We have stayed several times here in the past.
Stayed here after our cruise.
Despite being promised our room early, we were not allowed to check in until nearly 4:00 pm.
That really was a downer, as we were stuck with our luggage and could not do anything.
The pool area was jammed, and the front lobby was also very busy.

Very Disappointed as it was a waste of a spectacular day in the Caribbean

Dear guest,
We appreciate your feedback and are truly sorry for the misunderstanding. Early access to any room is based on same becoming available by the time you arrive and with sellouts every weekend, it seems a room did not became available. We also gladly store all luggage at no cost to our guest, so they can enjoy the many attractions available just steps from the hotel. We value your business and hope we get another opportunity to have you here.

This hotel was great and very conveniently located across from the cruise ship terminal. Stayed here after our cruise. Would totally return. The hotel staff were very helpful and stored our luggage until our room was ready.

We stayed here 2 nights before a cruise. I thought we were going to be right across from our cruise, but it turns out Celebrity leaves from across the bay. The hotel was still a good choice. Lots of restaurants located on the street behind the restaurant. Old San Juan is easy to walk around too, so staying here made it convenient. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast one day and it was pretty standard. Would definitely stay here again.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed. True Celebrity Cruise pier is 1.6 miles away but if you stay anywhere else, you would have likely taken cabs to come to Historic Old San Juan anyway. Old San Juan is the place to be day or night. Hope you also enjoyed your cruise vacation.

Spent the night before our cruise at this hotel and were very glad we did. Our room was comfortable and the location allowed us to conveniently see a little of Old San Juan prior to our cruise. The pool IS small if that is important to you but the location on the rooftop is fun and has a lot of ambience at night. The hotel staff kindly allowed us to store our luggage the morning of the cruise so we could continue our San Juan exploration after checking out and prior to boarding the ship. We saw Fort Morro (well worth seeing) that morning and were able to catch the free trolley back to the hotel to collect our luggage. We enjoyed a great dinner at Pizza Rustica - a very doable walk from the hotel. Breakfast turned out to be a problem - all the places we researched were closed (despite hours posted as open - probably due to Easter weekend) but El Meson saved the day with a very good and REASONABLY priced breakfast.

As SPG members, we usually stay at Sheratons and Westins in major cities so we opted for this hotel based on location and a late arrival in San Juan. After renting a car at the airport, we drove 20 minutes or so to get on site. The service was great, but the hotel itself was in need of renovations/updating. The carpet lined rooms felt a little dirty, but maybe it was just the humidity of the region taking its toll.

The location was perfect as a launch point for walks through Old San Juan. In combination with the free trolleys, we could get around to both Fort El Morro and San Cristobal with little effort. There is surprisingly very little to eat nearby for breakfast, and ended up having lunch at 10 AM. We did not take advantage of the casino, as we travelled with children and had no interest in gambling on this trip. There is no nearby beach for those who are curious.

In short, the excellent service and location made up for some of the deficiencies in room quality, so I think it deserves three stars (but barely!).

Thanks for sharing your experience and for the compliments about our service. Old San Juan is a foodie paradise and also offers many excellent breakfast choices just steps from the hotel like Cafe Cortes, Caficultura, Cafe Berlin, Manolin, Cuatro Sombras and more. There is also a nice secluded beach 4 blocks away across the Capitol-Senate house. Thank you again for your business and SPG - Starwood support.
