We returned to Vieques for the 5th time, and stayed as always, at the Esperanza Inn,
The rooms were clean, plenty of towels and comfortable bed to sleep in. Lisa and Jay
are always helpful when you need recomendations for anything needed on the island.
We stayed for 4 wonderful days and their location can't be beat. You can walk out the door and walk 1/2 block up the the main avenue (The Malecone) for dinner, drinks or
shopping. We did not need a car at all, and if needed, the Inn rents a jeep which makes
things quite easy since it is already on site. Thank you Lisa and Jay for making our
trip so wonderful. We will be seeing you again on our next trip!

Let me start off by saying that the hosts running this inn are very accommodating. It was not easy to find a place to stay in Vieques Island. A lot of places wanted a three night stay, minimum, and it wasn't working with our travel dates. Esperanza Inn gave us NO PROBLEMS whatsoever to stay two nights and a third night somewhere else (thank you Coco Loco). The inn is very close to town and has a lot of perks, like a crate of leftovers (sun lotions, shampoos, conditioners) so you don't have to buy if you happen to run out. They have some beach stuff to borrow, like towels and coolers. They had a small pool in the back, which we did not use, but I saw some guests using it. We stayed in a room on the ground floor, so keep that in mind for this review. I felt that the rooms were a little dark and the floors could be a little cleaner. Also, the shower was very tricky. It was either cold or scalding hot. Bed was comfortable and had no problems sleeping at night. However, if you are on Vieques Island, you shouldn't be spending too much time in your room. It's a good deal if you want a place to close to town and prefer a bed and breakfast feel when traveling. Be sure to have a piña colada at the bar in town that also makes ice cream (which was very popular). I forget the name, but the town is so small you should be able to find it, and they were the only ones who made ice cream. Their piña coladas were the best!

Room Tip: try to get a room that is second floor

A one week stay here was very relaxing and enjoyable. It is truly an "inn" atmosphere with daily interactions (or not) with other guests in the common areas. Winter continental breakfast is a plus as is the availability of beach chairs, small coolers and even snorkel gear. Lisa and J are very helpful and having WIFI is a definite plus! Being very close to the Malecon in another plus.

Esperanza Inn was just that - fabulous. The staff and owners are chill and easy-going, the Inn had plenty of beach stuff to borrow (chairs, coolers, umbrellas, toys, snorkeling equipment, etc.); the rooms were clean and comfortable; a small pool; lots of outdoor space (including a grill!) to hang out in the early mornings with some coffee and hard-boiled eggs or at night after dinner and drinks on the 'strip.' The aforementioned coffee and eggs - as well as cereal, toast, juice, etc. - was offered for breakfast and provided for by the Inn.

Staying at the Inn is like having your own apartment on the Isle. Lisa and the staff were great. I'd definitely stay there again.

The only downside (and this is actually more funny than a downside) is the rooster who seems to confuse nighttime with dawn. We had some good laughs joking about him! But he may keep you up if you're used to total quiet.

group of 6 of us stayed here for almost a week - can't describe how perfect this place is.

rooms are clean and spacious with kitchen, location just off malecón strip
great pool with lounge chairs and surrounding palm trees.
fresh muffins and eggs breakfast every morning.
common room with games, dvds, books, flat screen TV
large roof top deck
free chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc. to take to the beach
plants hanging everywhere
awesome!!!!

only reservation is the roosters that will wake you up early in the morning (and for some reason sometimes go crazy in the night, maybe because of full moon), but i have a feeling this may be all over the island.

true paradise. Also, try orquideas restaurant if you go to Esperanza.

Great place to stay, convenient to the beaches and walking to town. Lisa and J were wonderful hosts, very knowledgeable in answering questions about their wonderful island. The use of the washer and dryer was a big plus along with the borrowing of beach chairs, coolers etc. Will definetly return.

We spent four wonderful nights at Esperanza Inn the first week of March. This is our second visit here and this time we stayed in the Casita, a small house on the back of the property. The casita consists of a queen size bedroom, walk in shower, and lovely front porch. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast on our porch each morning. Breakfast consists of local fruit, cereals, toast, eggs, selection of pastries, juice, and coffee. Having breakfast here was a real money saver for us, and we also often ate our lunch here too. On the first day, we went to the grocery and bought foods for lunch, using the well-equipped kitchen to make our meals. Later we even bought fresh snapper from the docks and grilled out 2 nights in a row. Although we rented a jeep, the inn is within walking distance to the malecon with many excellent restaurants (town area) in Esperanza as well as to Sun Bay, a beautiful beach. We brought some snorkeling things with us, but were able to finish out our needs with the items available, such as beach chairs, coolers, fins. Another real plus for us was that we were able to use the laundry facilities at night. The owners, Lisa and J are simply outstanding hosts, offering advice on anything when needed . . . restaurants, snorkeling spots, beaches. We hope to return every year!
