I spent a week in this hotel for my vacation. Since I was going to be in San Juan the same week as the Spring Break crowds would be there I wanted a quiet hotel that was walking distance from the beach. They provided quality customer service and were very attentive to my needs. The pool was wonderful, the room was much bigger and better than I anticipated, and the staff gave very helpful suggestions on how to navigate the island as well as local attractions outside of the usual tourist hot spots. I also found out that you could use the amenities in the sister hotel down the street as well as theirs. Well worth the bargain price I paid; this is my personal go-to hotel for my future trips to San Juan!

Was a decent hotel and very cute property but is in need of an update. The staff really made the difference and is the reason I gave it 3 stars instead of less. Check out time is 11 which is kind of early with no option for a late check out. Also had a serious ant issue in the bathroom.

My mother & I stayed here for 2 nights- small room, but neat & clean with AC. Took a few minutes for the hot water to arrive in the shower but once it did, it was plenty hot. Staff very friendly and helpful with helping make sightseeing plans & arranging car rental pick-up with a very affordable company. The hot tub pool at the sister hotel just down the street was most enjoyable. The beach is just a 2 minute walk away and we could catch the bus to Old San Juan a block away. We ate breakfast at the sister hotel - Acacia- both mornings. Delicious food & our server was very friendly! We didn't spend much time at the hotel because we were out and about but any of the patios certainly would have been a lovely place to hang out and visit, read a book or just relax.

This hotel has several special features. First, the bartender (do not laugh). He is the guy who can be your PR guide - just ask him about his recommendations. A fun person to talk to, too. He might leave earlier, though, if there are no customers (:)). The same bartender serves breakfast in the morning.

The sister property, the Acacia hotel, has a nice warm pool. We stayed there for several hours, met people, and had some beer/wine. The At Wind Chimes hotel has a small swimming pool that we used, too.

The hotel itself is quite charming.

The rooms are small and basic, but quite clean. The receptionist can help with booking a trip or with recommendations on what to do. Keep in mind, though, that the hotel is located close to the beach, but very far from the old San Juan.

Needed a place for our last night in San Juan. We booked our room through Agoda, but somehow the reservation didn't go through. The manager was kind enough to still offer us the one room he had left (which was higher priced) at the same price.

The suite we were offered was big enough to accommodate all of us, but had only one bathroom. Great location, service and quite clean. The hotel has nice feel about it and was well done up. Recommend you check it out if you're looking for a place in downtown.

The best advice I can give about this place is read the reviews ahead of time. If you want a quaint place, a block from the beach, ave accommodations, at a great price (for SJU) this is the place.
If expect some one to fawn you, spotless and polished rooms, a kiss your butt approach from the staff, this place is not for you.
you get what you pay for, book one of the cheaper rooms, that's what you get. upgrade to a deluxe room. get much nice area of the hotel, a much bigger room, and quiet. With a fridge and MW
We knew ahead of time we may have to wait outside the gate which we did. I even called the desk and got no answer. fortunately another guest let in so we could wait in the lobby until the sole desk person decided to return from his 30 minute jaunt to the sister hotel down the block. This was really upsetting to a woman who was waiting for a cab to be called by the desk for ride to the airport and no one was there to call the cab for her. So much for self help.
We knew ahead of time the advertised 2p check in was really 3p.
The staff has what I would call the Caribbean attitude about things. Aloof and unapologetic. If you chill out and take it in stride you'll know how to handle better.
All that being said, we liked the place and want to come back Yes there's a hotel cat (read the reviews allergic people) we invited it in for a visit and it stayed for a nap. Its easy walking distance to the more expensive Condado Area and restaurants. Easy cab ride to the airport and Old San Juan. The Ocean Park beach is great, very wide and the playground for the average Borinqueño.
I read some reviews that said the beach was dirty. well it is a beach and it is an ocean. full of stuff. there are no hotels on this beach and it is maintained very well by the city I thought. There was some trash after the weekend crowds but Monday morning it was all picked up
For supplies, there is Super Max Diego Market a few blocks away near the Double Tree. Easy to walk. No concerns at all about the neighborhood. But then again if you're not used to being in a city, it may be intimidating to see people who don't look like you in their own world. just relax and enjoy the Borinqueño's, we found almost all of them to be extremely polite and nice if you just give them a smile and say please.

Not even a few friendly employees and being located one block from the beach can make this anything more than a very poor hotel choice. The advertised 2PM check-in became 3PM and even then the room was not made up. The advertised room overlooking "the city and garden" ended up being only slightly larger than the combined space of several walk-in closets plus a tiny attached bathroom...located at the end of a short, dark hallway on the ground floor! Complimentary wireless was never more than several-bars strength and only available in their small check-in area plus very limited access from their bar area. A do-not-disturb sign on your door means that they wait until 9:10AM to try to open your door! The sheets were supposedly clean but had large stains. The advertised "conveniences offered" were a ceiling fan (which they did not charge for), a safe (for a fee) and never-seen newspapers. The list of comments/observations could go on but are probably not necessary. For twenty-somethings seeking accommodations more akin to a lower-end hostel, this property might serve your purpose.
