Orquideas has undergone a transformation from steakhouse to small fusion dishes in the same location a block off the main road in Esperanza. What you get is a quiet meal in a relaxed atmosphere (except for somewhat frenetic waitressing) at a decent price. What you miss is entrees.
The tapas menu is mostly tasty, a bit eclectic, and a reminder that salads are not tapas though they may be served on small dishes in some restaurants. The half dozen sushi rolls on offer are creative, nicely presented, and equally tasty though they make for a limited sushi bar.
A decent wine list and a full mixed drink menu, together with a limited dessert offering, round out the experience.
Our group of five tried six of the nine small dishes and two sushi rolls (some more than once). In all, ten small dishes priced between $10 and $13 left us very well fed. Late on Monday night dessert was mostly sold out so we didn't taste those.
