My husband and I stayed here for two nights a couple of weeks ago. It's a beautiful, well-maintained bed and breakfast. We almost stayed at the W, and I am so very happy that we changed our minds. The rooms are well-appointed and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is an honor bar with snacks and drinks. This was very convenient for us since we were only staying two nights and didn't want to have to go shopping for those things. The pool is beautiful with the ocean in the distance. Be aware that you are not beachfront - I think I thought we would be, but I'm sure that's my fault and that I didn't read the website closely enough. Still, it's probably just a half mile off and the view is unobstructed. The breakfast is lovely. It's not just pastries or toast and fruit like you might expect. They have a full-service kitchen with a daily breakfast special, and they can make you about anything you would want. Wonderful fresh fruit and fruit juices, coffee, and tea included. We had to leave early both mornings - the first day to go scuba diving and the second to catch a flight - and the staff was so accommodating and willing to serve us earlier than the regular breakfast time (8-10am). The location is ideal - you are just around the bend from Esperanza and the street full of bars and restaurants there. Blackbeard may operate a scuba shop out of the W (another reason we almost stayed there), but when it was time to dive and we told them where we were staying, they had us meet them at the dock in Esperanza where some of the best diving is. If we go back to Vieques (and I sure hope we get the chance), we will absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view of the ocean, but honestly, we didn't spend much time in our room at a...

Wow! What can I say, except thank you for that great review. One always hears about the problems someone has, but it takes a greater effort to write about a good experience. Thanks so much, and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

Let me start with how great those people are who take care of this house with lots of awesome rooms (Calling this hotel would not be nice). The ladies at the front desk gave us tour of the location which was mind blowing. One best thing is everything works on courtesy basis. You have beer, drinks, chips and things like snorkel gears, beach chairs to buy or rent totally based on your courtesy to right down in a note book and they will add to your bill. You do not have to go back to your room to get the keys or IDs like other hotels. For us the breakfast was included... ..U cannot miss the house special in the breakfast ... French toast stuffed with Mango Jam with cream cheese .. damn!!! cannot beat that !!! Awesome.... The room that we got was upgraded for free :) thanks to the lady at front desk and it had a small balcony for 2 to get the sea view. I would like everyone to go and try to stay at this place when they visit Vie ques. Pics coming soon!!!

Room Tip: If available they upgrade the room without asking!! Get a room which is facing the sea, you will th...

Great staff. Great breakfast included. Five minutes by car from the Malecon where the restaurants are. If you need anything they have in the premises from medicine, snorkel equipment to a full bar. No TV and the wireless does not work in the rooms

Very very cool tropical home. Excellent service. Excellent view of the carribean from room patio.
Cheap rental and honor system.
Staffs are very friendly and go the extra mile and then few to keep you happy.
Cant wait to visit again.

The staff helped made the stay. Made sure you were happy. The manager and the girls at the desk were helpful with good information about the island. It was nice not worrying about where to go for breakfast. The breakfasts were good not necessarily the best ever. Definitely not the normal caribean we were used to but nice. And you could go to a different beach every day and they were awesome.

Nice Vacation on Vieques. My GF's bro lives in San Juan so when we come up we hang with them, and go out on our own. We went on a EXTREME CANYONING expedition for his birthday earlier in the week(Montana Explora)highly recommended, and found the Hacienda Tamarindo special online that night. We called in and asked if we could get the Paddle Boarding special a day early on 4/24. UNREAL VALUE!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY 725$ [4 days, 3 nights/rental car/full breakfast/Paddle Boarding/snorkeling tour] . Room #7 was clean and basic with no TV. Thats how we like it. We had a view of pool and ocean. As anywhere in PR expect to be woken up by rooster calls. Pool is open 24 hours, which is nice. Just be respectful of others. Breakfast was always good, with strong cafe. Friendly and helpful service. The BFF loved the Paddle boarding, which we saw multiple types of stingray, and went through mangroves. They snorkeling was nice, but got choppy towards the end. The tour is also Highly Recommended. Keep in mind every where , but the W is a B and B type atmosphere. The trendy resort isn't really our scene so this place was perfect for us. If you are trying to decide between vieques and culebra there is more to do on vieques. we still need to come back for horseback riding/ and the world #1 famous bio bay. So we will be back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Vieques’ Hacienda Tamarindo offers 17 very special rooms, each lovingly and creatively designed and decorated by owner, Linda Vail -- her swan song after over 20 years as a commercial interior designer. Each guest room and public space is unique; imaginatively spiced with a lifetime’s accumulation of art, antiques, and collectibles. An ancient Tamarind tree in the lobby atrium majestically rises three stories through the center of the building. Terraces, courtyards, and sitting rooms offer ample space for relaxation and conversation. The Hacienda is perched on a hilltop with spectacular 180 degree views of the Caribbean -- from sunrise to sunset; looking down on the bedazzling, ever-changing myriad of blue, emerald and turquoise waters. Caribbean trade winds and lazy paddle fans keep you cool and comfortable. Here, you can fall asleep to a tree frog serenade and awake to the smell of jasmine on the gentle sea breeze. ... more   less
