Description: Since our beginning in 1972 we strived to provide the best products to our new clients as well as to those that visit us on a regular basis. Even those travelers that during their brief stay in Puerto Rico, step out of the airport and visit us just to have a taste of the wonderfull things that they have heard of “La España”. Our menu is one that holds and respects an enormous tradition. From our daily baked bread to our coffee served hot every time. From our sandwiches made with the best products to that pastry that melts in your mouth. From that exquisite seafood paella, to that our very traditional galician soup. Many recepies come from past genetations and others we have given a personal twist, this way offering a unique product to those that enjoy our delicious variety. Our passion for quality is what drives us. We are in a constant lookout for better ingredients and products so we can always guarantee our best to every customer.

Everytime I go to Puerto Rico, I always come here for breakfast. Un sandwhich cubano with a freshly squeezed orange juice please! Fast and friendly atmosphere. As you eat you cant help but to look at the 3 long "vitrinas" showcases packed with mouth watering pastries. Onlyvthing on my mind is what im gonna order next. Definitely recommend.

This place is a great stop. It's clean friendly and helpful. The crowd is awesome. The menu is in Spanish but so far everyone speaks some English. Food is sooooo fabulous. Get the roast beef sandwich

Love this place, food is excellent, service is very good. The prices are average, not too expensive. Try the Cuban sandwich, excellent taste and you get your money worth. Octopus salad is very good. You must have the pastries (quesitos) with some coffee.

This is an excellent opportunity to have a taste of Spain while in Puerto Rico. An excellent opportunity to enjoy Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Spain's best in one place.

They have delicious Cuban and Medianoche sandwiches. The Cuban sandwich requires ham, pork, swiss cheese in toasted bread. The main part of the sandwich is not the bread, but the ham pork and cheese. That's how these sandwiches are at Panaderia España. The Cuban sandwich can be an excellent breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

I can also recommend the chistorra española a super delicious "chorizo" (pork sausage) if you dont mind forgetting about cholesterol for a little while.

As we were driving from San Juan to Fajardo to take the ferry (a whole other adventure--see the reviews including mine) to Vieques, I wanted to stop somewhere along the way for breakfast. I called the concierge at the Sheraton (convention center, not Old San Juan) where we had stayed for a recommendation. The young woman told me about "the bakery, where we all go". It was exactly what we wanted--somewhere the locals go. It's easy to find if you get good directions. We didn't but did get there eventually.

The outside does not look all that inviting. And parking can be hard to find. But once inside, any concerns are alleviated by the wonderful smells coming at you from all directions. There is a very long series of cases showing off the most wonderful looking baked goods of all sorts. And then down at the end, there is a gent taking orders for breakfast or sandwiches. He does speak pretty fair English and is patient even though there likely is a line behind you. You order, pay, take a ticket with a number, find a table, and wait for your order to come up. We managed to get through that process without too much difficulty and enjoyed our breakfast and fresh orange juice. And then off to Fajardo to the ferry we went.

Five days later we were back on the "big island" (from Vieques) and were attempting to return our rental car (to Europcar--EXCELLENT--SEE MY REVIEW ABOUT THEM!). We called Europcar and Tim Velez, the principal owner, personally came to find us where we'd gotten lost. He then took us to this "bakery" because he wanted us to experience "quesolitos" (little cheese filled pastries), which he bought for us while we ordered sandwiches to take for lunch. He said he'd been coming here since he was six years old! We took his gift of the quesolitos and our sandwiches and returned the car. And then went off to the airport for our return home.

So we were here twice! The place is always busy. The food is excellent. And the baked goods not only tempting but worth going off your diet!
