“Nice hotel in great location in Old San Juan”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

This was a great stay for my wife and I as we stayed here for two nights. The hotel is in a great location as there is easy access to anything in Old San Juan (between both castles, good restaurants, close to trolley stops, close to the shore). Although me and my wife had a packed agenda and were not able to enjoy the hotel as much as we would have liked, it was a great stay. Very clean, people at the front desk were very helpful, and the terrace on the roof was a good way to end the night with a few drinks while having a nice view of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in Old San Juan. Only downside is if you are renting a vehicle. We got lucky and found a parking spot a few steps from the front door to the hotel. However, we did not have the same luck the second night. We went around like 5 times, until we decided to just pay the $25 for the parking garage that is about block and a half from the hotel. Otherwise it was a great stay.

Found La Terraza on Trip Advisor, and were not disappointed. We were immediately charmed by the Old World style. Our room was of adequate size, and had been recently redone including the bath.

We had arrive about 7:00 pm after a long day of travel, so we decided to head up to the roof terrace and mix ourselves a drink. It was a great place to relax and look over much of the old city.

The European style breakfast was a real surprise, including espresso, fresh orange juice, fresh baked baguette from their kitchen, ham rolls, fresh farmer's cheese, fresh mixed fruit, and more. We really didn't need to eat lunch after such a breakfast.

The staff were undoubtedly the best we have ever encountered, and to a person were friendly, helpful, and courteous. I can't begin to say enough about them. When we arrived we were offered coffee which was espresso style, and we were immediately hooked on Puerto Rican Coffee.

After spending 3 days prior to our cruise here, we felt like we were leaving home. We will definitely be back

La Terraza Hotel is hands down the best place to stay in Old San Juan. The lobby, dinning area, rooms, and terrace were absolutely beautifully decorated in the colonial Spanish style. Each room is uniquely decorated. The complementary breakfast and coffee was delicious with fresh fruit, bread with spreads, cheeses, pastries, and deli meat. The front desk folks do it all! We loved Jose and Melissa the most. They gave us a map and showed us all of the sites, restaurants, and local hot spots in Old San Juan. They were very personable. You must take advantage of the terrace plunge pool. It overlooks the San Juan Harbor. A beautiful view! On Fridays, the staff prepare the terrace bar with beer, snacks, and cocktails for a few hours. You can even request breakfast at 9:30 on the terrace as well. We can't wait to come back and stay at La Terraza again!

Stayed 2 nights in excellent/quaint hotel. The room and the bath was great and the staff top notch. The continental breakfast was a little more than expected and is served either in the reception area or at the nice rooftop terrace. One advisory is to be careful on the stairs. Best stay in SJ yet.

We found this gem through tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. We were upgraded to a spacious and comfortable suite on the 3 rd floor overlooking the street that was a short flight of steps from the rooftop terraces. Breakfast on the roof was great and we also enjoyed the views with a glass of wine up there after dark. La Terraza is in a great location just a short walk from many restaurants and the historical attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We willl definitely return.

I cannot say enough fabulous things about this hotel! It is in the heart or old San Juan so easy access to walking around the streets and going to great restaurants. The staff is wonderful! Melissa gave us many recommendations to awesome local eateries as we chatted and enjoyed a latte with her. Islander (I think that's his name) allowed us to check in early and was very kind to recommended that we see the sunrise on the roof deck... More like a compete terrace with infinity pool and Bluetooth speakers! I could go on and on, but definitely the place to stay! The rooms were clean and modern, staff was incredible, breakfast was delicious. I wish I didn't have to leave!

This hotel was everything we wanted and more. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We stayed here the night before our Carnival Cruise that left on a Sunday. The decor is beautiful with wonderful Caribbean colors and tile. Our room was great and the shower was amazing. We were within walking distance to all local tourist attractions in Old San Juan. We even walked to the pier with our rolling luggage and did not have to pay for a cab. Breakfast on the terrace is a MUST. The view is wonderful and food is delicious. I recommend eating at Mojitios for a great authentic Puerto Rican food. We cannot wait to go back and spend more time in Old San Juan as a day was just not enough. We will be staying here when we return!
