. The property itself was nice (considering its age), our room had been recently upgraded and it is right on the beach which is nice. They provide free beach chairs and umbrellas which is a nice touch - although you do pay a 16% resort fee which I'm sure goes towards that perk. They also have a nice concierge lounge. The staff at this hotel is well-trained (other than in the restaurant-see below) and they could not have been more friendly and eager to please. My only negative at this property is what they charge for their food and beverage. I understand paying more at the beachside bar and restaurant and the food and drinks were very good there. But in the lobby bar, $8 for a domestic beer and $7 for a local beer? We don't pay that in Hawaii. It rained one evening so we decided to stay in and eat at the Marriott Restaurant - La Vista. This was a huge disappointment. Clearly the staff was not trained properly and it was way overpriced. It took forever for a server to come by and tell us they had a buffet. Considering the time it took for her to stop by we decided to just eat the buffet and while the food was ok, it was certainly not worth the $75 price tag we paid. The couple next to us did their entire dinner at the buffet without ever even meeting the server (they just went up on their own and the busser brought water). We were there for probably 2 hours to eat a buffet! I would recommend this hotel if you are traveling to San Juan, but I suggest you eat at one of the many close by restaurants which are much better and a much better value.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a renovated room since this is an older property.

I have been to the majority of Caribbean hotel / casinos and found this one to live up to its claims. I would stay there again if in town.

The Pluses:
Great Location, decent pool and nice lobby bar
One of the better island casinos. Large enough, most table games, free drinks to players (works better at night, limited cocktail service in earlier day)
The minuses:
$16 a day to park your car in their garage. Cleaning service 1 per day (they basically make the bed) if you call and request a second cleaning (turn down) they wont come in my experience. hotel as of 11/2013 is undergoing a remodel, so lobby is covered in plastic construction tarp. Main building is a bit dated

Room Tip: As for the garden / other building (highest floor possible). Try not to stay in a low floor main tow...

Stayed here for only one night in October 2013. Small room was attractive, clean & functional, but small. Beach is lovely here, as is the immaculate pool area. We stayed here the night before a cruise and didn't really take advantage of all the resort had to offer, but what we did enjoy was very pricey - $20 for a round of 2 domestic beers, simple room service (sandwiches & soda) for $65, you get the idea. We had a group rate of $150 per night which was reasonable compared to comparable resorts in the area, but with bar tab, resort fees and the 1 room service order, our final total was $325. Crazy. Also please note that there are many boarded-up businesses in the area, which doesn't speak well for the local economy and makes a newbie visitor like me feel a little uneasy about walking around. Restaurant across the street, Di Zucherre, serves a great breakfast.

Spent two nights here recently. While the hotel was undergoing some renovation this did not distract at all from our experience.

This beach location was spectacular and the hotel itself while not brand new was well kept and spotlessly clean.

We arrived in Puerto Rico by cruise ship and went immediately to the hotel. Of course so did a lot of our fellow passengers. Check in was backed up and we waited in line for about 30 minutes. I can't blame the hotel for this since their staff seemed prepared for the onslaught of cruisers and did their best to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible. After checking our bags we were off to Old San Juan for sightseeing.

The cab ride to Old San Juan cost $16 but was well worth the fare. After a couple of hours in town we received a call from the Marriott that our room was ready. This was about 3:00pm. Official check in is 4:00pm. We were thankful for the call and headed back to the hotel. As promised at check in we were given a room with an ocean view overlooking the pool area. The room was very large and equipped with a small refrigerator and complementary water. As stated earlier this is not a new hotel but our room seemed freshly painted and remodeled.

Our second day we spent a few hours on the beach. The hotel provided lounge chairs and the staff was friendly and helpful in the setting them up for us. We had a wonderful day sunning, swimming and looking for seashells. The seashell hunt wasn't very productive but fun just the same.

When we tired of the beach we spent some time in the pool area after which we went to our room to get ready for an evening of exploring Old San Juan by night. While getting ready my wife noticed that there was a wedding going on right outside our balcony in the pool area and enjoyed watching the ceremony just outside our room and 5 stories below.

