I stayed here because it looked simple and non-touristy. It was. On a shoe-string budget, I stayed for a week. The restaurant was surprisingly good and served fresh seafood and local dishes.

This is not the place to go if you like room service- or phones, for that matter. Roosters woke me up each morning...

I've been all over mainland PR, Culebra and Vieques and this is authentic Puerto Rico.

Make sure you go next door to Duffy's- the owner Limon is a blast.

Room Tip: This is a low cost, authentic Puerto Rican experience. It is not glamorous, at all.

My travel companion and I arrived and were pleasantly charmed by the front desk staff. They enjoyed seeing a very young and vibrant couple and they made a little extra effort to give us a good, well ventilated and spacious room. One of the ones opening to the communal patio.

The rooms are good, solid, and perfect for a couple of backpackers. Reasonably priced, comfortable, hot showers, plenty of outlets, hangers, drawers and closet space.

What I really enjoyed was the Guesthouse restaurant! The food was fantastic! We ate there many times and the dining patio is elevated and overlooks the ocean and shore! In the evenings the drinks are flowing and many local expats frequented the establishment.

I had a good experience.

Tradewinds guest house is a cute spot at the end of the only strip of hotels and restaurants in Esperanza. It has the feel of a hostel with a porch/common area directly outside of private rooms. It's very basic, not luxurious in any sense of the word but the staff is very friendly and helpful. I didn't spend much time in the room but it's in a good location that's easy to get to anything you want to do in Vieques.

This is a simple little guesthouse with clean, comfortable rooms. The rooms are a bit narrow and have only one window, which is why I give it a very good vs. excellent rating. But the beds are great, and the decoration is charming. The view from Tradewinds Restaurant and bar is beyond fabulous. I could stay all day and all night. The food and service are excellent. On my first visit to Vieques I stayed a the Tradewinds and was glad to come back again.

Our dinner was great, and breakfast (which came with the room) was very good as well- a real breakfast to order from a menu, not just a light buffet. Breakfast in such a beautiful place is just sublime.

Tradewinds Guesthouse is not the W. But it's also not roughing it. It's quaint- it did remind me of traveling in India and Southeast Asia, and for all the right reasons- lovely setting, staff and meals. Reasonable prices, very relaxing pace. While the slow and breezy island pace, gorgeous scenery and lack of cable television might have you thinking you've stepped back in time, WiFi and hot running water are there to remind you that you are still comfortably living in the 21st century.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a room toward the back with a window that lets more natural light in. Room 2, our r...

I paid for a night at this guesthouse, but never slept there. It reminded me of my worst hotel experience ever in India. That bad.

The room was bug infested with ants crawling on the bed. It is like a coffin. Although you are in paradise, to turn on the air conditioning you need to shut the windows which are like hurricane shutters leaving you entombed.

Our room had two beds, with cheap covers that didn't match, two cheap table lamps, one of which did not work, a plastic chair and a mini fridge. The bathroom had no soap, no shampoo, broken tiles and worst of all no hairdryer. We were given towels that were threadbare.

I promptly left and went next-door to the Malcone House. This place is dreadful. Avoid it at all costs.

tradewinds is a great hotel in a central location (the malecon) in esperanza side of vieques.
this is a 2 star hotel...but the view is to die for. if you want luxury you will get it a the "w" hotel on the island. but esperanza is where the action happens. this hotel has a resturant on site, but there are many more on the malecon. there are no windows in your room but the air conditioning was good. but the point is why would you stay in your room when you are on the island of vieques with warm sea water.

This is a great option for Vieques. Small place, comfortable and very clean rooms with fridge. Friendly staff and delicious food in the restaurant.

The hotel is located in an active, yet quiet, tourist area. There're plenty of other dining options around, but a little pricey.

Our rate included a "continental breakfast", however this is far more than a continental breakfast. You can choose from several items in the menu, that include pancakes, eggs, omelets, coffee, juices, etc.

Our room didn't have a TV, nor Wi-fi, but if you want to rest and disconnect, this is the place. You will not miss them!

Room Tip: Rooms 1 to 4 share a nice terrace, adjacent to the restaurant, in which you can have a semi-private...
