This place is fantastic! Vieques is a very cool island and can really be enjoyed by staying at Tamarindo. Our days went like this... wake up in an air conditioned, big, clean, room with a great view of the ocean. Go outside our room to sit for a delicious breakfast (one of the waitresses actually picked a mango from on the property for my wife when the fruit of the day was bananas). After spending a leisurely meal reading and responding to emails etc, we would pack our provided cooler with food stored in our provided frig. Grab a provided beach chair and pack the car for our day at one of the hundreds of Vieques beaches, each more beautiful than the next. If we saw 10 people on any beach, we felt crowded. Most of the time, we were alone.
If we had questions, the staff went out of their way to help. The pool was also great. Our only issue was it was not on the beach. However, it is a very easy walk though one of the surrounding hotels to get to a beautiful beach. If you go to the beach below the hotel, walk to the left to find a beautiful spot where you can swim. We had great stay and will stay here again.

This is a beautiful Spanish-villa style boutique hotel with lovely common spaces. We stayed in a second-floor Caribbean view room and opened the balcony doors wide each morning to enjoy the ocean view and breeze. Great customer service, snorkeling rentals on site, delicious made-to-order breakfast each day. Light sleepers should bring earplugs; the coqui frogs are adorable but incredibly loud (search YouTube for examples). My significant other fell asleep to the indigenous soundtrack without a problem, however, and overall we enjoyed this quaint hotel more than the resort we stayed at later in the trip. We'd definitely return! The main reason this isn't a five-star review is that the showers have combo shampoo/soap pump dispensers that feel very out of date. I understand wanting to be "eco-friendly" but higher quality products in the bathrooms (even in dispensers) and nicer shower heads would improve the experience.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have better views

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Hacienda Tamarindo. We always appreciate feedback. Based on your comments we will look for alternatives to the soap and shampoo dispensers. We do use high quality, environmentally friendly body wash and conditioning shampoo. I am sorry if you did not like them. The shower heads are low-flow to save our precious water. I will definitely look for a more attractive alternative. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here on our honeymoon, and it was our favorite part of the trip. It's a beautiful villa style hotel with breathtaking ocean views. Our room looked out over the ocean, so we woke up every morning to a nice ocean breeze and beautiful view. The room itself was also beautiful; it was a good size with dark wooden beams against the white ceiling, double doors that opened to a small balcony overlooking the ocean, and nice, simple furniture that gave it a warm feeling. It was clean and the staff were friendly. The morning breakfasts under the 200-year-old Tamarind tree were amazing; fresh fruit, eggs, coffee, toast, and juice every day. We enjoyed the tamarind and passion fruit drinks! They have a cute library with one computer, but the computer and internet were so incredibly slow that it wasn't helpful. We never got to meet the owners, but their middle-school-age grandson Drew, who was helping out for the summer, was great. We loved our time there and keep wishing we were back there now.

How nice of you to write that great review. We so appreciate the feedback, and are extremely pleased that you enjoyed a part of your honeymoon with us. I am sorry the internet was not working well while you were here. We were having some difficulties at the time and having some work done. The entire upgrade should be complete in a couple of weeks so that our wi-fi will be better than ever.
We enjoyed having our grandson here to help out, but sorry that we didn't get to meet you. I hope you will be back another time so we can make up for that.

I just spent four nights at Hacienda Tamarindo and if I were to return to Vieques, I would stay there again.

The rooms were clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and the common spaces were quaint and lovely. The pool and hammock area were really beautiful. Breakfast, included in my stay, was delicious every morning and the staff was very kind. I really liked being able to rent beach equipment for snorkeling so easily. The location, just down the street from the Malecon with all its restaurants, was also very good although getting to the Malecon requires a car.

I admit that the bathrooms, while clean, could use a bit of updating. The combination shampoo/soap dispenser in the shower is very 1980's and the showerhead could use a replacement, but these are immaterial. Also, a warning to light sleepers -- between the coqui frogs at night and guests who speak loudly, one can hear many outdoor noises from within their rooms. Sound deadening is not that great but frankly, I liked the island experience of hearing the birds and frogs at night. Just don't expect a dead silent room.

For a quaint B&B or boutique hotel, I think the Hacienda was a really great choice and I would be happy to stay there again. I should also say that the package deal with Vieques Air Link airfare and Jeep rental included was a steal.

A great experience. I would stay there again.

We really appreciate your taking the time to write your review. It's great that you enjoyed your stay. That's our primary goal. As to the bathrooms, we update a few each year, and some years ago we made a conscious decision to, among other things, use body wash and shampoo dispensers in an effort to minimize the waste we create on our small island paradise.

Enjoyable environment of peace, no rush and you have acces to any road to fix your desired view of a small Island and the sea. Beaches are responsibly protected by Natural Resources, environmental organizations and the US Fish and Wildlife. You pick your setting. Excellent operators. You feel like home.
