Captain Paco took our group of four on his well-equiped and fast boat on Lake Carraizo, a tropical jungle paradise just thirty minutes from San Juan. The place is teeming with wildlife. It's a nesting and feeding area for Osprey, several species of crane and heron, giant iguanas and the ocassional alligator. We kicked off the afternoon with several hookups on fat and hungry Jaguar Bass, followed by several red devils and channel catfish. The highlight was a male Peacock Bass that lived up to its reputation with a strong fight. Paco is a very knowledgeable guide, his equipment is top rate and well maintained and he will definitely find the fish for you. This was an outing with the kids, we caught and released about 25 good-sized fish in three hours of fishing. Paco is also an experienced fly fisherman. He will gladly help with instruction if you are a beginner. He also ties some fantastically effective flies. I will be back for some fly fishing for Peacock Bass very soon. I highly recommend Captain Paco Mendez, wether your a serious fly fisherman or just want to have a fun time catching fish in a unique setting.

Came down to San Juan for the week and we chartered both peacock and tarpon trips with Capt Paco. Peacock was awesome but tarpon was ridiculous! Capt brought us to couple different spot determined to find a big fish, had a couple strikes on some average fish but then was slammed by a monster! Tore off about 250 yards of line and then we got on it. After a hour and a half of arm burning fight we landed a 90#er absolutely a great time!!! Next time I come down, will be sure to be giv

I can't say enough good about Capt. Paco. Knowledgable, personable, all around fantastic guy. A true ambassador of Puerto Rico and the sport of fishing. It was my last day on vacation, and I could not think of a better ending. The fishing was awesome! Not to mention everything else that came in the deal. Worth every penny

My Brother in Law and I went out on a Peacock Bass trip with Capt. Paco on 11/5/13. He picked us up right on time at our Hotel, took us out to breakfast and we were on the water at dawn. He was real easy going and fun to be with. Immediately we were on the fish, and stayed that way all during the trip. Very enjoyable trip and will book a Tarpon trip next time in PR.

We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the Puerto Rican rain forest for peacock bass. The boat ride was a trip back in time where we saw iguanas, herons, and other birds that frequent this treasure of a river. We caught many peacock bass, but the over all trip was the most lasting memory. That river/lake is a trip in itself.
