Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel

Good:
- We were allowed to use the pool and shower well after our checkout time.

Bad:
- Sheets were unclean and room was dirty
- Evening staff didn't tell us about the amenities the location had to offer.
- Photos don't really tell you how small the pool really is.
- In House restaurants, especially the Chicago Burger Company, were terrible
- VERY NOISY

SUMMARY:
If you aren't a cruise ship passenger, this hotel is not for you. It's not worth staying here, and spending the money it costs. Get a better hotel option.

This hotel is right in front of the Old San Juan cruise ship port. It is in walking distance to all of the historical sights in Old San Juan. The local map of Old San Juan from the tourist district is not to scale. I'm in moderate shape, and it was a very leisurely walk. There is such a grid-lock of vehicles, we walked around quicker than the free trolley could get us from point A to point B. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and it was in a convenient location, but we didn't sleep very well at all. We were left to wonder if the walls were made of paper because we heard every guest's conversations as plain as if they were standing right in our room. We had an early flight out the next morning, so we went to bed at a decent time, but that didn't matter as we heard every guest right into the early morning hours. I would not stay here again for this reason only. If you don't mind the noise, this was a nice hotel. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a large tub. We didn't use the rooftop pool, but it looked very nice and relaxing. I would have liked a refrigerator in our room, but there was not one. I don't know if you can request one or not though because I didn't try. I also appreciated that there was free internet for guests.

Room Tip: I used priceline to book this room.

The service in this hotel was not much better than normal. Got a terrible attitude from front desk staff both at check in and check out. The older gentleman at the front desk last name Rodriguez was especially rude. The thing that upset me thebost about this stay is that i ended up with a cold, flu... I may be allergic to the air in the hotel. it is imposible to open the windows so there is litereally no fresh air. after the first night i woke up with a horrible pain in my throat. today checking out 4 days later I am much sicker and super happy to leave and excited to go home and breathe fresh air. FOr food, breakfast buffet was good, Chicago Burger CO. pretty terrible and the Tuscan Grill was pretty good. I wouldnt recomend this hotel...

Room Tip: ask for a room with windows you can open.

My husband and I travel all over the world, we use our Starwood points for many of our trips.
The hotel had horrible service, we even got talked back by the person at the check in counter! Being a Starwood Preffered guest you get certain percs, such as a separate check in line, at this hotel it did not matter.
Lobby area is outdated and small.
The room was ok, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My family stayed there for one night after a Caribbean cruise. The lobby was in chaos when we got there by 11am. People were standing and sitting all over the place. Our check-in was delayed several times before we were told the room was ready by 4:40pm. Our San Juan exploring plan was ruined because of this. When we finally got into the room at 7pm, we found a smelly room was waiting for us. The room was definitely far below Sheraton standard. I have to say the staff were friendly, but just couldn't resolve anything.

Hotel is in a FABULOUS location for walking around Old San Juan and for the cruise ships.

When we got to our 1st room it had the worst musty smell ever. I've stayed in hostels and mom/pop places all over and have never had a smell like that. We immediately went to the lobby and asked to switch. The staff apologized and switched us right away. The problem was Room 2 was just as bad. At this point, after a long work and travel day we just decided to stay.

Room was fairly clean, pool was pleasant and location was great. However, not up to Sheraton standards.

Stayed one night with my mom and my 15 year old. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were pretty basic. The room did have a sort of dingy wet smell. They could use new carpeting. The rooms are a little expensive, but we didn't pay for the room we paid for the great location the hotel is located at. It's smack in the middle of old San Juan. Very close to shops and restaurants and of course the marina. The hotel has a nice pool on the roof over looking the marina-very pretty. Based on where the hotel is located I would stay here again.
Oh, but do not eat at the restaurant on the 2nd floor- not good at all!!
