This was our first stop on a nine day vacation to PR. This is a nice hotel, Just one block from the beach and short walk to restaurants. Small lap pool. Fantastic Seafood Chowder.

The room was small. The staff was not particularly nice.

The AC in the room was too strong (and soooo noisy), we had to turn it off.
The room ended up being so warm that we could not sleep at all.
I had to go sleep on the bathroom floor.
Plus, there were mosquitos - both of us got bitten at least 10 times each (at least).

The hot tub was broken so we did not even get to try this.

The beach was just average. There are a lot of tourists with their dogs.
And they leave empty bottles and barely hide dog's poop in the sand.
How can you enjoy a beach when you see people take such bad care of it.

The only good thing about the hotel was the restaurant!
Good food, good decor. We went there for a romantic dinner.

If you are in San Juan I would highly recommend the Gallery Inn instead. It is an amazing hotel, full of pieces of arts and parrots. The rooms are beautiful. The owner is personally welcoming you. It's really a hidden wonderland.

Went to PR with my boyfriend for a long weekend trip over memorial day weekend. it was our first time there, So we wanted to stay in San Juan.
Overall, we had a good experience at this hotel and would recommend it if you are not looking for an uber 5 star experience. Its def more modest 3 star facility, but very comfortable and great location on the beach.

The location was perfect for me, as I dont like super touristy areas- This hotel is in the Ocean Park neighborhood and there are many local restaurants with in a 5 min walk. We loved Panuchos (awesome ceviche and tacos!) and La Chola. We liked Blonda and Pinkys for breakfast. we found all of them on Yelp.

The hotel is right on the BEACH- you walk out the side door about 30 feet and its there! that was the best part. The hotel provides beach towels. The beach is essentially untouched meaning there are no chairs, cabanas or umbrellas on this beach. Just you and your towel. it was gorgeous and uncrowded. there are a bunch of palm trees and mangrove trees (i think thats what they were?) so there is plenty of shade if you are pale like me. i would recommend to bring a beach blanket or mat to lay your towels on, but not completely necessary.
There was a guy in a hut/truck selling smoothies, pina colladas, and sandwiches. Definitely BYO rum and he'll add it to the smoothies for you :)
The pool was nice to relax in after the beach but only used it once when it was too windy at the beach.

The room was very 3 star and the decor is a little dated- but over all clean. meaning: smaller, no real closet (just a bar with hangers), the bathroom door only had slats- so there wasn't a lot of "bathroom privacy" if you needed it. Our balcony faced the street, but we had a view of the ocean from our window. the bed was pretty lumpy but managed to sleep well anyway.
Ladies, there is also no Hair Dryer and the shampoo/conditioner is an all-in-one (ew), so come prepared!

the restaurant in the hotel, Niche, was excellent for dinner! we ended up eating there twice. I love the app wtih the button mushrooms and shrimp, the app of the sashami. for entrees, the Halibut and the mahi were excellent. the "Volcano" and duck entrees were also very good. they have a talented chef there. Skip breakfast there however, they didnt know how to poach an egg and make the yokes runny, which is egg poaching 101.

Heading into Old San Juan is about a 10-15 min taxi ride (or about 4 miles). Old san juan was cute, but SUUUUUPER toursity. Tons of shops selling the same I heart PR crap. We only spent about 3 hours wondering around. We ate at Ostra Cosa- food was very good, i loved the ceviche. but we were quickly over it and felt our time was better spent on the beach.

We ended up doing two excursions- which are all mostly based out of Fajardo which is an hour cab ride from this hotel.
1.Bio-Bay kayaking- any company will be fine, as there were tons of other tours companies around us. this was fun, but super crowded "cow heard" experience. there are about 15-20 kayaks in our group with most of the people not knowing how to paddle in a kayak. most of the time is spent kayaking through the mangrove canal. then when you get to the bay, you only get about 10 min there before they make you go back. It is amazing how the water lights up- but it was Sh** show getting there.

