Review of Isabel Segunda

Owner description: The pretty capital of Vieques offers a restored 1840s fort and busy waterfront.

On a cursory glance one may be tempted to think Isabel Segunda is nothing but a rundown place with dubious characters lurking about. Start walking the streets and you will find Isabel Segunda offers up some wonderful surprises. The locals are kind, friendly, and helpful. The restaurants, such as Coqui Fire, serve sublime food at reasonable prices. They welcome you like family. The panaderia sells wonderful bread, pastries, and steaming hot coffee. Though it might look a bit rough around the edges, it is safe and great fun. It is not a tourist filled party town like Esperanza. It is an adventurous blast from the past not to be missed.

Isabel II is the largest town on the island....while Esperanza is the happy-go-lucky town with lots happening all the time, Isabeel II is more of the working man's town. But here you can find some great restaurants....try Coqui Fire and Taverna...really good food. Come to BlackBeards for your aquatic needs (snorkel, scuba, sunning, etc). Lots of one way street here but small enough you can't get lost.

Little Town with lot of contrast. Small little house withe oceans views of million dollars . People very friendly . In the morning you can take a breakfast at La Viequense ( Bakery ) where all the locals gather in the morning. Everything is at walk distance. There is a excellent budget restaurant ( El Yate near the Ferry) Puertorican cuisine.
