Owner description: This appropriately-named beach, curving like a half moon, is shallow enough to walk out 40 feet.

My favorite beach in vieques. Water very calm and clear . Not windy on that side. No waves.

There was a bit of sea weed but once you step over it your fine.

Also, should have listened to the car rental lady to bring food. There is literally nothing at all at any of the beaches there.

Highly recommend this beach !

Beautiful, lots of shade options, good for families, many wild horses and rather secluded. A must see when in Vieques. In top 3 of Vieques beaches for me.

Kids loved this one--they were able to pack the sand and make "sandmen". Gentle waves, shallow water

Calm, clear water and not crowded at all! We went in the a.m. and definitely recommend doing so. The water was very shallow and we even found a small reef. Overall, beautiful beach and definitely one of our favorite of Vieques!

On down a very bumpy road from Sun Bay is Media Luna. There are no bathrooms and not much shade. The sand, however, is very fine white flour-like powder and super soft. It's a smaller bay than Sun Bay and is so shallow that at low tide you can walk about 1/4 mile out. There are schools of little Angel-looking fish within 10 feet of the shore (in knee-deep water). Along the rocks to the east there are tons of crabs, snails, urchins, and other creatures. You can easily enjoy the wildlife even without a snorkel.

If you are walking, it's about 30+ minutes from Sun Bay, but if you're driving it's a bumpy 5-7 minutes. Given that it's harder to get to than Sun Bay, it's less frequented, quieter, and more private. There are several picnic shelters that offer shade and seating. The only significant draw-back is the lack of bathrooms. If you need to use the bathroom you have to walk quite a ways to find a bush to go behind, or you have to drive back out to Sun Bay.

It's gorgeous, but there are fewer of the iconic palm trees here than at other beaches.
