My girlfriend and I stayed at the Andalucia Guest House for four nights during the third week of March and it was very pleasant. The check-in staff was great, and Emeo was very helpful. He responded very quickly to an e-mail I sent him while there (he was not working at the time) because there was not a microwave in our room--the next morning he was there early and provided us with the microwave. The accommodations and location were good (close to beach and restaurants), and the tips from the staff on what to do / where to find things we needed were very helpful. We enjoyed staying away from the main tourist center, the experience felt a little more authentic than it probably would have at the major hotels or resorts. The room was also cleaned everyday. We really enjoyed a frozen yogurt place called 'Yogen Fruz' that was about a 7-10 minute walk down the street of the guest house, towards the bigger hotels.

Room Tip: Our room ended up being a little smaller than we thought--they do seem to have a big variety in term...

Pros: The best part of the stay was the gentleman checking us in (we did not meet the owner). He was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us detailed information about restaurants, the beach, what was available to us at the guest house, taxis - everything we needed. Additionally, he talked a bit about the history and culture of San Juan. We arrived early and were able to leave our bags until the room was ready. The guest house is very close to a nice beach. They provide chairs and beach towels for guests. There are a wide variety of restaurants within a 20 minute walk. They provide detailed maps showing restaurants, where to catch a bus, how to get to the beach, etc. There is also a wonderful coffee/pastry shop almost across the street that serves coffee, sandwiches, beer, wine - and the biggest selection of amazing pastries, cakes, cookies, etc. The bed was comfortable - no problem sleeping. They provide sodas, chips, water for a minimal charge of $1.00 on the honor system. There is a nice sitting area on the rooftop.

Cons: We knew we were booking a small room, but the room we had next to the check in area and across from the hot tub was very tiny - big enough for a queen bed, small "desk" and chair, small wardrobe, mini fridge, and nightstand. There was barely room to walk around the bed or for a suitcase and backpack.

What a charming little guest house! We stayed here on our final night. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. I had called ahead to see if we could store our luggage if we arrived before our room was ready and they were very nice about it. Our room was ready on our arrival.
They have so many nice little touches, like the beach towels and the laminated maps of the neighborhood. Oh, and the outdoor shower and beach gear (like chairs) that you could borrow. We stowed our luggage and headed out to return our rental car and explore Old San Juan.
Our room was on the first floor, facing the street, so there was a bit of traffic noise (I sleep with earplugs when I travel, my friend doesn't -- we both slept great!). Comfy beds and you can tell they put some thought into making it a welcoming room. Fridge, table with two chairs, lots of room to move around, store suitcases, etc. Loved the painting by Emeo over the beds! It was very clean, and had a nice attached bath with a shower. My only complaint would be that the bathroom door handle didn't work very well (but there was a door stop on the bottom that kept the door closed just fine) -- and I forgot to tell the owners! Not a very glamorous place, but inviting, secure and friendly.
The next day we used the handy map to navigate the three short blocks through a nice neighborhood to the beach. They'd also told us where a (fantastic) beach front restaurant was. So we got to enjoy a wonderful last morning in San Juan before heading home.
They called us a cab too. It was very convenient to the airport.
All in all, I loved this place. A terrific value for the money and really nice helpful owners. If I return to San Juan, I will probably stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask to be away from the street.

We stayed here on our way back to the states from Vieques. We had a nice studio upstairs, and the innkeeper was very friendly. It's very close to a nice beach, and within walking distance of some nice restaurants. It has a good jacuzzi that we enjoyed, and overall it was a terrific inn for the price.

Thank you to our gracious hosts Esteban and Emeo for another seamless vacation to Puerto Rico! From our first contact last year until our last this year, it has been the best of helpful, friendly, warm welcomes. Our room is always clean, the whirlpool hot, and Kasalta's is always open for the best pastries on the island. We would quickly recommend Andalucia to any of our family; within easy walking distance of the beach and far enough away from the big casinos to relax. Must be great kite surfing because we saw many~ there's also a nice promenade if you don't want to get your shoes full of sand.

We stayed here for a few days during our visit to San Juan. The location was perfect as access to the quieter more private beaches is about 2 blocks, Kasalta was our usual hangout - this local restaurant and bakery has long lines on weekends so be prepared. There are many more restaurants within walking distance. Old San Juan is only about 5 miles away. The rooms are clean. Both the owners/hosts were were helpful right from making the reservation to when we stayed there.
