EvaMer is situated on the north coast of Puerto Rico, just west of the town of Isabel. The setting is absolutely breathtaking. Perched up high over the ocean, you can enjoy views of the ocean from the swimming pool or one of the sitting areas. Or you can take some steps through a secure gate down to the beach and dip your toes into that superb turquoise water. We were in the Mira Mar, which is the closest to the ocean . It was very nice, supplying a large comfortable bed, a little kitchen area and a good sized bathroom with lovely stone-tiled walls and shower. There are areas where some repairs could be made as, I suspect, the humidity has caused a few issues. One should note that there is no office onsite but Sherri will be there to meet you and see you off once she knows your agenda. All of this was handled by Jinette with our online booking. Our thanks to both these ladies for all their help. As there is no staff onsite, noone will make your bed for you, clean your bathroom, sweep the sand up off your floor, etc. etc. It is very quiet and peaceful. Although there were a few other people staying while we were there, we really felt like we had the place all to ourselves most of the time. Wonderful!

Very explicit instructions were received as to how and when to contact someone to get us into the compound of cottages on this property. I phoned, emailed, and texted of our arrival time and as the driver dropped us off at the closed gate we stood there in the rain waiting for someone to let us in. Not a very good first observance. Finally, someone came out of the main house, saw us standing in the rain and opened the gate. We spoke with 3 other couples who had the same experience and actually two girls who had to climb the fence to get in. I seem to think that since Mark left (I read the extensive review on his management and accomodation credentials) many things have changed at Evamer. Also, it is currently up for sale. Sherry seems to be overseeing the management and lives over in Esperanza so she is not on site.
The location is off the beaten path which is exactly what was expected and enjoyed. We stayed in Mira Mar which has a nice patio area overlooking the ocean. It seems that the upkeep is not being addressed, such as: in the kitchen area there was a large hole in the ceiling above the pantry (where a light may have been?), the bathroom has no hooks for clothes, no outlet for hairdryer so you need to dry your hair in the living area with no mirror. There is no dresser for clothes, only sparse shelving in the open closet with only 4 hangers. The toaster oven was rusty, sparse limited utensils and kitchenware. Just a few little touches and improvements would make a world of difference. Also spoke with a couple who has been coming to Evamer for 7 years and definitely felt that "things have changed". The final note was the alarm system and instructions that were given to us to activate it led to the system going off and police being called, killed our eardrums!

Room Tip: Mira Mar is closest overlooking the beach.

Evamer was the perfect choice for our family of three. The grounds and setting were wonderful! Very clean and cared for. We stayed in Mira Coco and loved that we could cook small meals in the kitchenette. The views were incredible...ocean from every window. Crashing waves constantly. We enjoyed our balcony set right above the beach!!

The location was nice too, set in a local neighborhood near Isabel (our favorite town of the two). Never more than 15 minutes from anywhere on the island.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great alternative to a traditional hotel/resort. We would stay again for sure!!

The Evamer bungaloes are within 100 feet from the ocean with beautiful views from almost every spot on the property. The place is private, with a gated space, quiet and warm. If you like water nioses and coquies at night this is the place for you. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean. The folks on the property were very nice and helpful.

Very close to the all places on the island, including the airport and ferry.

Room Tip: Bring food to the room. You have to take a car to get food. The room has a kitchen with a microwave...

Evamer exceeded expectations! We arrived on Dec 23rd via Air Flamenco after the ferry was canceled. What a visual treat! Opt for the short flight if you can - it gets you on the island sooner! As we drove down the Evamer private driveway, we were wowed by the beauty and closeness of the ocean. Sherry greeted us and showed us the lovely grounds and rooms. My husband and I stayed in MiraCoco, and my son and daughter-in-law stayed in the unit below us. Our room was perfect - clean and very comfortable. The view is amazing! We opened the double doors and sipped morning coffee. At night the crashing waves rocked us to sleep...loved it. Spending Christmas with my family at Evamer was priceless. Christmas day we grilled New York steaks and veggies on the ocean front Evamer grill, yum. Thank you Sherry and Jeff for so many helpful tips. It really doesn't get any better. Big love goes to Paco, the resident cat. Truely heaven on earth.

We were impressed the moment we drove down the driveway. Such a neat little place to stay! The doors to our villa opened to the water making it the best place to enjoy a morning coffee and listen to the ocean. The villa was the perfect size for my husband and me. We enjoy the feel of a home-away-from-home where we are able to get our own groceries, make our own food, and just feel comfy. It's not a resort, so don't bother if that's the type of vacation you want. But for a laid back, private vacation, it's absolute heaven. Falling asleep to the waves and palm trees was a treat. Shelly and her husband were there each morning (even on christmas day!) and helped us with anything we needed, whether it was more coffee, suggestions on good beaches, or just a good morning chat. And I'd be remisced not to mention Paco the Cat...what a ham! Love love this place and am counting the days until my return. Thank you Eva for such a wonderful place!
