We chose this hotel solely because of it's location to our cruise port. Turns out that Carnival is right out the door but Royal Caribbean docks clear across the bay. The hotel was great accommodations and near to a lot of fun restaurants and bars. Senor Frogs is literally next door.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Indeed, some cruise ships - usually RCCL & Celebrity dock across the bay which is 1.6 mile cab ride. Nonetheless, regardless of which hotel you stay in San Juan, you will likely end up visiting Historic Old San Juan. Glad you enjoyed!

After arriving in Old San Juan for a few days stay prior to our cruise departure we discovered our previously booked hotel was closed with no notice. Albeit at a price we checked in to the Sheraton and the stay was wonderful. The staff, accommodations, amenities and location are far and away the best choice when staying on Old San Juan. Look no further then this choice!

This hotel is good enough to sleep in the night before your cruise, or a night after your cruise but I would not recommend it for an extended length of time.

The most disappointing was the pool. It looks like something in a small apartment building, not a hotel in a hot destination. So if all you want to do is lay out in the sun on your last day of your holiday, this is not the place. There are walls that block the sun, not enough towels, and even less chairs. I wanted to take a swim at about 3:00 in the afternoon after a day exploring in San Juan, not only was there no chairs but there were no pool towels left either. I asked the maid in the hallway to bring more towels, she said she would so I laid my things by the side of the pool, because there was no where else to place them, and jumped in, thinking that when I got out the towels would be there. The maid did bring some towels, but only 4 so by the time I got out they were gone. I had to walk back to my room dripping wet through the hallways. I know that doesn't sound like such a big deal but when I mentioned there were no towels by the pool to the front desk later, they shrugged like they did not seem to care.

Also, when we booked our excursion with the concierge, he seemed like we were inconveniencing him. The restaurant staff were really great. We had the sweetest elderly man waiting on us at breakfast one morning. Overall the stay was just ok. I probably wouldn't stay there again. I would pay the $15.00 for the five minute taxi and stay at the Hilton, at least you can relax on the beach or the beautiful pool and have staff that are happy to book your excursion, and make sure you have a towel!

Dear guest,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. Indeed being the only branded hotel in Historic Old San Juan district we have limited "footprint land" and our pool is just an amenity to relax rooftop but we agree that towels should always be available at all times. We regret the inconveniences you described.

If you're looking for a more urban adventure, the Sheraton Old San Juan is a great location. The rooms are an average size and very clean. There is a very small pool on the roof with a hot tub that closes around 11. There is also a small but nice fitness room on the top floor. The view from our room was of the bay where we couldn't see the cruise ships. The cruise ships dock across a large street so they aren't right up against the hotel, but you definitely notice their presence for better or worse.