2. Booze cruise to Culebra- flamenco Beach. COMPLETELY AWESOME!! Get your butt to Culebra Playa Flamenco some how. The sand is powder and there is a reef with some awesome snorkling. I saw some cuttle fish and had a blast following them around the reef.

Over all a great first time in PR- Happy with the hotel. Next trip we will stay in Culebra or Vieques, but we are happy we stayed in San Juan at the Acacia for our first trip.

I added picts of our room and the beach for your reference :D
Have fun in PR!!

Room Tip: Ask if your balcony faces the street or ocean- the street balcony view is not thrilling... :/

A perfect location close to the beach, a good atmosphere in the hotel and helpfull service; the stay here was excellent. I would give five stars if only the breakfast would have been better, it was in a small area of the hotel and was not satisfying. The large jacuzzi did make up for this though, I would really suggest this hotel.

From start to finish, our experience here was terrible. Horrible bed. Horrible customer service. We tried to make the best of it, but after a couple days, we had to leave the hotel and stay elsewhere. Here are details from our experience.

First of all, be aware that, even though the hotel is advertised as "steps from the beach," don’t expect to be able to walk on the beach after dark in this neighborhood. As the guy at the front desk warned us, "do not go to the beach at night. Unholy things happen down there at night."

Next, don’t expect to have parking available. The hotel only has two parking spaces that must be reserved in advance. I reserved a parking space but when we arrived, no parking was available.

Actually, don’t expect to get what you reserve in general. We reserved a room with a queen bed for four nights. When we arrived, we noticed that the bed was smaller than a normal queen size bed. At one point, my girlfriend checked the sheets and they were labeled "full size."

Even worse, the bed was the worst I have ever slept on. It felt like sleeping on lumpy cardboard. After attempting to sleep on it, I literally awoke in the middle of the night, put towels on the tile floor and attempted to sleep there.

I had to use towels, because there are literally no extra blankets in this hotel. The room had one sheet and one blanket. My girlfriend requested an extra blanket on more than one occasion and was told that they did not have any in the hotel. None. I have never heard of a hotel without an extra blanket on the premises.

If in room WiFi matters to you, don’t expect it to be available just because the hotel promises it.
My girlfriend was finishing up work that required this, and was unable to connect to WiFi from the room. She had to spend time sitting either on the stairway or down in the lobby completing her work.

And if you have any problems, don’t expect any help. After all of the problems we encountered, we decided to leave the hotel and requested to have the remainder of our stay refunded. We were told that only a manager could discuss refunds with us, and the manager was not in and that they would call us. We waited two days and then called but the manager was not in. After that, we tried calling every day at different times of day. The manager was never in and never returned our call.

From my reading on tripadvisor, this is apparently not out of the ordinary for this hotel. Other guests are also told that when the manager arrives, (s)he will issue a refund, and then this never happens.

Long story short: stay elsewhere. You’ll be happier.

This hotel has little stairs and balconies everywhere. Our room was small and overlooking the hot tub, which was fine for our stay, but if there had been any number of people in it it would have been noisy. Front desk staff were helpful. Hotel in a very quiet area, only a 2 min walk to the beach. We were only there one day between flights. Breakfast looked pricey so we walked 10 min toward the old city and came to a line of lovely cafes - we recommend this. Then you can walk back by the beach.
We travelled with our little dog - they accept pets which was the main reason to try them, but overall felt it was not particularly good value.

Traveling friends, early-mid twenties, from Chicago. Absolutely enjoyed our stay. We were welcomed from the staff from the moment we jumped out of the taxi from the airport. The service is impeccable and the kind desk staff have some of the best recommendations and guidance to offer! They made arrangements for us from taxi services to translating from spanish to english. From our rooms' door to the beach was ~30 feet (30 second walk)!

We primary taxied around Condado and San Juan until one day when we did rent a car to go El Yunque. Every taxi we jumped into knew of Acacia and knew exactly where to take us at the end of a long day. Definitely consider Acacia when planning your trip to PR - the restaurant inside the hotel (NICHE) is also superb!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a balcony. Some rooms walk out right onto the large hot tub!
