“A garden in the midst of the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2012

The statewide public university has its main offfices in this garden set in the middle of San Juan, along a river and small forest. A sophisticated setting made up by college professors and researchers throughout the past eighty years. No big structures, just winding walkways and an interesting succesion of views and lawns. Quiet, safe and refreshing, a haven in the hot and humid summer days.

“Oasis in the city”

Excellent place to enjoy nature. A bit away from it all, need a taxi to get there. Here you can find excellent examples of tropical flora and enjoy a relaxing time.

“Awesome Place in the middle of the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2012 via mobile

I love to play Geocaching. One of the treasure hunts took me here. OMG!!! The place is so awesome. Is like traveling to a enchanted land land Far Far away. It feels like if you are walking in the forest and encounter little villages along the way. I highly recommend this place. The hike is great. The weather is good and i had lots of fun. Many locals use the place to jogg and enxercise and maybe do some yoga too.

“Great Non Tourist Destination - Have a Rental Car”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2012

We arrived at the gardens and could not find an entrance. When we asked a staff worked where do you go to officially enter and he said in Spanish, "Just Go". So, we did just that. Walked around, as there is not a fee to enter. No real signs explain what each area is about. Very cool place to visit as we saw palm trees with fruit, a huge iguana (who gave us quite a surprise), exotic birds who just flew up to us (they are not contained), turtles, and their national bird. Since this is not a tourist destination, the area is quite desolate with only locals and workers. Great experience but sometimes the quiet was a little creepy. All in all, we enjoyed our adventure. We caught a cab to this destination, not realizing how difficult it would be to get a cab back, so we ended up getting a ride from a wealthy local (do not recommend, but we were fine) who had a gorgeous brand new convertible to the University, which is about 10 minutes away. Be sure to have a rental car with you. After visiting the University, we walked around and found a small town with local shopping. Did some shopping and caught a bus back to San Juan. One last thing, very few people speak English so know some Spanish if you venture here outside of San Juan.