Don't miss going to Old San Juan at night. It's an entirely different experience than during the day. There were several areas with live bands and craft booths as well as street food. The area around El Morrow is all light up with colorful lighting and gorgeous at night. A perfect end to a perfect vacation.

I'm a little late getting around to review this hotel, but it was amazing! Absolutely love, love, love this hotel. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly, warm, and accommodating. Our favorite staff member worked in the restaurant downstairs, and I believe his name was Jose. He said he had been working in the food/beverage department of the hotel for over 15 years, and wow, what a pro! He was our server at least 5 times, and always remembered us, and treated us so well. Jose, if you get to see this, my wife and I are so grateful for your kindness, professionalism, attentiveness, and warm spirit everytime we interacted with you. Which brings me to the food! It was excellent, from the churrasco steak, to the salmon, everything was 5 star. That was probably the best salmon I've ever had. Perfect flavor, tenderness, just amazing. All of the food was great. They have Nutella Creme Brulee yall! That's taking dessert to the next level, and it was heavenly.

Our room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. I did like having the in-room safe for valuables. Its a large safe so it could fit multiple items, including "large" electronics like iPads and laptops. No view is bad in this hotel. It would have been nice to have an ocean view, but the city view was very pretty at night, and the mountains far off in the distance looked very cool. Still, if you get the chance, try for an Ocean view. I can only imagine how beautiful that would look.

They offer complimentary Rum Punch drinks when you check in, and they are delicious. Order from the bar in the lobby. Best bar in the hotel. They also have a frozen cocktail called a Miami Vice, which is Strawberry daquiri mixed/swirled with Pina Colada. My wife could not stop ordering those, and it became her favorite drink while we were there.

We had a lot of fun at the casino. We played slots a few times, and really didn't have fun with that. The real fun was at the roulette table. That was a blast!

Also, because we were on our honeymoon, the staff really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Whether we were going to their restaurant or bar, the concierge would always call ahead to let them know we were coming. Also, two different times, the hotel sent complimentary wine and cheese to our room as a congratulatory gift on getting married.

The pool area was nice. There are two bars down in that area, one that sits in one of the pools, and one that sits by the back exit of the hotel that leads to their section of the beach. Both serve excellent drinks.

The concierge desk was wonderful. They were able to make plenty of dining suggestions, and help us book all of our tours and activities that we wanted. They were always polite, friendly, and helpful. I highly recommend the Bacardi Factory Tour and the Bio-Bay Tour. The Bio-Bay is the probably one of the coolest things you will ever see. Image Disney meets Avatar with glowing water at night. Beautiful!

My wife and I loved this hotel, and is probably a good reason why we fell in love with Puerto Rico with just our first visit. Everywhere we went was nice, everone we encountered was bi-lingual, and no one made us feel insecure about not speaking fluent Spanish. Also, there is a hamburger place right across the street from the resort calls Buns. Go there! Best hamburger around. We went there three times!

I cannot say enough about this hotel. Our honeymoon was perfect, aside from my wife getting a little sick from a place we ate at in Old San Juan. Because of that, we ended up eating most of our meals at the hotel, which was fine. They had breakfast specials each day, and great dinner every night.

Do not hesitate and just stay here. It was well worth the experience. It was some of the best service we have ever had. Thank you to all of the staff we encountered there. You really helped make our Honeymoon beyond special! Front desk, bartenders, restaurant hosts and servers, especially Jose, the beach crew to help set up chairs and umbrellas, the housekeeping staff who kept that hotel clean and beautiful, the fitness center team for the tour, everyone. This is a well run hotel with people who will care for you and treat you great when you stay!

We stayed from July 21-28, 2013. The weather was absolutely beautiful, except for that initial Monday. It rained all day, but it was still somehow beautiful and not gloomy at all. Love this hotel and love Puerto Rico!

Room Tip: Ocean View room if you can get it. City view is ok. Its neat to see people walking and all the build...
