If you rent a car on Vieques, you're likely to ride on this highway at some point. It connects Isabella Segundo and Esperanza. It's a well-maintained road, very few pot holes, if any. Be careful driving, as It's somewhat narrow, and very curvy. There are often horses, dogs, chickens, or mongoose on the road, or near the road. Sometimes people bike or walk on this road as well.
At night, it's not well lit, especially close to Sun Bay. There was a car crash in that area this week (not sure what happened), but we noticed it on the way to the beach in the morning (hadn't been there the day before). It would be easy to hit someone or something at night if you aren't driving carefully.
There are many points of interest accessible by this road including, Restaurant El Resuelve (must check it out!), Wildlife Refuge, a small family-owned organic farm (open on the weekends- definitely check it out!), and Sun Bay.
