Thanks to the entire staff at Hacienda Tamarindo for taking such good care of us and making our stay on Vieques so comfortable and relaxing. Starting the day with our made-to-order breakfast made us feel pampered and happy! The staff was always there to answer questions and make recommendations. The accomodations are very comfortable and clean, and the views and grounds amazing.

We will certainly return!

We knew that our evening on the bio-bay would be the highlight of our trip to Puerto Rico but were having difficulty in deciding where to stay on Vieques. Tamarindo was recommended by a friend who had stayed there a few years ago. And he was right on the money.

Our resevation e-mail was answered promptly and a few days later, Jim answered all my additional questions in a leisuely phone conversation. He made car rental reservations for us and gave me his take on whether to take the ferry or fly over. (We ended up flying and were glad we did - it was relatively inexpensive and very quick)

We arrived early in the day but our room was ready for us - and we were upgraded to a two room suite. By Caribbean standards, the property was plush - well maintained and clean. Jim gave us the tour of the property and then filled us in on the restaurants, shopping and most importantly - the beaches and snorkeling. Blue beach is definitely one of the Caribbean's best and the snorkel spots were exactly as Jim described.

The food and the service at breakfast were both great. It was a very comfortable and friendly stay overall.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. Everything was perfect: the immaculate pool with ocean view, hammock, and shade under the ivy covered gazebo; comfortable room with french doors and a view, incredible service and knowledgeable staff, who arranged for a car and trips; and the included made to order breakfast and reasonably priced boxed lunches for the beach. The friendly dog and parrot added to the ambiance of this great hotel. We will definitely come back to the hotel and beautiful beaches.

I really liked my stay here. We stayed in a 1 room suite. It was a large room w/two beds, and a wet bar area. The pool area was beautiful. The pool is too short to swim laps but it's wide, so it feels large. The grounds were pretty and the honor bar was excellent. Jim was a great host and made a great first impression. I wish I could have stayed here longer. My only complaint was the mattress. I think it was a hard industrial foam. I didn't sleep well.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here with my gf for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. We got a room facing the ocean with a small balcony, and it made the atmosphere incredible with the beautiful views. There is alcohol available downstairs in the fridge, and you just sign for whatever you take. There is also free breakfast in the morning. I definitely recommed this place - it was the best part of my Puerto Rico trip. You will love the beaches in Vieques!

My husband and i recently returned from a 6 day vacation in vieques (our first time there.) we loved the island... the beaches, and Hacienda Tamarindo.
We stayed in room # 5 and it was perfect, with a large private terrace overlooking the pool, the rolling hills, and the ocean. There’s nothing like hanging out there at night with a glass of beer and looking at the millions of stars. The room itself was spacious and spotless, with wonderfully thoughtful amenities like beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler.
Breakfast in HT is oustanding , served on the second floor terrace, but coffee and tea are available pretty much all day. Every day there’s a different special and delicious meal.

Joey and Jim at the front desk were terrific. They were extremely knowledgable about the island and gave us wonderful advice. Special thanks to Joey , once again, for having found the flight for my husband.

The location is beautiful, the rooms have beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding area and the pool is great,
BUT WE FELL IN LOVE WITH ZAC, the resident ever welcoming and gentleman dog.

We will definitely go back to vieques, hacienda tamarindo
......Only complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable....you can't have it all.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Vieques’ Hacienda Tamarindo offers 17 very special rooms, each lovingly and creatively designed and decorated by owner, Linda Vail -- her swan song after over 20 years as a commercial interior designer. Each guest room and public space is unique; imaginatively spiced with a lifetime’s accumulation of art, antiques, and collectibles. An ancient Tamarind tree in the lobby atrium majestically rises three stories through the center of the building. Terraces, courtyards, and sitting rooms offer ample space for relaxation and conversation. The Hacienda is perched on a hilltop with spectacular 180 degree views of the Caribbean -- from sunrise to sunset; looking down on the bedazzling, ever-changing myriad of blue, emerald and turquoise waters. Caribbean trade winds and lazy paddle fans keep you cool and comfortable. Here, you can fall asleep to a tree frog serenade and awake to the smell of jasmine on the gentle sea breeze. ... more   less
