I absolutely loved my stay with my family in Casa Anolis. The house is comfortable, clean, and well equipped. I especially enjoyed the backyard terrace with view of the flowers and trees, good to read and relax. The neighborhood is quiet and coveniently located close to El Malecón and Esperanza beaches (7-10minute walk). I highly recommend this rental, whether you wish to relax or enjoy the proximity to the beautiful beaches located un southern Vieques.
Our time at Casa Anolis was great. The owner sent us their contact info and that of the house manager prior to our trip. Joey, the house manager, contacted me the day before us getting to Vieques and was very helpful and welcoming upon our arrival. This house of 3 bedrooms was perfect for our party of 6 (two of which were under 4 years old). It has a fully equipped kitchen with stove top, toaster, small oven, coffee maker, microwave, standard size refrigerator and anything you would need to prepare your food. It has a deck to the back of the house that we were glad to enjoy later on the evenings playing cards. The yard was enclosed and a decent size for our two kids to explore. The bathroom has a stocked first aid kit (amazing!) and there's a washer and dryer for your use (and detergent too). Unfortunately, our load of laundry did not get dry in the dryer. We think there is no heat source connected to it. It is walking distance to convenience stores, bakery, and the strip of restaurants in Esperanza. We would stay here again in the future!
Great little house to stay for the whole family. I traveled with my husband, our 1yr old daughter, my brother, his girlfriend & my mother. Even with one bathroom it worked out just fine. There's a shower outside to rinse off after a day at the beach. They have the place stocked up on just about every essential you may need. Stocked kitchen, stocked bathroom/first aid, all beach essentials, it was all very handy. Love that we had a washer & dryer too!

we have been traveling to vieques for 9 years this is a great place. the owners of the property made sure everything went smooth in the booking process. we stayed 2 weeks and joey the 2 times we needed him for small items was there in a flash to help. it is close enough but far enough so you don't hear the late nite life. will stay again.

Casa Anolis is not a fancy place, but if you're looking for fancy, you're probably not in Vieques (or you're staying at the W). What it is, is a fairly clean, fairly comfortable, well-located place for a great price.
--Location. The house is in Esperanza, a short walk from the Malecon but far enough to avoid the trucks blasting music and advertisements. It's on a side street with parking available on the street. You get the occasional stray dog, like everywhere in Vieques, but none of them bothered us.
--The house. Three small but fairly comfy rooms, nice common area with a pretty decent kitchen (toaster oven only but plenty of fridge and stove room, we cooked several meals with no problems) and plenty of seating, a deck and small yard (complete with outdoor shower to wash off the beach sand before we went inside), and a large bathroom featuring a nice shower that constantly had hot water. The washer and dryer also came in handy; not super new but they worked just fine. A/C in the rooms worked great, and the airflow and fans in the common room kept it nice and cool, especially in the evenings.
--The price. At $150/night, split between two couples, it worked out to under $40/person every night, and if we'd had a third couple (there are three rooms) it would have been $25/person. That's as cheap or cheaper than any of the accommodations in Esperanza I saw except the hostel's dorm beds. Great value for what you get.
--Bit of an ant problem. The ants are too small to be kept out by the screens over the windows, so they got in. Mostly in the bathroom, occasionally in the other rooms. Not really a big deal--we didn't leave out any food and they're not big enough to cause any real problem--but some additional spraying might help. We did see one roach as well, but let's be real--this is the tropics, you're going to get a roach or two, and it definitely did not appear to be any kind of infestation, just one unlucky bug. Happily, the screens do a good job of keeping out mosquitos.
--Since we were two couples, it would have been nice to have another room with a double bed instead of two twins. Pushing them together worked okay but a real bed would have been nice. This would be good for a family group or several friends, though.
As you can see, these are very minor quibbles. Overall, the house was clean, comfortable, well-located, and one of the best deals around. I'd gladly stay here again.
Casa Anolis was clean and comfortable and it had all the amenities we needed. Joey, the manager, was very helpful. The location of the house (near the Malecon) was great. Highly recommended!
