We had come from a few days on a big resort on the main island of Puerto Rico, and while it was nice, it was a bit sterile. Trade Winds was a welcome change. The rooms are smallish and a tad cramped, somewhat hostel-ish, but that was ok. Bright colors and plenty of charm in the adornments made up for that. The breakfast at the attached restaurant was excellent, and included in the lodging price besides. Good deal! The staff helped us find our connection bus to the bio bay and was very cheerful with us and our kids. Right across from the beach, with convenient stairs leading down.
There are things we enjoyed that others might not. We didn't mind at all that you could hear the band playing down the road, or some conversations from the diners below. We also didn't mind aromas from the restaurant serving as a wake-up call. We stayed in Rm 1, and a friend stayed in Rm 5 and wasn't happy with sounds coming from the restaurant. To us, this is just travel in the Caribbean. Our friend was eager to return to the sterile resort. It helps to know what kind of traveler you are, and what you can deal with. For us, a great little stay.More
