“Nice Location & Great Atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the Sheraton Old Juan For 3 days. Must say my first overnight stay in Old San Juan.. Will not be the last. Despite its perfect location to all that Old San Juan has to offer, just minutes away.. You feel safe walking around at night. The room service was really good not as pricey as you would think. The roof top pool .. Not so big but serves it purpose.

As other reviews have said, yes, it is an older property, yes, its is small, but if you are visiting to get the feel and experience of old San Juan, then you need to stay here. Great friendly staff, remodeled rooms, and walk to anywhere in old San Juan from here. The gym and pool are rather small, but if you want a resort then stay on the beach at the W or St. Regis, this hotel is about being in the historic city. CVS pharmacy nearby to stock up on water and other goods, parking expensive (valet $24 day) but much better than hunting for your own spot. You wont need a car in Old San Juan, only if you venture out into the newer part of the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor, not all rooms have a view but that isn't the point, you are in Old San J...

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The suite was nice and clean with comfy beds but the furniture (couch & chair) in the living room should be cleaned or replaced soon. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. There is a musty/old smell but we sprayed room freshener and it helped. The rooftop pool and spa are very small and we didn't use them because it was crowded when we tried. My husband used the exercise room and said it was decent but it does have a beautiful view when working out. I wished they offered wifi and free breakfast. There is a teriffic coffee shop accross the street and you can grab a tasty bit to eat off the street trucks down the street and around the corner. I would stay here again because of the location alone but not too much more.
PS- there is some sort of creepy noise when the water is used. I think it's the old pipes.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The first room that we checked into had the musty, mildewy smell that others have mentioned in their reviews. We requested a room change and they were able to move us to the 5th floor the next day. Our new room did not have any issues. The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. Breakfast was not included with the room, but the room does have a coffeemaker and they supply Starbucks coffee. The hotel is centrally located and we were able to walk to the shops, fort, etc. We even walked back from Condado after dropping off our rental car. My husband used the hot tub and pool and said the hot tub was not hot enough and the pool was okay. The rooftop area where the pool and hot tub are located does have a great view of the city. Since you have to use your key/card to operate the elevator we felt very safe. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but they were helpful.

For what I was looking for -- a very centrally-located hotel that allowed me to do Old San Juan without a car AND had a pool -- the Sheraton was the best option for the rate when I was there in July. And it's perfectly located. BUT, it's definitely below the standards of other Sheratons I've stayed at. Bed not that great, small room with a window that couldn't be opened about the size of one in a cruise ship cabin. And on the first morning I was there, there were serious leaks (from a pretty serious storm, to be fair). The hotel responded quickly to move me -- but to a room two floors lower with a view of the parking lot rather than water. All in all, it was fine ... but just that. Served as a convenient base for exploring the rest of the city. The pool area is nice but definitely small, and I didn't try the restaurants so have no perspective there.

Room Tip: A "partial bay view" room has a tiny not-to-be-opened windos.

I went to the Sheraton SJ for just 1 day. The hotel is located behind the harbour. Taxi from the airport 21 US$

Service at the front desk not good, not friendly and I got the wrong room. That one was no room, it was a "hile". Dusty, loud, no view. After the complain, I've got another room. Much bigger and clean but no view to. The 277$ are more than to much.

I will start off with saying this not a resort, so do not expect it. But it is a fun little hotel perfectly situated. The fact you are able to walk around in Old San Juan is really the best reason to stay here since you can really forget any other options....we had a small suite with small balcony and saw the cruise ships coming and going, surprisingly to our liking.....( and we are not cruise people). There's an amazing coffee shop nearby across the street to the right, which has some of the best coffee we've had anywhere in the world. The hotel is a little dated, but much like the rest of Old San Juan it works.
