“Budget hotel - terrific location!”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

This is a basic hotel. Its smaller rooms are quite small but the price is reasonable, the place is acceptably clean, and the location is fantastic! Steps from the Condado beach and and a short block to the bus that takes you right to Old San Juan for 75 cents. The included breakfast is terrrible - white toast, poor pastries, Fruit Loops or Corn Flakes, orange juice and coffee/tea. But the Marriot is right across the street if you crave more up market hotel dining or drinking, and Condado's main street is one block away. We would definitely stay again as we would rather spend our money seeing the attractions.

Rooms were small and old but the service was top notch. Transformer blew on the second night and we were assured that if electricity wasnt restored we would be moved to sister property. The location was also amazing! If you want big hotel amenties, dont stay here. But if youre on a budget and want basic needs met with an amazing view, stay here!!!

If you're looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it. It's basic, but the location can't be beat, and that's exactly what we were looking for. Having planned several activities, we were just looking for a hotel that was safe and clean and had two beds to crash on. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the rooms were basic but had everything we needed.

The best part is the location - it is steps away from Condado Beach with its beautiful white sand and warm water. Chairs can be rented for $5 per day and the hotel supplies beach towels. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and souvenir shopping in the area. There is also a great Walgreens one block away. Taxis to Old San Juan are $15 flat rate. There are two parking spots in the hotel and a few street parking spots if you're lucky enough to snag one. Otherwise, covered secure parking is available across the street at the Marriott for $18/night.

I would definitely recommend the Sandy Beach Hotel for an inexpensive place to lay your head. We are already planning our next trip!

Room Tip: We were originally in 107, which was quiet but had a tiny bathroom. We were moved to 100 which was...

Wow, what a serious dump. Basic items such as TV did not work, even after two requests to fix. The shower would not drain, the faucet was backwards( hot ran cold, cold ran hot). The tiles on the floor were cracked and had sharp edges, nice way to slice your foot!
Worst was the fire hazards. No smoke alarm-removed from room, and the cord on lamp was spliced.
Stay away from here! This is strictly last resort if there s nothing left in town.

Clean cozy comfortable hotel. Bathroom a little small. Desk work all the time and good service. Imperfect breakfast. This hotel is in easy access. Closely have a taxi stand, a beach adjacent to the hotel. Further down the street has a laundry and 24-hour super.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are the same

This place was cute after you get used to to steep incline going up and the unmarked last step of what appears to be a long slope at the end, until you trip and realize there is a stair there. I did comment to them that with a stroller, this could be perilous for someone, meaning me.

The people who work there are really sweet! They have an elevator which is quite tiny, but works. It does not seem to line up with the floors it stops at, however. So watch your step. You have to watch your step a lot in Condado and in Old San Juan. There are literally huge holes in the sidewalks and tiles that fall away leaving you with a mere precipice of salvation. That is, if your foot doesn't get caught. This hotel was very cute and has a nice outdoor patio where you can have an ok breakfast. The toaster over did not really work right.

The parlor area is really cutely decorated. There are nice travel brochures to help you get ideas for your trip. There are always tons of taxis outside. Don't even bother waiting for a but. It takes hours and they never seem to arrive. I gave up and finally rented a car. You really need a car while there. IT's not like being in Europe or Israel where the busses are all over the place. The walk across the bridge the long way to Condado Plaza is really pretty. And there is a little beach along the way that is great if you have kids because there are no really big waves. Most of the beaches everywhere are kind of dangerous with kids. Also in Pinones there are beaches toward the end of the town that are shallower and safer. This hotel was really fun and nice, aside from the gay disco bar next door. The coqui frogs begin at around 4:30 or so and are a wonderful compliment to this fast paced city.

Room Tip: I am quite sure you can hear the dance music from any angle.
