“Loved the Coqui del Mar!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2013

I loved everything about the Coqui del Mar. Our guest house, La Luna, was perfect for 3-4 people. We had all the comforts of home and plenty of room. There were also plenty of bath towels and beach towels available. The courtyard was very nice and relaxing and the hot tub was an added bonus. The beach was only about a block away. The neighborhood was nice and it felt very safe. The entire area is very quiet, Rob was very prompt in replying to my emails and Noyda was so pleasant and helpful. I look forward to returning to the Coqui del Mar soon.

I stayed at Coqui del Mar for the first two nights of my recent trip to San Juan. I left my planning until the last minute, but all my inquiries were responded to promptly by Rob. Noyda was very welcoming and helpful and a great source of information for local places of interest, food, transport etc. The room was spacious and very clean. A lot of thought has been put into catering for the needs of guests. Coqui del Mar is a two minute walk to the beach and a five minute walk to a range of restaurants. If you are looking for an alternative to high rise hotels, Coqui del Mar is a good option.

We stayed at the Coqui Del Mar three nights while exploring San Juan and surronding areas and thought it was great. The room had TV, internet, full kitchen, and a functional design. Noyda was very helpful and available for any questions. Loved all the decorations, patio, and hot tub. Thank you for a wonderful start to our Puerto Rico adventure.

We stayed in the apartment with one bedroom and the kitchen. Very nice. I wanted to move in. The hosts are super friendly and full of advice on things to see and do. One night we decided to take use of the kitchen and cook dinner. They fired up the grill and grilled our food for us and we sat around outside chatting with the owners and the other guests. I liked that we could walk to nearby restaurants, and a grocery store. Plus, the hotel is one block away from the beach. It's a great beach that was never crowded while we there. Thumbs up! If I go back to San Juan, this will be where i stay.

Stayed for a week in El Pescado. The space was great for our family. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might need. My daughter loved the fish toilet and enjoyed feeding them each day. The room was clean and the two futons very comfortable. The beach is literally steps away although we enjoyed walking down the opposite end of the street going over to the beach area near the intersection. The beach was never crowded even on the weekends. Had a fun piña colada night hosted by Noyda. She makes an excellent drink! Neil was able to join us and it was a lot of fun. Noyda was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The only thing I would advise is that if your a light sleeper you might want to bring earplugs. The dog next door wakes early and likes to bark. We got used to it though. Loved the area & the people were friendly. Nice neighborhood, you definitely feel like your visiting a friend. We look forward to coming back again! I would definitely recommend staying at Coqui Del Mar. It's a great alternative to staying in the typical tourist area hotels. I wish we were still there!

This review is little late, I went in July of 2011 before they had the hot tub and can not say good enough things about Neal and Noyda, One block from the beach LITERALLY!!! Did all the local stuff took the city buses to do just about everything local grocery store went with my partner my daughter her daughter my sister and 2 nieces all 7 of us in the pescado unit and we had a blast. Introduced to SUP stand up Paddleboarding thru Noyda's friend Artie took advantage of everything Puerto Rico had to offer Bio Bay, Old San Juan, the Forts, the Church, the trolley went to Ponce and Guanica. Don't forget to listen for the Coqui's at night.LOVED EVERY MOMENT !!!!You must check out "El Jibarito" in Old SJ...

2 couples stayed in El Sol which was ample space and can be expanded to 3 rooms if needed. We were delighted with the accommodations. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean and well appointed. This is not the typical hotel experience. This is like an apartment in a gated community one easy block from the beach. You have great privacy but also superior hosts in Noyda and Neil. They are available to answer questions and give you tips and suggestions. I even contacted Noyda prior to arrival to get help in some of my decisions regarding touring PR. There is a local store nearby and great eats at Inca chicken around the corner. We walked to Old San Juan which took us a long time but it was interesting to see all of the neighborhoods. Noyda had recommended the bus..shoulda listened haha! Noyda and Neil hosted a party one night and they were so open about thier history in operating Coqui and their philosophy of excellent service. I would recommend this guest house highly to family's, couples and anyone interested in a more local experience. Thank you Noyda and Neil and Rob for offering such a wonderful guest house.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
If you want to experience Puerto Rico like a local while still having all the conveniences of home, this is your place. We make you feel at home. You have private personal space (all rooms have private kitchens and private bathrooms), while in a beach side neighborhood setting away from the crowded tourist areas. You will experience some of the best Puerto Rico has to offer while living like a local, visiting the restaurants frequently visited by locals (no chain restaurants near us). We are in the Ocean Park beach area of San Juan, in between Old San Juan and the international airport. We are 3 minutes walk to the nearest beach. Ocean Park beach is one of the locals's favoites, and also a preferred spot for kite surfing and windsurfers. We are 5 minutes walk to the tourist bus route (which goes to the casinos and to Old San Juan) and walkable to restaurants and grocery stores. Each of our units have full kitchen, free WiFi, cable TV/DVD, Apple TV, in room safes, and an Ipod player. We strive to provide more than expected, and I think you will find that with us, from the beach chairs, or bicycles to the in room safes, there are never extra charges. One of the best things about us is our live in management, Noyda and Neal, who call Coqui del Mar home and welcome you as if it is your home as well. They are local experts and can help you find a great restaurant, plan a special event, or enjoy a chat. Our courtyard, bar-b-que and jacuzzi are great for meeting other guests. If you are looking for personal service and a unique, eco-friendly (we have solar hot water supplemented by electric, ceiling fans supplemented by ACs, and offer recycling), and a clean guest house for a reasonable price, then check us out. We are not a Marriott and offer our own unique sense of quirky and intimate Puerto Rico. Come join us. *Our free parking is on a public street in front of our location. Not difficult to find a spot, but it is not designated parking for our guest house and is open to all. * Airport transportation acknowledges that there is taxi service from the airport. **Free parking is on street parking ... more   less
