Hacienda Tamarindo is a wonderful little B&B just outside of Esperanza, on Vieques. Lovely rooms (most without a/c) are perfectly cool from the constant breeze and ceiling fans. No tvs or phones was a nice touch (wifi in rooms keeps you sane). Beautiful pool area and views of the sea. Hammocks are ideally situated for view and breeze. Good breakfasts al fresco. Including beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers in each room is a nice, and well appreciated, touch. Free ice machine is also great. Free parking on site, too. Friendly house dog.
Don't expect to be able to walk to much. (Although Esperanza is only about 1-1.5 miles away, it's extremely dark at night and you must walk on the road. We did it; but take a flash light, for sure.) And be prepared for some noise from the breakfast room to possibly wake you between 8-10am, since doors are made of wood slats and most rooms access the breakfast area directly. Location is nicely away from any rif-raf, yet with easy access to everything you'll want to do on the island.
BTW: The Inn on the Blue Horizon next door has a fantastic (if expensive) restaurant. Make a reservation and walk on over.

Hands down, this is the place to stay on Vieques. Gorgeous views of the Caribbean, a few minutes drive into Esperanza, and the most accommodating staff imaginable... you cannot ask for more -- everything has been thought about in advance!

We booked a last minute trip to Vieques and found Hacienda Tamarindo on TripAdvisor. We took the only room they had available -- Casita Linda, which is actually a house.

Burr and Linda at HT have thought of everything. From pre-packed picnic lunches for days at the beach, to a library for an extra beach read, and fortunately in our case, EXTRA GASOLINE for when the ferry crashed and no gasoline could be found on the island!

It was just out of town, so a very quiet place to stay. The daily breakfast was scrumptious and the service excellent. We drove all over the island, and didn't see anything that came close. The Inn on Blue Horizon was the closest, and we found it to be very run down.

This is where you want to be!

We recently returned from the Island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. Again we stayed at the beautiful, restful, gem of a hotel, Hacienda Tamarindo (HT). We have visited many islands of the Caribbean, and we can name few hotels which compare with the ambience, comfort, convenience and friendly service of HT. One truly feels "part of the Island", and in no way is there any feeling of being part of a cookie-cutter chain hotel which could be anywhere in the world with a warm climate. It is easy to become friendly with other guests of all ages, and this adds to the enjoyment. The staff could not be more helpful and informative.
It is a remarbable establishment and deserves every accolade that it receives.

We booked our visit after hearing about this secluded little gem from a couple we met when out to dinner one night.
I Had to see for myself how beautiful this place was and let me tell you, I was blown away at first from the amazing views just outside our room, then again by the friendly service and cleanliness of the hotel and grounds.
The little touches have not been forgotten either as in many larger hotels.
I especially love the freshly picked local fruit that comes with each breakfast made to order.
The island is amazing from the number one bio bay in the world to the snorkling and each beach on the island is more beautiful than the next.
We enjoyed horse back riding through the jungle and out onto the beach, this place just got better each day .
The owners of the hotel Burr and linda were top notch. Burr with his friendly humor and linda just emitts class from every pore.
I would love to keep this secret to myself but then that just wouldn't be fair.
Everyone should enjoy this wonderful find.

Eric
