We ate at El Yate twice while in Vieques over Thanksgiving week, 2012. This was our sixth trip to VIeques and we have eaten at restaurants all over the island, from pub grup to gourmet. The owner of our lodging recommended we try El Yate after we asked about traditional Puerto Rican/Latin American food. This is a combination bar/restaurant, easily convenient to the ferry landing, with basic atmosphere. The Chimichurri steak was awesome and was served with rice and beans and plantains. We made a point to try to eat as much Puerto Rican food as we could during this trip and ventured to a lot of the places owned by locals. For basic food at a good price, I would recommend you try El Yate.
