“If I could give more stars to Casa Castellana, I would!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

My husband and I had a delightful stay with Natalia & staff at Casa Castellana from July 9 - July 15. The house is in a perfect location about 5 minutes drive to Old San Juan and the airport, 5-minute walk to the Santurce Plazita ( super restaurants, live traditional music), 2 blocks from the Condado area and a nice beach. Casa C. is completely gated so we did not once feel unsafe. It is an elegant, beautiful property, gorgeous stained glass everywhere, tiled floors, impeccably furnished. Casa Castellana is extremely clean. I didn't once see so much as a hair or dust bunny anywhere in the place. Housekeeping comes daily.

We stayed in the charming Toledo Room, the only room that is on the bottom floor, and has its own entrance / parking space. Huge closet with small bureau, nice bathroom with good shower.
Comfy bed, soft linens and nice towels.

Breakfasts were fantastic with a tropical fruit-toast-cake-sausage buffet followed by an egg dish of some kind (omelets, French toast using Natalia's family recipe, pancakes + side of bacon/ham, cooked fresh when you are enjoying your continental appetizers! Breakfast is served on the inviting, open air third floor terrace.

Natalia is absolutely the hostess with the most-est. She helped me out with a million questions beforehand, and shared so much more info when we got there. She instantly makes you feel comfortable and excited to go to all the places she suggests! Leaving Casa Castellana felt like leaving a dear friend's house.

Here's a good example of how Natalia really wants to help her guests. She worked tirelessly for 2 days trying to get us on a Biobay tour. Finally, she suggested we just go there and see if anyone cancelled. Great advice. We found an outfit, Eco Action Tours, that just had 4 cancellations. WE literally walked up, paid, got our life jackets and got in the kayaks within 20 minutes of arriving in Fajardo!

It seems like the best housing options attract the nicest clientele too. Certainly true of Casa Castellana. We met some great folks around the breakfast buffet. Everyone was there appreciating the privilege of being in a such a peaceful and beautiful home.

I considered just about every property that was NOT a big resort or hotel before choosing Casa Castellana. I wanted an "authentic" experience, a fairly small property, close to OSJ, served breakfast, and someplace we would feel safe and comfortable. Casa Castellana exceeded our expectations.

Having said all this, Casa Castellana is not for everyone. If you are looking to hang around with a thousand tourists, 5 pools, room service, in a highly stylized environment that has more to do with making Americans comfortable than creating a real experience, do not choose Casa Castellana.

On the other hand, if you want to stay in an extremely clean and well-furnished, small B and B in a well-situated and safe neighborhood, have great breakfasts and conversations every morning, get pampered by the owner/concierge/PR expert, Natalia, enjoy her dog, Suki, and just unwind in a calming environment, sign up immediately! We loved it!

Room Tip: Toledo room is more private than the others, and has a parking space. You do get street noise, and c...

I recently traveled to PR for vacation with my fiance. This was both of our first time in PR and we wanted to stay at a place that allowed us to experience PR culture. Casa Castellana was the perfect place. It was in a nice neighborhood close to many restaurants, beaches, and nightlife. We thoroughly enjoyed the master suite and the hospitality we received from Natalia. Each morning Natalia served a wonderful breakfast and allowed us to bring in our own food and beer and store it in the Inn's fridge. When I go back to PR, I will definitely stay again at the Inn!

The charm of this wonderful home in the Condado district is only surpassed by the host. Clean and comfortable describe the furnishings, but what's really special is the 1st class treatment received from Natalia and her staff. Always a greeting with a smile and spot on recommendations for anything you may be wanting to experience in San Juan. Natalia made our short 2 day stay at the tail end of our PR vacation perfect. We stayed in the smaller Escalona Room with no complaints. Breakfast served at a reasonable hour can't be beat. Just can't say enough good things about this place. Be advised that climbing stairs in this beautiful 3 story home is part of the charm, worth every step!

Great place. Great location. Great hospitality.

You're right by the action on the main strip. Restaurants are great. Natalia will help you with all the local choices and arrangements. Make sure to spend some time on Sat. evening by the Plazita. A little bar on the corner, next to the gazebo with the live band, serves the best mojito in town.

We really enjoyed staying at the Casa Castellana for a couple of days in San Juan with family. We stayed in the Cordoba Master Suite, which was huge and had a marble bathroom fit for a Roman palace--it was definitely a special experience! The hosts are very friendly and responsive. Hostess Natalia gave us great recommendations for activities and restaurants, and they have a very cute and friendly dog as well. The breakfasts are tasty and filling, and you get to eat on the rooftop terrace surrounded by trees. The Inn is about 5-10 minutes from Condado beach, and about a 10-15 minute drive from Old San Juan, and there is street parking in front of the Inn. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We really liked the Cordoba Master Suite--it was very luxurious.

Casa Castellana is a nice alternative accommodation in Condado area. We came for a friend's wedding and they were staying at the Marriott which is only 3 blocks away. We definitely saved $$$. The hosts are welcoming and accommodating and it feels just like staying with an Aunt and Uncle. We stayed at the Granada Room with a bathroom across the hall. It wasn't a hassle for us because the house is not full capacity so we didn't run into other guests that often and for the past 30 years of my life, that's how the set up is at home growing up. Though I had high expectation with the breakfast because of the reviews here (and past experiences of gourmet breakfast from a typical bed and breakfast) but hey I am thankful for it and not complaining for something "free" and made with love. I'll definitely recommend this place to family and friends who wants to stay in Condado area. =) Ahh the ease of street parking was awesome too.

this place is perfectly located in a quiet street two blocks from the popular ashford ave meaning it has everything you need in very close walking distance. The neighborhood is lovely and very safe to walk to and from the nearby restaurants, shops, beach or La Placita. Breakfast is included and consists of a fruit, cheese and breads buffet followed by a hot breakfast that changes daily. I was super impressed to find this wasnt the average stay, Natalia and her family were so helpful and accommodating and helped to find tours and great prices on all 'touristy' things I wanted to do. the rooms are a home away from home... very clean and very comfortable.
I will definitely be going back and taking my parents with me!
