“Fantastic place for a family reunion in San Juan!!”
Reviewed 27 June 2012

My husband and I just returned from a trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico. While in Puerto Rico, we stayed at Coqui Del Mar. I was so glad we stayed at Coqui Del Mar too! I liked the fact that the beach is walking distance to Coqui Del Mar. Each morning, we would go swimming in the ocean. The beach was quiet and I noticed there were not many people around. I enjoyed the solitude this beach had to offer. Since Coqui Del Mar is located in a quaint Puerto Rican neighborhood, I felt like I was a "local" while on vacation. The room we stayed at also had a kitchen. We were able to cook our own meals instead of eating out every night. Having access to a kitchen allows a person to eat more local types food and save money.

Coqui Del Mar is the perfect place to have a family reunion or wedding. Neil and Noyda who manage Coqui Del Mar, go out of their way to make you feel comfortable!

I highly recommend staying at Coqui Del Mar.

Room Tip: The room called "La Concha" was very nice.

Stayed here in March with my fiancee, and had a lovely time. The Coqui del Mar is situated in a quaint Puerto Rican neighborhood with very beautiful Spanish homes. The beach is half a block away. I know some people say the beach right out front was small, but I was really pleased when we arrived to not only see how close the beach is, but to see how private it was. We laid out for hours, and no one bothered us. You can, of course, walk down the beach to the left and it the beach widens for a mile or more, and the scenary changes quite a bit.

The hotel is clean, and comfortable. We appreciated having our own kitchen, and blender. It saved us a ton on buying food. I appreciated the book they keep inside the hotel that lets other travelers give advice to newcomers. The spa is a nice treat after a hard day, and the hotel is also quiet. Oh yes, don't let me forget! They have coolers, bicycles, boogie boards, and umbrellas free to use! Can't beat that!!

Inka chicken down the street really is delicious, and I've been to Peru! I wish the food we had in Peru was as good as Inka Chicken!!!

We stayed at the Coqui del mar last August 2011 and love the place so much that we're returning for a second visit August 2012!!! Feels like home away from home. Relaxed atmosphere, cozy rooms, and beach within arms reach! Lovely Noida and Neal are very helpful with any questions you might have regarding "things to do" and a very pleasant people! We loved that we were able to take the bus into San Juan, and travel around like the locals. The beach is so peaceful and quiet, but if you like a more populated area it's only a walks away!!! Plenty of local eateries within walking distance. Give the local beer a try as well, "Medallas" yum! Could easily make this a repeat stay for years to come!

We just returned for a great getaway weekend in the island of enchantment. We loved the proximty to the airport and overall lovely beach neighborhood. We stayed in the crab apartment and while I loved the steamshower my husband remarked that it was a bit too high tech for him! We would return in a hearbeat and can imagine going there with a fun group and renting a bigger apartment. Neil and Noyda were excellents hosts who genuinely care about the guests experience.

This cozy spot is nestled on a quiet little flowery street. Pretty little tables and chairs in the courtyard plaza-type place are perfect for reading with morning coffee, or sipping something in the evening. It's a half block - around the corner, really - to the sweet local beach with beautiful warm water and perfect sunsets. Noyda is super friendly and helpful. Inca Chicken down the block was delicious. Everything you need for the beach is there at the B&B so no need to buy towels or umbrellas or coolers or anything. It felt like staying at someone's house but being left alone to do your thing. Plus it was quiet - they were full but I only saw one other couple the whole time. Rooms have cups, utensils, corkscrews, coffee filters, they really take care of you. Thanks so much!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mango room which was perfect for us - the toilet and shower share the same space, y...

Great location. Easy access to all northern areas and easy to park in the area. Our little studio was just right for a quick breakfast and being out all day. Great AC!! Internet & in-room safe was a huge plus. Comfortable bed.

A hop from a beautiful neighborhood beach with a spectacular worm reef that is home to some happy tropical species. Coqui del Mar was a perfect ending to a first trip to PR. Excellent hosts Neil, Noyda and Rob attended to our request for a late check out which gave us an opportunity to lunch at Inca Chicken (a reason to return to San Juan!) and have a quick nap before leaving PR.

Room Tip: La Concha has a nice his hers shower and a great kitchen.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
If you want to experience Puerto Rico like a local while still having all the conveniences of home, this is your place. We make you feel at home. You have private personal space (all rooms have private kitchens and private bathrooms), while in a beach side neighborhood setting away from the crowded tourist areas. You will experience some of the best Puerto Rico has to offer while living like a local, visiting the restaurants frequently visited by locals (no chain restaurants near us). We are in the Ocean Park beach area of San Juan, in between Old San Juan and the international airport. We are 3 minutes walk to the nearest beach. Ocean Park beach is one of the locals's favoites, and also a preferred spot for kite surfing and windsurfers. We are 5 minutes walk to the tourist bus route (which goes to the casinos and to Old San Juan) and walkable to restaurants and grocery stores. Each of our units have full kitchen, free WiFi, cable TV/DVD, Apple TV, in room safes, and an Ipod player. We strive to provide more than expected, and I think you will find that with us, from the beach chairs, or bicycles to the in room safes, there are never extra charges. One of the best things about us is our live in management, Noyda and Neal, who call Coqui del Mar home and welcome you as if it is your home as well. They are local experts and can help you find a great restaurant, plan a special event, or enjoy a chat. Our courtyard, bar-b-que and jacuzzi are great for meeting other guests. If you are looking for personal service and a unique, eco-friendly (we have solar hot water supplemented by electric, ceiling fans supplemented by ACs, and offer recycling), and a clean guest house for a reasonable price, then check us out. We are not a Marriott and offer our own unique sense of quirky and intimate Puerto Rico. Come join us. *Our free parking is on a public street in front of our location. Not difficult to find a spot, but it is not designated parking for our guest house and is open to all. * Airport transportation acknowledges that there is taxi service from the airport. **Free parking is on street parking ... more   less
