Beautiful place to stay in old San Juan - very friendly staff, awesome breakfast, wonderful views from the terrace upstairs - feels much you are somewhere in old Europe like in Italy or Spain... Highly recommend to everybody!

We were greeted upon arrival with the choice of a cold beer or coffee. The local cold beer was just what we needed after the long flight. La Terraza has just expanded from 6 rooms to 25 by taking over a neighbouring building. There is still construction happening during the day and the new elevator is sporadic but the stairs are convenient and the hotel is only 3 stories tall plus a rooftop terrace. The terrace is lovely with shady areas, tables and lounge chairs and a plunge pool that overlooks the port side of the city. We had our breakfast on the Terrace and the temperature in the shade with the ocean breeze was perfect, making us forget the Ottawa winter we left behind. Our room in the new part of the hotel had 2 queen size beds and a large bathroom with a large walk-in shower. There is free WiFi and there is a small stocked fridge in the room with reasonable prices. Even better- there is a Walgreens and a pharmacy just 3 short blocks away where you can buy snacks, wine and liquor. Our favorite purchase is the local rum, Ron del Barrilito. It is aged in old sherry casks and has a lovely aroma. From La Terraza you can walk anywhere in Old San Juan.

We had a lovely stay of 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful with information and recommendations for restaurants and activities. Our room was beautiful appointed, clean and comfortable. The hotel is suffering from some growing pains at this point with daytime construction noise. Breakfast staff and housekeeping seem to be overwhelmed, but Melissa has very graciously apologized. We'd definitely return!

This was a last minute trip, and Melissa at the front desk made sure it was absolutely perfect. My room was actually a spacious apartment with a full kitchen (the perfect place to eat their scrumptious breakfast!), four juliette balconies, comfortable beds, big closets, large bathrooms and fantastic showers. The rooftop terrace (another excellent place to enjoy a meal/cocktails) has an infinity pool overlooking Old San Juan.. simply gorgeous.
Melissa recommended and reserved day excursions to Culebra and El Yunque.. and also recommended fantastic restaurants and not-to-be missed points of interest in the area.
Beautiful, cozy, comfortable and ideally located property plus wonderful staff (Melissa, Franklin, Jessica, thank you!) = truly wonderful vacation.

Room Tip: My apartment suite in the main building was spectacular.

I highly recommend this place especially for a nice long weekend. It's perfectly located in Old San Juan and close to great bars and restaurants while somewhat removed from the cruise ship crowd closer down towards the docks. prices are very reasonable and the rooms are beautiful and have a lot of old world charm, if you get a room with a balcony even better. Very helpful front desk staff too and awesome breakfast

We had two rooms for our family over the holidays. The owners and staff were all incredible. They made us all feel so welcome, like we were part of the family. The manager, Franklin, had excellent suggestions for things to do, where to shop, and restaurants, plus he makes a great cappucino.

The location is great, on a quiet street, just a couple of blocks up the hill to museums and the old fort, and a couple of blocks down the hill to the square for groceries and shopping. The rooms and kitchens are all really great. The rooftop deck has fantastic views of the harbor and we really enjoyed relaxing with a glass of wine there in the evenings.

When we go back to San Juan, we will definitely stay here again!

Planned cruise out of San Juan, but booking hotel for few days AFTER cruise was held off till last. Why? Bc there were just too many hotels/resorts/ in the area. Searched & searched & finallllly decided on La Terraza. OMG, did I do good! From moment of booking, Franklin, the GM, kept in touch w/me, helping me to understand the process, etc.
It is difficult to explain the facility...it is Old San Juan, now mixing w/the new. It is right in the middle of Old San Juan, complete with cobble stone streets...a ton+ of charm. Technically, it's B& B, but w/acquisition of bldg. next door, it's gonna be awesome! Renovations are underway & we actually stayed in suite in new section, but not without minor problems. Hubby used to suites of the Las Vegas category, say pent house @ the Cosmo, so he had some problem with the "oldness" of the facility, but think I have convinced him of its charm; come on now, it's not America! Construction starts at 8am, & there is lots of saw dust & noise, BUT we are early risers. Breakfast is served daily DOWNSTAIRS, of fresh fruit, juice, bread, pastry, local cheese, & honey baked ham. Your room is cleaned daily, & the staff is fabulous!!! New section has very modern bathroom (so American), & VERY comfy bed. We were in room 323, w/balcony overlooking bay ( not on bay, but visible). There is fabuloso rooftop deck, now complete w/small pool, which proves very rewarding at end of long day; bar up top will be opening soon, but for now you do have to furnish your own alcohol.
Don't hesitate...if you want great stay w/lots of charm, this is your place. Learn about the trolley system (totally free) from front desk, & you can get around all over the city.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE PLACE!!!

Room Tip: Stay in back, so there is no road noise.
