Another wonderful 3rd stay at Hotel Milano with my husband. A very comfortable and charming location in the heart of old San Juan...close..walking distance to...everything..one wants to experience when in Puerto Rico..and then more. The key to traveling in PR is to explore the island and to have experiences beyond lounging at a pool, which is probably what some prefer when traveling. We love the fact that our host Pepin has always been helpful in where to go next. No problem in getting a taxi ride wherever, because the front desk staff is always available, helpful and expedient in this, also very friendly and knowledgable with suggestions.
Our accomodations here are always great!! Feeling at home whenever we go to PR. Our room is always clean and impeccable...and I am a germ freak!! Air conditioning perfect...so loud sounds from old San Juan party scenario...as others have complained unjustifiably is not true.At least not in our stay here always. You are in PR. Leave Milano Hotel and really enjoy what Old San Juan has to offer.Perfect location!!!

Hotel Milano was in the perfect location for touring old town San Juan. The front desk personel are helpful and friendly. They allow you to keep your luggage in the lobby if you are spending the day in San Juan before boarding your plane/cruise ship, which was so helpful!

The rooms were average, and the ac was a little bit squeaky, but Hotel Milano served our purposes perfectly.

The lobby smells like mildew.
The rooms are small and cramped.
The front desk staff doesn't even look up when you come in, so anyone could be entering. It would be nice to have a smile and a hello.
Breakfast was good, both location on top of the hotel and food and friendly helpful staff.
Location is probably the best in the city.

We spent two nights here recently. After an initial mix-up with the booking (we booked on-line with veneres, com and when we arrived, the reception staff had no record of the booking....), everything was satisfactory. The location is great. The room was reasonable although the bathroom is a little tired and could do with a makeover. The A/C had on or off controls only. When off, too hot, when on, quite cool and breezy, but it was very quiet and we slept with it on. The windows were small and high up but the room seemed bright and there was no street noise at all. The bath plug did not work properly making having a bath difficult and the water was not consistently hot. The mattresses could be firmer. But the location and cleanliness of the place made up for those small problems and this was not mainland USA after all!

We just got back from San Juan and staying at the Hotel Milano. The location is the best in the city as it is right in the center of Old San Juan and you can walk to practically every attraction. It is surrounded by restaurants, bars and even a theater. It is also close to the piers where cruise ships come and go. A few feet down the street there is a free bus that takes you close to everything, if you are not big walkers and just can't do that anymore. The hotel is very basic, but is clean and well maintained. The price will seem high for what you get, but if you compare it to others in the area it is actually not bad. You will have a tiny tv with very few channels, most of which are Mexican soaps. There is a news channel, but not CNN, which is highly unusual. It is is HLG (or something like that) and there are strange people on it. However, ask yourself why you would want to watch tv in Puerto Rico anyway when there is so much to see and do. The bedding is old, but again, kept very clean. The wifi is weak all over Puerto Rico so don't blame the hotel when it is not good. There is a computer in the lobby with a printer for getting boarding passes. If you want good info on the city, wait for Luis, who is usually on from 3pm to 11pm. Breakfast is continental, in the old fashioned sense-just breads, juice, coffee and bananas-even the French throw in yogurt and cheese now. The upstairs restaurant is great, and it is a shame they only use it for breakfast. Overall, if you want to really experience Old San Juan, this is the place to go.

Room Tip: They try to put most people on the top floors when the rooms are available as the street noise can get disturbing. If you have trouble sleeping ask for a rear room.
